Faye T. Layfield, 74
Mrs. Faye T. Layfield of Trenton died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003 in Trenton. She was 74 years of age.
Mrs. Layfield was born in Tampa and came to this area from Gainesville 41 years ago. She was a hairdresser and was a member of the Church of Christ in Trenton.
She was a member of Woodman of the World and was a 4-H leader for 21 years.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Layfield of Trenton; a daughter, Adrienne Mae Lubrano of Keystone Heights; two sons, Joel Vernon Layfield and Randall Scott Layfield, both of Trenton; two half-sisters, Violet Green of Bushnell and Betty Clipper of Tampa.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 at the Church of Christ in Trenton with burial following in Pine Grove Cemetery. Kent Heaton officiated at the service.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of Watson Funeral Home of Trenton.
Irma Griffin McNatt, 74
Mrs.Irma Griffin McNatt of Ocala died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004 at the Legacy House in Ocala. She was 74 years of age.
Mrs. McNatt was born in Adel, Ga and moved to this area over 18 years ago from Orlando. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Ocala and was also a member of the Levy County Quilt Club. She enjoyed quilting, painting and fishing.
Her husbands, James Leland Register and Ralph McNatt preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Register of Williston and Frank Register of Orlando; two brothers, Perry Griffin and Hendon Griffin, both of Nashville, Ga; two sisters, Ruth Rhodes of Webster and Yvonne Nix of Lakeland, Ga; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the care of Knauff Funeral Home of Williston.
Addie Lee Sanchez, 94
Mrs. Addie Lee Sanchez of Trenton died February 5, 2004 in Gainesville. She was 94 years old.
Mrs. Sanchez was born in Gilchrist County and lived there all of her life.
She was a Gilchrist County employee and a member of Union Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband H. J. Sanchez, Sr.; and daughter, Fleeta Tryon and son, Frances Sanchez.
Survivors are her daughter, Mary Fisher of Chiefland, Alma Driggers of Cross City and Sherry Rogers of Baytown, TX; sons, H. J. Sanchez, Jr. of Gainesville and Herman Sanchez of Cross City; sister, Lossie Deen of Trenton; 20 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held Sunday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m., at Watson Funeral Home Chapel, Trenton. Burial was in Trenton Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of Watson Funeral Home, Trenton.
Lessie P. Bennett, 88
Ms. Lessie P. Bennett of Cross City died on March 1, 2004, at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville. She was 88 years of age.
Ms. Bennett was born in Trenton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cross City Church of Christ. She loved the outdoors, fishing, baseball and NASCAR racing.
Ms. Bennett is survived by her daughter, Janice Bennett Strickland of Cross City; son, James W. Bennett of Beaumont, Texas; brothers Eudell Parrish and L. R. Parrish, both of Trenton; grandchildren Mike Cassidy, Leslie Cassidy, Terri Varnes, Tonda Varnes and Jamie Bennett; great-grandchildren Micah Cassidy, Zach Cassidy, Austin Cassidy, Heath Montgomery, Bobby VanAernam, Stacey Hamilton, Corey Petty, Kayla Petty, Cason Petty and Janna Varnes; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bennett.
Her funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at the Cross City Church of Christ, with the Rev. Gordan Dasher officiating. Burial will follow at New Prospect Cemetery.
