Ossi Maiwald, 64, of the Wellington, Spring Hill, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at home. He was born in Berlin, Germany, and moved to this area recently from Long Island, N.Y. He was a member of Butchers Union USCW Local No. 174 and a Lutheran by faith.

He was born in Koenigsberg, Prussia, and moved to this area 18 years ago from New York. He served as a glider pilot with the Luftwaffe from 1941-1945. He retired from Fairchild Republic Company and was a member of the German American Club and the Air Force Association.

Joyce M. Degl, 62, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, Hudson.
She was born in Waycross, Ga., and moved to this area 20 years ago from Jacksonville. She owned and operated the Suncoast Travel Agency since 1982 in Hudson. From 1990, she went on to manage Kimberly Travel in Port Charlotte for several years before retiring.

Kirby Lee Hopkins, 50, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Brooksville.
Mr. Hopkins worked for the City of Brooksville as a heavy equipment operator and was Pentecostal by faith.

William J. Buckner, 73, of Brooksville, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007 at his home. He was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and moved to this area three years ago from Port Richey.
Mr. Buckner was a college maintenance technician, a U.S. Army veteran, a VFW member, a volunteer and past president of the Fireman’s Association, and a Protestant by faith.

Dorothy Rita Yold, 86, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice House, Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville. She was born in New York, N.Y., and moved to this area 24 years ago from Los Angeles, Calif.
Mrs. Yold was a retired administrative assistant for Forbes magazine and a Corporal in the Women’s Army Corps, having served in the Pentagon and Papua, New Guinea.
Survivors include her husband, William “Billy”; and two nieces, Beth Ann Butera and Susan Miller.

Mr. Martinez was a restaurant chef, a World War II and Korean War U.S. Army veteran and a Catholic by faith.

Mitchell M. Konarski, 86, of Brooksville, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007 at his home. He was born in Akron, Ohio, and moved to this area three years ago from Charlotte, N.C.
Mr. Konarski was a Christian by faith and attended Elderhostels where he performed as a singer.

He was born in North Chicago, Ill., and moved to this area 13 years ago from Waukegan, Ill. He worked as a supervisor for West Vaco Envelope Co. for 42 years, was an avid golfer, loved gardening, was a member of Springwood Estates Crime Watch, served in the U.S. Army, and was of the Catholic faith.

Samuel R. Block, 74, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004 under the care of Hospice in Brooksville.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and came to this area 25 years ago from Queens, N.Y. He was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church. He retired as a youth counselor for HRS with the state of Florida, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Jude Council, Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge No. 521, Elks Lodge, Cortez Blvd, Brooksville. He also enjoyed playing golf and coaching youth sports.

He was a retired schoolteacher, having taught at Spring Valley High School and Rockland County Community College, New York. He was a Korean conflict U.S. Air Force veteran, a member and past treasurer of the Hernando Aero Modelers Club, and a Christian by faith.

Mr. Dugger was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in the European Theatre including Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge.

Alexander N. “Alex” Civello, 69, of Weeki Wachee, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 at Oak Hill Hospital. He was born in Corona, Long Island, N.Y., and moved to this area 22 years ago from Long Island.
Mr. Civello owned and operated Bi County Counseling Center, Spring Hill. He was a playwright for Off Broadway shows, developed a program for the National Maritime Union for alcohol and drug rehabilitation that was implemented nationwide, was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carmina; a daughter, Simone Civello-Myers of Pensacola; a brother, Louis Civello of Sedona, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.
