William "Bill" Lasley
William "Bill" Lasley of Morriston died Sept. 23 at his home. He was 64.
Mr. Lasley was born in West Lewisburg, Ky., and moved to this area more than 10 years ago from Redlands.
He was a retired electronics technician. He attended the First Baptist Church of Williston.
Mr. Lasley enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He loved attending festivals, especially bluegrass and gospel music festivals.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Kathy Lasley of Morriston; a son, Mark William Lasley of Oldsmar; a daughter, Angela June McCutcheon of St. Augustine; brothers James Wade McKelvey of Hommassee Springs and Butch McKelvey of Hendersonville, Tenn.; sisters Sarah Kunz and Cathy Miller of Decatur, Tenn., and Linda Lamb and Alice Hufstedler, both of Hendersonville; and two grandchildren.
Melvie Mae Embry
Melvie Mae Embry of Bronson died Sept. 24, 2003, at Doctors Memorial Hospital in Perry. She was 76.
Ms. Embry was born in Chiefland and was a lifetime resident of the area. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include nieces Mattie Blitch of Bronson and Elizabeth Lindley, Rena Swain and Ann Stanford, all of Baton Rouge, La.
Marie Wilkerson
Marie Wilkerson of Cedar Key died Sept. 24 in Gainesville. She was 82.
Mrs. Wilkerson was born in Cedar Key and was a lifetime resident. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First United Church in Cedar Key.
Survivors include sons John Stevens of Inglis and Everett Stevens of Alachua; a stepson, James Wilkerson of Chiefland; daughters Harriet Thompson of Cedar Key and Pearl Bradley of Macclenny; stepdaughters Irene Hardin of Chiefland and Cleo Allen of Middleburg; 11 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Juanita "Janie" Hernandez
Juanita "Janie" Hernandez of Williston died August 2, 2004, at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville.
She was 52.
Ms. Hernandez was born in Guajillo, Texas, and moved to Williston from Lake Worth in 1994. She was a horticulturalist.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Williston.
Survivors include sisters Maria Calvillo of Bronson, Ramona Carrillo of Williston and Biolonda Bairam of St. Petersburg; and a brother, Lupe Alvarez of Williston.
Pamela S. Shumaker
Pamela S. Shumaker of Archer died July 31, 2004 in Gainesville. She was 45.
Ms. Shumaker was born in Pittsburgh and moved to this area from New Jersey in 2000. She was director of communications at Liberty Communications.
She attended St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.
Survivors include her companion of 20 years, Richard Pasznik of Archer; and sisters Debbie Lamb of Eagle River, Alaska, Diane Ramsell of Shalersville, Ohio, Kim Shumaker of Moose Pass, Alaska, Tommi Benton of Anchorage, Alaska, and her identical twin, Patti Shumaker of Williston.
