He retired as a laboratory technician from General Electric Neutron Plant, for the U.S. Department of Energy in Clearwater after 20 years of service, was a Korean conflict U.S. Army veteran, former member and marksman of the G.E. Rifle Club of Clearwater, and a Christian by faith.

He retired from Westinghouse Electric, was a World War II Merchant Marine veteran, attended St. Theresa Catholic Church, Spring Hill, and was a member of Knights of Columbus, Buffalo, and Timber Pines Men's Golf Club. He was a club champion at Timber Pines Golf Course, Audubon Golf Course, N.Y., and Delaware Golf Course, Buffalo. He made 10 hole-in-ones throughout his golfing career.
