Sarasota and Bradenton
Jean S. Quarmby, 82, of Sarasota and Bradenton died June 19 at home under the care of Hospice.
She came to this area from Lansing, Mich. in 1946 with her husband Charles who served as band director in Manatee, Sarasota, Miami-Dade and Brevard counties. She was a registered nurse and supervisor of nurses at Manatee Memorial Hospital as well as Infections Control nurse in Brevard and Miami-Dade counties. She was very active at the Gulf Gate and Sunrise Golf Clubs of Sarasota.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; a son Thomas of Sarasota; two grandchildren; Scott of Austin, Texas; and Tricia Terry of Langhorne, Pa.; and two great-grandchildren, Quinn and Nicholas.
No services are planned at this time, but a memorial service is planned at a later date. ICS Cremation Society Inc. of Harbor Heights, Fla. is in charge.

Donna Andrea Pavelski, Bradenton
Donna Andrea Pavelski, 55, of Bradenton, passed away Friday.
Visitation is Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th Street West, Bradenton. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton. Online condolences may be made to www.shannonfuneralhomes.com.

Ms. Betty Steinbarger Cherry, 85, formerly of Bradenton, died Wednesday.

Betty Steinbarger Cherry, Garland, Texas
Betty Steinbarger Cherry, 85, Garland, Texas, formerly of Bradenton, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, in Texas.
Ms. Cherry was born on January 24, 1919, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and moved to Manatee County in 1953 coming from Dayton, Ohio. She was a 1936 graduate of Steele High School in Dayton, Ohio, and went on to attend the Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio and received her Doctorate of Education Degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.
Ms. Cherry retired from the Manatee County School System, where she worked as an educator for 34 years. During her career she served as a teacher at Ballard Elementary, the Principal of Happiness House, and retired as Supervisor of Exceptional Child Education. Her various memberships included Christ Episcopal Church in Bradenton, member Chi Omega, Delta Kappa Gamma Education Honorary, Phi Delta Kappa, Osceloa Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution, Business & Professional Women's Club, American Association of University Women, Zonta, St. Anne's Chapter. She moved to Westminster Shores in St. Petersburg in 1991 and then in December of 2003 moved to Texas to be near her family.
Ms. Cherry is survived by her daughter and son-law, Charlene and Richard Monahan of Garland, Texas, grandchildren, Ryan Monahan of Richardson, Texas, Shannon (Michael) Lauritzen of Dallas, Texas.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th St. W., Bradenton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Christ Episcopal Church, 4030 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton. Committal service will be held at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday at the Royal Palm Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Fla. Online condolences may be made to www.shannonfuneralhomes.com. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 7610 North Stemmons, Suite 600, Dallas, TX 75247.

Seldon F. "Taddy" Darr, Parrish
Seldon F. "Taddy" Darr, 83, of Parrish, died June 18, 2004.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 22, 1-2 p.m., with service following at 2 p.m. at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Mansion Chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine and son, Bruce of Parrish.
He was the former chaplain for the Parrish Fire Department.

Norma Moses Kirkley, Bradenton
Norma Moses Kirkley, 102, of Bradenton, died June 19, 2004.
Survivors include daughter, Arden McKennee of Bradenton; son-in-law, James Vassar; stepdaughter, Mary Elizabeth Kirkley; stepson, William Kirkley; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may go to Southeastern Guide Dogs Inc. 4210 77th St. E., Palmetto, Fla. 34221.

Lois Anne Schopp, Bradenton
Lois Anne Schopp, 72, of Bradenton, died June 18, 2004.
Service will be held at the convenience of the family in Buffalo, N.Y.
Survivors include her husband, Donald; daughter, Terri L. Spear; sons, Mark C. Hall and Scott E. Hall; and four grandchildren.

Joseph James, MacDonald Sr., Laurel Hill, N.C.
Joseph James MacDonald Sr., 63, of Laurel Hill, N.C., died June 14, 2004, at home.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Mr. MacDonald was born May 23, 1941, in Limestone, Maine, the son of the late Edward H. and Dorothy M. MacDonald. He was a self-employed auto mechanic, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and attended St. Mary Catholic Church.
He is survived by his children, Joseph "Joe" MacDonald Jr., and Thomas "Tom" MacDonald, both of Bradenton, and Patricia M. McDonald, of Dover, N.J.; brothers, Robert MacDonald, of Boonton, N.J., and Richard MacDonald, of Bradenton; sisters, Shelia Tuttle, of Fredon, N.J., and Paula Gibson, of Laurel Hill, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
Richard Boles Funeral Service is serving the family.

Frederick E., "Fred" Butts, Morris, Ill.
Frederick E. "Fred" Butts, 70, Morris, Ill., died June 18, 2004, at Morris Hospital in Morris, Ill.
He enjoyed his retirement years in St. Petersburg and Ellenton, Fla., returning to Morris to be with his family earlier this year.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 22, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Morris, Ill., with Rev. Robert Hoffenkamp officiating. Interment in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at U.C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd. Memorial gifts can be directed to Easter Seals of Joliet, Ill. or Morris Hospital Foundation.

Dorothy Zeiser, Bradenton
A funeral service for Dorothy Zeiser, 85, of Bradenton, who passed away June 16, 2004, will be held today at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach, Fla.
The family will receive friends from noon until the start of the service.

Geraldine Bergner, Bradenton
Geraldine Bergner, 85, of Bradenton, died June 17, 2004.
Private services to be held at a later date.
Former piano teacher, organist and choir director; member of First Presbyterian Church of Bradenton, she was survived by her daughter, Laura Nann of Toms River, N.J.; son, David of Sodus, N.Y.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson.

Marjorie Rae Robinson, 61, of Bradenton, died June 16, 2004.
All services are private for the family.
Survivors are: daughters, Marlene, Kristin and Gale; son, Gregory; sisters, Mary and Marlene; brother, John; and five grandchildren.
