He was a civilian employee of the U.S. military during World War II and had top secret clearance to help manufacture the "Thunder Bolt" fighter aircraft at Republic Aviation, Long Island, N.Y. He was a chauffeur for the Township of Islip, Long Island, and a charter member of the East Islip Anglers.
