He was born in Detroit, Mich., and moved to this area 23 years ago from Warren, Mich. He was an insurance claims adjuster and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Leland Daune Johansen, 73, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004 under the care of Hospice in Brooksville. He was born in Dorrance, Kan. And came to this area 16 years ago from Windsor, Va. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1968 after serving two tours in Korea, Greece and Brazil. He also retired as postmaster in Windsor in 1988. He was a member of the Association of Postmasters, American Legion Post #284, Colonial Heights, Va. and a member of Northcliffe Baptist Church as well as the Willing Workers Sunday school class.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara of Spring Hill; son Leland Dwane Jr. of Tarpon Springs and Bruce Lee of Mechanicsville, Va.; a brother, Vernon L. Johansen of Carroll, Ia.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Regina De Los Santos, 91, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, June 26, 2004 at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville. She was born in the Dominican Republic and came here in 1997 from New York. She was Pentecostal by faith.
She is survived by her son, Ramon De Los Santos of Spring Hill; a sister, Zacarias Vorst of Curesay, Holland; one grandson and two great grandchildren.

Harold E. Martin, 80, of Brooksville, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit in Brooksville. He was born in Brainardsville, N.Y., and came to this area in 1990 from Hudson. He was Methodist by faith and a member of the Masonic Whiteface Mountain Lodge #789 in Saranac Lake, N.Y.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara of Brooksville; four sons, James of Salaminca, N.Y., William of St. Regis Falls, N.Y., Edward of Vermontville, N.Y. and Richard of Paul Smiths, N.Y.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Beatrice V. Gallagher of Spring Hill died Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at her home under the care of her family and Hernando-Pasco Hospice.

She was a registered nurse, a graduate of Park Avenue Hospital Nursing School in Rochester, N.Y., a U.S. Navy veteran serving on the USS Relief AH1, a member of the Navy Nurse Corps Association, American Legion Post 208 in Spring Hill, WAVES Unit 27 of West Coast Florida, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and the Women's Club of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church where she was a member.

He was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. and a resident of Hernando County for the past 15 years coming from Long Island, N.Y. He was a retired engineer for Grumman Aircraft Manufacturing and Catholic by faith.
He is survived by a sister, Ann Shepherd of Deer Park, N.Y.; two nephews, one niece and two great nephews.

He was born in Detroit, Mich., and moved to this area 20 years ago from Mount Clemens, Mich. He was Catholic by faith. He retired from the Mt. Clemens Fire Department as fire marshal. He was a World War II POW veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and traveling.

Flora Louise Burchfield, 81, of Floral City, died at home Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004 under the care of her family and Hospice. A native of Sydney, Fla., she was born Sept. 1, 1922 to the late John L. and Louise Hooker. She came to Citrus County from Tampa where she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tampa for 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Floral City and the Floral City Chapter of TOPS.
Survivors include her son, Matthew J. Burchfield, of Brooks, Ga.; her daughter, Vicki Lynn Eng of Brooksville; four brothers, George L. Hooker of Inverness, Willliam B. She was born in Bridgeport, Conn., and came to this area 21 years ago from Seymour, Conn. She was a practical nurse and a self-taught bookkeeper. She was past president of Bridgeport Women's Chapter of UNICO and former bookkeeper for Colonial Service Center in Seymour. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.

Floyd L. Stowers, 85, of Brooksville died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004 at the Hospice House on Cortez Boulevard. He was born in Oblong, Ill. and came here in 1975 from Merrillville, Ind. He was a Baptist by faith and a member of the Blessed Hope Church in Hudson. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in World War II. and worked at the Sinclair Oil Refinery in Whiting, Ill.
He is survived by his two daughters, Faith Schulte of Merrillville and Faye DeMaria of Spring Hill; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Born in Philadelphia, she came here two years ago from Lake Worth. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.
McElhaney was a watercolor artist and seamstress.

Lt Col. Charles Francis Porter, 78, of Spring Hill died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005 at Spring Hill Health and Rehab.
Born in Middletown, N.Y., he came here five months ago from Upper Marlboro, Md.
He was a pilot and retired as a lieutenant colonel after 30 years in the U.S. Air Force. He served in both World War II and the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the Andrew's Air Force Base Retired Bowling League and an active member and supporter of the Andrew's Air Force Base Hospital Chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Linda Ann Labor of Arcadia, Fla. and Jeannine Marie Hatcherson of Brooksville; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
