August "Lou" Berger, 83, of Spring Hill, died Thursday, May 2, 2002 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to this area four years ago from Sarasota, Fla. He retired as an AT&T Telephone Company mechanic in New York. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his brother, John Winkel of Spring Hill; a sister, Mabel Richmond of Spring Hill; and a niece, Dolores Weinman of Sarasota.

Estelle M. Kolson, 86, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, May 4, 2002 at her home.
She was born in Palmerton, Pa., and moved to this area 22 years ago from Alpena, Mich. She was the owner and operator of a meat processing company in Pennsylvania and later worked for Alpena Wholesale Meats in Alpena. She attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Spring Hill, and St. Mary Catholic Church, Alpena, where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality. During World War II, she made uniforms for military personnel.
Survivors include her husband, Francis "Frank"; a daughter, MicheleAnn Rossini of Toledo, Ohio; a son, Frank of Newberry, Mich.; four sisters, Anna Korastinski of Bethlehem, Pa., Patricia Roeschske of Alpena, Olga Csaszar of Spring Hill and Paula Hudacek of Bethlehem; and two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Rebecca.

Charles D. Kruse, 56, of Cloverleaf, Brooksville, died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at his home.
He was born in Brownsville, Pa., and moved to this area 22 years ago from Chicago, Ill. He was a contractor administrator in the paving industry and a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Brooksville.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; two sons, Tyson and Barrett, both of Chicago; his mother, Phyllis Verity of Brooksville; a brother, Walter of Washington State; two sisters, Barbara Wilson of Indiana and Kara Worrall of Illinois; two stepsisters, Ann Liebich and Raquel Rodriguez; and three grandchildren.

Adrian "Chet" Hoffman, 84, of High Point, Brooksville, died Thursday, May 2, 2002.
He was a native of Canton, Ohio, and moved to this area 18 years ago. He was a tool & die machinist throughout most of his working years. He was also a small business owner for 10 years and a courtesy guard for SunTrust Bank Corporation. He was a member of the U.S. Signal Corp in the late 1930s and the U.S. Army Air Corp in the mid-1940s, during which time he saw action in both the African and European Fronts. He was also a member of the High Ridge Square Club, Brotherhood Lodge 375 F&AM, American Legion Post 186, High Point Mobile Patrol and Mariner United Methodist Church, all of Brooksville, and Scottish Rite Bodies and Egypt Shrine Temple, Tampa. He was active in the Boy Scouts with Troop 42 and Masonic Lodge 60, both of Canton.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian, a son, Scott of Poway, Calif.; a sister, Kathryn Winters of Grove City, Ohio; and a granddaughter, Annie.

Kelley Ann Gore, 37, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at her home.
She was born in Medina, N.Y., and moved to this area three years ago from Hudson. She was the owner of Ann's Pets, along with her mother, and attended Love Outreach Church.
Survivors include her husband, Corey; two sons, Dalton and Reece; her parents, Larry and Ann Meister; a brother, Corey Meister of Spring Hill; paternal grandparents, Elmer and Julia Meister, both of Spring Hill; a stepdaughter, Kasey Gore of Maine; a nephew; and two nieces.

Betty Brainard Sill, 90, of Evergreen Woods, Spring Hill, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to this area 25 years ago from Lakewood, Ohio. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Warren D.; two daughters, Martha Wenner of Monroe, Ga., and Janet Eckerfield of Fairfield, Ohio; four grandchildren, a great-grandchild; and a niece.

George H. Graham, 79, of Brooksville, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Spring Hill Regional Hospital.
He was born in Blekely, W.Va., and moved to this area seven years ago. He was a miner and donated to the Sheriff's Youth Programs.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Williams of Ohio; and two half-sisters, Jane Carnell and Jerry Ride, both of West Virginia.

Conrad Hughes, 84, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Brooksville
Regional Hospital.
He was born in Grays, Ky., and moved to this area 34 years ago from Harlan, Ky. He served as a deacon in Baptist churches for over 60 years and attended First Baptist Church of Spring Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Catherine; a son, Billy Hughes of Spring Hill; two daughters, Elizabeth Dougherty and Kathy Engle, both of Spring Hill; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Albert Arthur Dreyer, 78, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in Ozone Park, N.Y., and moved to this area 14 years ago from West Babylon, N.Y. He was a retired plumber, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, and volunteered at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. He was a deacon, a member of Dayspring Presbyterian Church and a Protestant by faith.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Albert Dreyer of Holbrook, N.Y.; a daughter, Diane Van Dett of Spring Hill; two sisters, Alma Cuppenger of East Hampton, N.Y., and Lorraine Ferarara of Bayshore, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Emilen Charles "Charlie" Ponton, 68, of Brooksville, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in Providence, R.I., and moved to this area 18 years ago from Cranston, R.I. He was a self-employed cabinet maker, a Korean War U.S. Air Force veteran, and a Protestant by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Celia; and a son, Ralph Slocum of Brooksville.

Nancy Van R. Reuel, 74, of Spring Hill, died Friday, May 17, 2002 at Spring Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Bayside, N.J., she moved to this area 22 years ago from St. James, Long Island, N.Y. She was a bank officer and a Methodist.
She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Reuel Koepke and Patricia Reuel Redmond, both of Spring Hill; two sons, Kenneth of Orlando and Douglas of Spring Hill; a brother, Robert Van Riper of Connecticut; and a grandson, Jared.

Albert J. Simendinger, 87, of Spring Hill, died Friday, May 17, 2002 at Hernando Hospice House, Brooksville.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., he moved to this area 22 years ago from there. He retired after 45 years as a food chemist for Byrnes & Kiefer Baker's supply company; was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, the Brooksville Elks 2582, the Pennsylvania Club and a life member of the VFW 10209, Spring Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; a daughter, Jeannette Ackerman of Duluth, Ga.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mildred M. Whitehurst, 61, of Brooksville, died Saturday, May 18, 2002 at her residence.
Born in St. Petersburg, she moved back to this area from Woody Creek, Colo. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Albert Whitehurst of Brooksville; two daughters, Lynn Johnston of Brooksville and Lee Towns of Myaaka City; a son, James Johnston of Brooksville; two brothers, Arthur Hopkins of St. Petersburg and Charlie Hopkins of Ozella; five sisters, Betty Hopkins of St. Petersburg, Louise Gibson of St. Petersburg, Gloria Darley of Glenwood, Colo., Loretta Taylor of St. Petersburg and Yvette Bolte of St. Petersburg; and seven grandchildren.

Erna Appell, 89, of Spring Hill, died Monday, July 2, 2001 at Beverly Health & Rehab Center.
She was born in Laupheim, Germany, and moved to this area a year ago from Danbury, Conn. She was a retired nurse.
She is survived by her sister, Henny Benes of Spring Hill.

James Spulak
James Spulak, 84, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001 under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Brooksville.
He moved to this area 30 years ago from his native Chicago, Ill. He was a retired barber, a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 79, New Port Richey.
Survivors include his wife, Olga; and two nephews.

Joyce Ramsey Foreman
Joyce Ramsey Foreman, 60, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001 at her home.
She was born in Front Royal, Va., and moved to this area five years ago from Baltimore, Md. She retired from Social Security Administration as director of personnel, was a graduate of College of William and Mary, a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Hernando County Women's Golf Association and Brooksville Golf & Country Club, and a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include her husband, William; a son, Timothy of Greenville, S.C.; and her mother, Elizabeth C. Ramsey of Walkerton, Va.

Stanley C. Rutkowski, 87, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003 at his home.
He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and moved to this area 25 years ago from Detroit, Mich. He retired as a supervisor from the Farmer Jack Grocery Chain. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; two daughters, Camille Schatz of Ortonville, Mich., and Christine Stephenson of Northville, Mich.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Joseph H. Beney, 80, of Brooksville, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003 at Brooksville Regional Hospital.
He was born in Burlington, Vt., and moved to this area 12 years ago from St. Petersburg. He was a machinist for Pratt & Whitney, making aircraft engines for TWA. He was a member of the Machinist Union, working for P/W Aircraft, attended music school in Auburn, Maine, played in the band "Son of the Pioneers" and was a member of Spring Lake Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Linda J.; five sons, Henry G. of Dade City, Joseph Raymond of New Jersey, Roger Paul of Brooksville, and Bobby LeCrone and Kevin Allen LeCrone, both of St. Petersburg; three daughters, Linda Kelbaugh of Brooksville, JoAnn Marie Lawyer of Fort Myers and Ginger Stellwag of St. Petersburg; a sister, Theresa Vachon of Lewiston, Maine; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Richard Wheeler Stimler, 81, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003 at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in Farmer City, Ill., and moved to this area 19 years ago from Hammond, Ind. He retired from Lever Brothers, Hammond, after over 36 years of service. He was a part-time employee at the Publix Supermarket at Barclay Crossing. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a life member of American Legion Post 186, Calumet Memorial American Legion Post 330 and VFW Post 10209, a member of Retiree's Club of Lever Brothers, a former Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church, Hammond, former volunteer Boy Scout leader in Hammond, past president of Indiana Social Club of Hernando County and First United Methodist Church, Spring Hill, and an active member of the First United Methodist Church Men's Club.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine J.; a son, Gary Lee of Hammond; two daughters, Debbie Berry of Spring Hill and Sandra Jean Stimler-Bemet of Highland, Ind.; a brother, Donald of Decatur, Ill.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Peter T. Vasiliou, 51, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003 at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, Hudson.
He was born in Sunnyside, N.Y., and moved to this area 19 years ago from Flushing, N.Y. He owned and operated the Golden Cue in Hudson at one time and most recently Videoland in Spring Hill. He was active in the Youth Adult League at Spring Hill Lanes. He graduated from Florida Air Academy and was Greek Orthodox by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Andrea L.; three sons, Tom Vasiliou and Craig Farber, both of Spring Hill, and Jonathan Farber of Tampa; a daughter, Nancy MacAlpine of Spring Hill; a sister, Anthea Teufel of Fort Myers; a granddaughter; and a niece and nephew.

Survivors include her parents, Lynn M. and John A. Earley; two brothers, Jonathan and Michael Kiesznowski; paternal grandmother, Joan Kiesznowski; maternal grandmother, Edna Jelks; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Survivors include three sisters, Caroline Thomas of Hackettstown, N.J., Marie McWalters of Keansburg, N.J., and Irene H. Kirby of Cape May, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
