He was born in Boston, Mass., and moved to this area 19 years ago from Boston. He was a retired machinist for the U.S. Government with 30 years of service at the Boston Naval Shipyard. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Force veteran, an avid golfer, a member of the Brookridge Golf Club and Freeport Golf Club, Freeport, Maine, where he scored a hole in one, and a member of Brooksville Elks 2582 and St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine; a son, David J. Mellon of Plymouth, Mass.; two daughters, Agnes Mellon Ward of Whitehouse, Texas, and Catherine M.
