Born in Lowell, Mass., he moved to this area 11 years ago from Lander, Wyoming. He was a retired estate tax attorney for the Internal Revenue Service and a member of St. Mary Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, the NARFE and past commander of the American Legion.

Philip W. Austin, 99, of Ridge Manor, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at Heritage Park in Dade City.
A native of Limestone, N.Y., he moved to Ridge Manor 34 years ago from Watkins Glen, N.Y. He was a music teacher in the public schools of Allegany County, N.Y. and also in Long Island, N.Y. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in New York and was a member of the Ridge Manor Community United Methodist Church. He was a railroad enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife, Ernestine; a son, Philip N. Austin of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Phyllis MacDonell of Corning, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
