Elizabeth J. Baker, 67
Mrs. Elizabeth J. Baker of Chiefland died Dec. 16, 2003, in Ocala. She was 67 years old.
Mrs. Baker was born in East Hampton, Mass., and came to this area from Holyoke, Mass., 10 years ago. She was a bookkeeper, a member of Levy County VOICE and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Baker.
Survivors include her husband, William Baker of Chiefland; sons, William Baker of Summersworth, N.H., and Timothy Baker of Fanning Springs; daughters, Virginia Bisson and Bethann L'apointe, both of Westfield, Mass., Denise Abar of Crowesville, Maine, and Diane Charron of Chicopee Falls, Mass.; a brother, William Beaulieu of Hoyoke, Mass.; 22 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, at the Knauff Funeral Home, Chiefland.
Benjamin Holmes Morris, 64
Mr. Benjamin Holmes Morris of Chiefland died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004. He was 64 years old.
Mr. Morris was born in Gainesville and had lived here his entire life.
He was a former business owner.
Survivors include his mother, Ferrell Morris of Otter Creek; a son, Monty Morris of Chiefland; a brother, John Morris of Otter Creek; five grandchildren, Chance Morris, Charissa Morris, Zack Morris, Autumn White and Trey White.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Jan. 9, 2004 at Hiers/Baxley Funeral Home.
Arrangements were under the care of Hiers/Baxley Funeral Home of Chiefland.
Frances Carlisle, 79
Mrs. Frances Carlisle, loving mother and grandmother, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003 at the Legacy House in Ocala. She was 79 years old.
Mrs. Carlisle was born in Talladega, Ala., and moved to Williston over 42 years ago from Newberry. She was a member of the Williston Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Weeks Carlisle.
Survivors include two sons, J. L. Carlisle of Williston and John A. Carlisle of Seffner; five daughters, Patricia C. Taylor, Jacksonville, Janice Osteen, Demeris C. Arrington, Darlene Hopping and Shirley Schultz, all of Williston; a brother, Billy Pogue of Jacksonville; four sisters, Geneva Thornton of Inverness, Mary Arnette of Jacksonville, Bettye Hollifield of Tallahassee and Louise Farrell of New Port Richey; 17 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Legacy House, 9505 SW 110 Street, Ocala, FL 34481.
Funeral arrangements were made by Knauff Funeral Home, Williston.
Lester W. "Pete" Carlisle, 82
Lester W. "Pete" Carlisle of Williston died Nov. 24, 2003, at Legacy House in Ocala after a brief illness. He was 82.
Mr. Carlisle was born in Newberry, and moved to Williston in 1961. He was a retired superintendent for the Florida Department of Transportation, where he worked for 28 years.
He was a member of the Williston Church of God.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth Carlisle of Williston; daughters Patricia C. Taylor of Jacksonville and Janice C. OSteen, Demeris C. Arrington, Darlene C. Hopping and Shirley Schultz, all of Williston; sons J.L. Carlisle of Williston and John A. Carlisle of Seffner; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
