He was a retired math professor at Sauk Valley College, Dixon-Sterling, Ill., a World War II U.S. Army veteran, was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge, awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, and was a Methodist by faith.

He was a professor at the University of Miami-Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Sciences, a Korean conflict U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Society of Icthiology, American Fishery Society and a leading authority on barracuda and ciguatera.

Raymond Beadle Sr., 88, of Evansville, Ind., formerly of Wesleyan Village, Brooksville, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
He graduated from Central High School, Evansville, Ind. in 1934. He worked at Whirlpool Corporation in Evansville for 44 years retiring in 1978. He was a member of Forest Hills Wesleyan Church, Evansville, where he was the church treasurer for eight years and was involved as a Sunday school teacher and choir member.
