She was born in Edneyville, N.C., and moved to this area 32 years ago from St. Petersburg. She was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include two sons, Walter C. of Pensacola and James M. of St. Petersburg; a daughter, Ella A. Tanner of Spring Hill; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

David Douglas Laszlo, 50, of Hudson, formerly of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002 at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, Hudson.
He was born in Detroit, Mich., and moved to Hudson from Spring Hill seven years ago. He was a retired electrical engineer from Chrysler Corp., Troy, Mich., and worked as a house painter while in Florida.
Survivors include his companion, Dorothy Foti of Hudson; his mother, Elizabeth E. Jose of Gould City, Mich.; three brothers, John J. of Sarasota, Tom M. of White Lake, Mich., and Frank L. of Highland, Mich.; and three sisters, Patricia J. Veliquette of Bellaire, Mich., Marie E. Schram of Spring Hill and Theresa A. of Germfask, Mich.

Thomas A. Kallmeyer, 70, of Timber Pines, Spring Hill, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002 at Spring Hill Regional Hospital.
He was born in New York City, N.Y., and moved to this area eight years ago from Pennsylvania. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the U.S. Government as senior executive servant after 42 years. He attended St. Theresa Catholic Church, Spring Hill, and was a member of Timber Pines Golf Association, NARFE, and AARP. He was awarded the Superior Civilian Service Award in 1989 by the USGA.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; two sons, Thomas of Missoula, Mont., and Douglas of Arlington, Va.; two brothers, Paul of East Hampton, N.Y., and Jerry of Barefoot Bay, Fla.; three sisters, Valerie of Pulaski, N.Y., and Mary Holland of Haverstraw, N.Y., and Patricia Bacon of Bonita Springs, Fla.

Joseph O. Engelhardt, 81, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Brooksville.
He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., and moved to this area 17 years ago from Burlington, Wis. He was a carpenter and retired from General Motors maintenance department in 1983 and was a World War II U.S. Navy Construction Battalion veteran and served in the South Pacific.
Survivors include his wife, Audette; three daughters, Margaret McDonough of Wisconsin, and Patricia James and Susan Becktol, both of Oregon; two sons, Burdette of Wisconsin and Raymond of Florida; a sister, Muriel Pape of Milwaukee; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three nephews, Russell Craft of Colorado, and Grant Thomas and Richard Rurey, both of Wisconsin; and a niece, Janet of Wisconsin.

John W. Peelle, 86, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002 at Evergreen Woods, Brooksville.
He was born in Indianapolis, Ind., and moved to this area 21 years ago from Richmond, Ind. He retired from the Peelle Company after 62 years. He was a 33rd Degree of Scottish Rite, Indianapolis, and a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, San Mateo Masonic Lodge, California, and Murat Shrine Temple, Indianapolis.
Survivors include two sons, Charles F. and Donald R., both of Spring Hill; four daughters, Jacqueline Elzinga of Hudsonville, Mich., Gail Kiracafe of Ozark, Ala., Astrid Browing of Milwaukee and Geney Heaton of Spring, Texas; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Jesse C. Hall, 82, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002 at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in Mebane, N.C., and moved to this area 19 years ago from Cape Cod, Mass. He was a retired FBI Special Agent for 20 years, a World War II U.S. Army Air Corp veteran, where he was in the 93rd Bombardment Group. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and was a graduate of the command and general staff school in Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
Survivors include his wife, Mary K.; four daughters, Cecilia of Provincetown, Mass., Ann Hall Malan of Longmont, Colo., Jessica E. of Madera, Calif., and Karen Ann of Clearwater; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Marjorie H. Lastinger, 78, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002.
She was born in Miami and moved to this area eight years ago from Tampa. She worked as a shell crafter for a novelty manufacturer and was a Lutheran by faith.
Survivors include a son, Lloyd of Weirsdale, Fla.; a daughter, Cynthia M. Carley of Spring Hill; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Sara E. Cain, 71, of Brooksville, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
She was born in Bloomsburg, Pa., and was a seasonal resident of Brooksville for the past eight years, moving to this area two years ago from Horsham, Pa. She was a former manager with Bell Atlantic Telephone Company, an active member of Nativity Lutheran Church, Weeki Wachee, where she was the assistant choir director, and a former member and choir director of St. John's Lutheran Church, Hatboro, Pa., Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 279, Bloomsburg, Bell Pioneers and Bell Telephone Family Campers Club.
Survivors include her husband, John B.; two sons, William P. of Willow Grove, Pa., and John B. of Limerick, Pa.; a daughter, Susan E. Richelson of Framingham, Mass.; two sisters, Joan Weaver of Tucson, Ariz., and Audrey Metro of Sylvan Lake, Mich.; and two grandchildren.

Maria "Mama" Ponticelli, 94, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002 at Brooksville Regional Hospital.
She was born in Abruzzi, Italy, and moved to this area 11 years ago from Okeechobee, Fla. She was an assembly line supervisor for Cordomatic and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Spring Hill.
Survivors include a son, Alfred of Philadelphia, Pa.; a daughter, Mary Chase of Brooksville; four grandchildren, Ronald L. Jr., Kevin J., Guy D. Bair and Alfred Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Cory and Alexander Bair.

John William Ryan, 82, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at Serenity House, Spring Hill.
He was born in Manhattan, N.Y., and moved to this area nine years ago from Long Island, N.Y. He retired from Boilermakers Local No. 5, was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Long Island, and a Catholic by faith
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Mary Falk and Sheila Gallagher, both of Long Island; a son, John Jr. of Long Island; a sister, Terry Lonergan; and five grandchildren.

Charles R. "Dick" Cottingham, 64, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at his home.
He moved to this area 13 years ago from his native Evansville, Ind. He was a machinist, a member of the Aerospace and Machinist Workers Union since 1965, listed in the Bowlers Hall of Fame in St. Louis, Mo., and was a Protestant by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma; two stepsons, Kristopher Bretz of Spring Hill and Jerald Bretz II of Evansville; two daughters, Sherry Wagner of Gentryville and Karen Fisher of Jasper, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

Paul E. Fuhrmann, 89, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at his home.
He was born in Berlin, Germany, and moved to this area 27 years ago from Philadelphia, Pa. He was a forklift operator for Acme and Albertsons supermarkets for 25 years, a tank commander for the German military and a POW in Russia during World War II. He was an avid boater and fisherman and a Lutheran by faith.
He is survived by his wife, Ursula.

John A. Shaw, 78, of Cloverleaf, Brooksville, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004.
He was born in North Tarrytown, N.Y. He was a longtime Florida resident and moved to Brooksville 16 years ago. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in North Tarrytown and Fort Lauderdale for over 28 years. He was a member of the VFW and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Jean"; a son, Jim Shaw of Tallahassee; a daughter, Carol Dota of Poland, Ohio; two stepsons, Joseph Albee of Tarzana, Calif., and Richard Albee of Maryland; and four grandchildren.

Viola Smith, 87, of Istachatta died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003 under the care of family and Hospice.
She was born in Istachatta and lived in Immokalee for over 50 years. She was Baptist by faith and was rock hound, merchant, and antique dealer. She also loved to go fishing.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce of Istachatta and JoAnn Ramey of Immokalee; a son, Frank of Istachatta; three sisters, Lois Waller and Connie Lafayette of Istachatta, and Bertha Taylor of Felda, Fla.; three grandsons, Aaron and Matthew Ramey and Anthony Smith; one granddaughter, Carlye Mader; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Edward G. Hanley, 60, of Masaryktown, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.

Helen Raffaini, 88, of Brooksville, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Heartland of Brooksville.
She was born in Elmhurst, N.Y., and moved to this area 14 years ago from Elmhurst. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Brooksville.
Survivors include a sister, Julia Deane of Sun City Center; a brother, John Grabinski of Brooksville; four nieces; and four nephews.

Mary Ann Tanoff, 45, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at her home.
She moved to this area 28 years ago from her native St. Petersburg. She was employed at Oak Hill Hospital for over 10 years, starting in ER registration as a secretary, then earned her LPN Degree and worked on the med surgery floor and later the ER. She had recently completed her motorcycle training course and acquired her endorsement.
Survivors include her husband, Mark E.; a son, Charles B. Baum of Brooksville; a daughter, Carol Jo Baum of New Port Richey; a stepson, Justin Tanoff of Brooksville; her father, Noah Graham of Marion, Ohio; two sisters, Terry Kitelinder of Valrico and Gerry Martin of Columbus, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Walter B. Hrycyk, 82, of Brooksville, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in New York and moved to this area 18 years ago. He retired from the New York Daily News as a mechanical engineer after 32 years of service. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, Hernando Sportsman's Club and American Legion Post 186 and was a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Rogers-Hrycyk; two sons, Bryan and Michael, both of Freehold, N.J.; a daughter, Karen of Oldsmar; a stepdaughter, Louise Rogers; and seven grandchildren.
