She was born in Plymouth, Mich., and moved to this area four years ago from Lewiston, Mich. She was a homemaker and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include her husband, Aram; two sons, Matthew Werstine of Ankeny, Iowa, and Michael Werstine of Taylor, Mich.; two daughters, Karen Werstine of Alpena, Mich., and Deidre Hartsoe of Taylor; a stepson, Aram S. of Spring Hill; two stepdaughters, Debra Bennett of Taylor and Pamela Matternowski of Hudson; four sisters, Gloria, Peggy, Johanna and Pam, all of Michigan; a brother, Peter of Michigan; 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Rodney G. Murrell, of Spring Hill, died Saturday Dec. 15, 2001.
He was born in Rochester, N.Y., and moved to Staten Island, N.Y., Sussex, N.J., and then to this area. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a B&O Railroad dispatcher, a part-time bus driver and a security guard in a gated community. He was a member of the Elks.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Jansen Murrell; four sons, Stan, Ray and Ken; two daughters, Christen Jansen and Shelley; four stepchildren, Glen Jansen, Jan Sisco, Tammy Vicino and Richard Jansen; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

William Anthony Mangieri, 82, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001 at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in New York City, N.Y., and moved to this area nine years ago from Queens, N.Y. He was a retired platform worker for McLean Trucking Company and a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mickey; a son, William of Spring Hill; a daughter, Ellen Mills of Spring Hill; two granddaughters, Allison and Tracey; and a great-granddaughter, Ashley.

John W. Thornton, 91, of Camper's Holiday, Brooksville, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001 at CORE Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was born in Toronto, Canada. He worked in the auto industry until his retirement from A.M. General in 1976 and was a member of the Low Vision Group of the Evansville Blind Association.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas R. of Evansville, Ind., and John of Dallas, Texas; a grandson, John III; four grandchildren, Gabrielle Rought, Anna, Emily, Lydia and Elliot; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her brother, Orlando of Youngstown; her companion, Ralph Connor; a niece, Dr. Donna DeBlasio of Boardman, Ohio; and two nephews, Guy of Cleveland, Ohio, and Vito of Portland, Ore.

Sophie Alpert, 97, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001 at Brooksville Healthcare in the Hospice Unit.
She was born in New York City, N.Y., and was a resident of North Miami for 35 years. She moved to Spring Hill recently to live with her daughter. She was a retired bookkeeper with King Arthur Yarn Company, Manhattan, N.Y. She worked as a volunteer at Villa Maria Nursing Home, North Miami, Lighthouse for the Blind, and North Miami Senior Citizen Foundation; and in 1999, she was honored with an award as volunteer of the year for North Miami.
Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Colletti of Spring Hill and Beverly Carroll of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Olegario Cruz, 75, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice Unit, Brooksville. Born in Guantanamo, Cuba, he moved to this area six years ago from Miami. He was a retired air conditioning technician for Mt. Sinai Hospital, New York City, N.Y. and a Catholic. He is survived by his wife, Cristina; two sons, Victor of New Haven, Conn., and Charles of Stone Mountain, Ga.; a daughter, Carmen Munera of Spring Hill; a brother, Tommy of Ft. Pierce; three sisters, Irene Busigo and Migelina Hanson, both of Georgia and Connie Quinones of Florida; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Jay S. Staubs, 55, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in Hagerstown, Md., and moved to this area 13 years ago from Key West. He retired from the U.S. Army and was Commander of American Legion Post 186, Brooksville, and was a member of the Sons of American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; a son, Shaun Donaghue of Spring Hill; a twin brother, Jacq of Spring Hill; and his parents, Samuel Staubs of Brooksville and Jacqualyn Staubs of Spring Hill.

She was born in Roselle Park, N.J., and moved to this area 11 years ago from Churchville, Pa. She was a homemaker and a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Gideon's for 20 years and Spring Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Austin; a daughter, Gail Mead of Weeki Wachee; three sisters, Grace Davis of Elington, Beatrice Michalski of Wayside, N.J., and Dorothy Grote of Neptune, N.J.; and a grandchild.

Ernest Baptiste, 89, of Brooksville, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003 at his home.
He was born in Koloa, Kauai, Hawaii, and moved to this area 27 years ago from Gardenia, Calif. He was a retired plumber from Hughes Aircraft in California after 10 years of service and a member of the Huiaikane Hawaiian Club.
Survivors include his wife, Hattie; two sons, Ernest L. of West Palm Beach and Leonard S. of Torrance, Calif.; two daughters, Linda S. Fuchigami of Mesa, Ariz., and Cynthia L. George Riley Moffett, 88, of Masaryktown, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003 at Brooksville Regional Hospital.
He was born in Amory, Miss., and moved to this area 21 years ago from Largo. He was a carpenter for 25 years and was a farmer prior to moving to Florida in 1956. He was a member of First Christian Church, Largo.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie Corinne; two daughters, Virginia Albritton of Masaryktown and Dorothy Overstreet of Micanopy; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was born in West Stockbridge, Mass., and moved to this area 17 years ago from Torrington, Conn. She was a retired machine operator, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Pittsfield, Mass., and a Catholic by faith.

William George "Bill" LaPerle, 74, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003 at his home.
He was born in Lemington, Vt., and moved to this area eight years ago from Brandon. He was a retired U.S. Army staff sergeant serving during World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a lifetime member of the DAV, VFW and American Legion Post 99. He was an Episcopalian by faith.

She was born in Detroit, Mich., and moved to this area 12 years ago from St. Petersburg. She co-owned Stevens Envelope Company, Kansas City, Mo., and was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Spring Hill.

She was a retired executive secretary, a member of Morning Glories Bowling League, Spring Hill, Ladies Auxiliary of Brooksville, Senior Friends of Brooksville, Senior Citizens Club of Hernando County, Spring Hill, and a Protestant by faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Marcia Calarco of Macon, Ga.; one sister, Jean Tuman of Brooksville; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

James Hughes, 62, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002 at Oak Hill Hospital.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and APOA, and a Presbyterian by faith Survivors include a son, Glenn of Roselle, Ill.; a daughter, Tracy Cysewski of Fox River Grove, Ill.; and five grandchildren.
