Clara Elnora Bruno, 76, of Bradenton, died Nov. 30, 2001, in Blake Medical Center in Bradenton.
Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Covell Cremation and Funeral Center, 4232 26th St. W., Bradenton, with the Rev. John Isom officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 2792, Sarasota, Fla. 34230-2792.
Born in Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Bruno came to Manatee County from there in 1983. She was an author of children's books.
Survivors include a son, Robert, of Jacksonville; two sisters, Helen Spaulding of Upland, Calif., and Betty Corkran of Atlanta; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Jack. V. Doriot

Jack V. Doriot, 87, of Bradenton, died Dec. 9, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.
Committal service with full honor guard will be 11 a.m. Friday at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery. Born in Hanford, Calif., Col. Doriot came to Manatee County from Fort Gordon, Ga., in 1969. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired as a colonel after 32 years of service. He was Catholic. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 24, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10141; and Disabled American Veterans Post No. 18, all of Bradenton.
Survivors include his wife, Celerina; three daughters, Katherine Rebel of Wesley Chapel, Janis Greenwood of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Phyllis Emmett of Annapolis, Md.; a son, Victor, of Lancaster, Calif.; a sister, Catherine Smith of Bristol, Va.; and six grandchildren.
Flora E. Fletcher

Flora E. Fletcher, 85, of Bradenton, died Dec. 10, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.
Visitation will be 4-5 p.m. today at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 1221 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton, followed by service at 5 p.m. Graveside service will be in Orchard Grove Cemetery in Kittery, Maine, in the spring. Burial will be in Orchard Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Born in Kittery, Mrs. Fletcher came to Manatee County from there in 1996. She was a postal clerk, retired after 20 years of service. She attended First Baptist Church in Kittery Point, Maine. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Warren P.; two daughters, Janet Wilson of Sunrise, and Natalie, of Sarasota; and four grandchildren.
Arden Gardner

Arden "Hum" Gardner, 81, of Palmetto, died Dec. 8, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.
Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 501 26th St. W., Palmetto, with the Rev. Absalom Coutinho officiating. Inurnment will be in Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton. Griffith-Cline Funeral Homes, Mansion Chapel, Ellenton, is in charge of arrangements. Born in Lonaconing, Md., Mr. Gardner came to Manatee County from Akron, Ohio, in 1986. He was a machinist at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Stow, Ohio, for 32 years. He attended Holy Cross Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion in Pittsburgh, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Magodore, Ohio, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Palmetto for 14 years.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine; two daughters, Sharon Wakefield of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Toni Cole of Tallmadge, Ohio; two sons, Glen, of San Gabriel, Calif., and James, of Cuyahoga Falls; a sister, Ina Clark of Brownstown, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Helen E. Hargett, 79, of Bradenton, died Dec. 8, 2001, at home.

Born in Homer, La., Mrs. Hargett came to Manatee County from Venice two years ago. She was a bookkeeper. She attended New Hope Christian Church in Nokomis.
Survivors include two daughters, Anne Worthington of Venice, and Edith Traywick of Hammond, Ind.; a son, Benjamin Lloyd Allen of Denver; and two sisters, Hazel Rusk of West Monroe, La., and Faye Brock of Tylertown, Miss.

Myrtle May Herron, 92, of Palmetto, died Dec. 8, 2001, in Blake Medical Center in Bradenton.
Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. today at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, Ind., with the Rev. Dennis Aud officiating. Myers Funeral Service, Hathaway-Myers Chapel, Columbus, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 927 Fourth St., Columbus, Ind. 47201.
Mrs. Herron was born in Bartholomew County, Ind. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sun Coast Christian Church in Palmetto.
Survivors include two sons, Bill, of Columbus, and Jack, of Bradenton; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Born in Elizabeth City, N.C., Miss McMullan came to Manatee County from Sarasota in 1991. She attended Christ Episcopal Church in Bradenton.
Survivors include two nephews, Michael and Henry; a sister-in-law, Kathryn; and an uncle, David Stick of Kitty Hawk, N.C.

Born in Greenville, S.C., Mrs. Nabors came to Manatee County from Indianapolis in 1975. She was Baptist.

Dorothy M. Ranney, 77, of Bradenton, died Dec. 9, 2001, in Blake Medical Center in Bradenton.
There will be no local service. Burial will be in the Garden of Memory in Muncie, Ind. Griffith-Cline Funeral Homes, Manasota Chapel, Bradenton, is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Chicago, Mrs. Ranney came to Manatee County from Muncie in 1971. She was a homemaker and a beautician. She attended Bethel Baptist Church in Bradenton. She served as a corporal and a surgical nurse in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II. She was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Order of Eagles, the White Shrine, and the Social Order of Beaucants of Muncie, a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star in Eaton, Ind., and a den mother of Pack 56 of Muncie.
Survivors include three sons, Richard, of Maine; Don, of Hemet, Calif., and Brad, of Bradenton; two brothers, Jim Penkal of Metamora, Ill., and Bob Penkal of LaJoya, Texas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Elsie M. Schafer, 79, of Madison, Ind., and winter resident of Bradenton, died Dec. 9, 2001, in Bradenton.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7 p.m., Wednesday at Lytle-Gans Funeral Home, 423 W. Main St., Madison. Service will be noon Thursday at Saint Patrick's Chapel, 305 W. State St., Madison, with the Rev. John Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Saint Patrick's Cemetery in Madison. Born in Madison, Mrs. Schafer came to Manatee County from there as a winter resident. She was secretary of the purchasing department at Grote Manufacturing Inc. in Madison. She was Catholic. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Green; three sons, Dick, Bob and Don; a sister, Emma Rinus; two brothers, Robert Dierkes and John Dierkes; 17 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
