Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Thayer Funeral Home, 327 E. Franklin St., Winchester. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Franklin St., Winchester, with the Rev. Cynthia Jennison officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Franklin St., Winchester, Ind. 47394.
Born in Chester, Pa., the Rev. Whitby was a former resident of Manatee County. He began his ministry at First Presbyterian Church of Bradenton, and he was a minister at Winchester First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Winchester Ministerial Association, and the Rotary Club of Winchester.
Survivors include his wife, Linda L.; a daughter, Heatherlynn of Winchester; three sons, Jay and Kris, both of Pennsylvania, and Joshua, of Florida; a stepson, Scott Seliga of Winchester; his parents, William Sr. and Ruth, of Bradenton; a sister, Ruth Lennon of New Jersey; a brother, Robert, of Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren.

Christine Lynne Winter, 32, of Bradenton, died June 24, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Battle Creek, Mich., Mrs. Winter came to Manatee County from Roselle, Ill., 12 years ago. She was a crew trainee at Wendy's Restaurant.
Survivors include her husband, David Dillow; a daughter, Jessica Holt of Bradenton; her mother, Olivia Wright of Cortland, Ill.; her father, Charles R. Coon of Battle Creek; and two brothers, Charles R. Coon Jr. of Cortland, and Charles "Gabe" W. Wright III of Elgin, Ill.

Claire Miller Bennett, 84, of Ellenton, died June 27, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Crawfordsville, Ind., Mrs. Bennett came to Manatee County from Indianapolis in 1980. She was a fire clerk at American State Insurance in Indianapolis. She was a member of the Colony Cove Hobby Club, the Bradenton Order of Eastern Star, and the Sahib Shrine Ladies Club of Sarasota.
Survivors include her husband, Robert N.; a daughter, Judith Bennett Johnson of Indianapolis; three sisters, Mildred Lane of New Market, Ind., and Naomi Merrell and Elizabeth Bell, both of Crawfordsville; and two grandchildren.

John B. Cooper, 72, of Bradenton, died June 27, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Charleston, N.C., Mr. Cooper came to Manatee County from Rockford, Ill., in 1979. He was an oiler mechanic for an orange juice company. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Born in Nashville, Tenn., Mrs. Foskey came to Manatee County from Moultrie, Ga., in 1984. She was a homemaker. She was Baptist.

Harold Andrew Haas, 80, of South Harwich, Mass., and winter resident of Bradenton, died June 27, 2001, in Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Church, 72 Highland Ave., Chatham, Mass., followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Island Pond Cemetery in Harwich. Born in Dubuque, Iowa, Mr. Haas was a winter resident of Manatee County. He was a retired construction supervisor from Leominster Engineering Co., Leominster, Mass. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Church. He served as an aviation radioman 2nd class in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and he received the Distinguished Flying Cross with three silver stars, the American Theater of War, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with four stars, and the 3rd Fleet Commendation Ribbon.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; three daughters, Janice Ramaska of Derry, N.H., Cassandra Rodier of Exeter, N.H., and Sharon Belanger of Milbridge, Maine; three sons, Thomas J., of Leominster, Michael R., of South Harwich, and Stephen, of Brewster, Mass.; a sister, Rita Ray of Columbus Junction, Iowa; two brothers, William, of Davenport, Iowa, and Maurice, of Casper, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Domer G. Murphy, 94, of Bradenton, died June 28, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Wabash County, Mr. Murphy came to Manatee County from Pompano Beach in 1966. He was a transportation clerk for the U.S. Postal Service.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
