Iva Jean Edge, 58, of St. Pauls, N.C., formerly of Bradenton, died Nov. 14, 2001, at home.
Visitation will be 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday at Highland Funeral Service and Crematory, 610 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, N.C. Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Matthews Family Cemetery in Fayetteville, with the Revs. Earl Swinson and James Saxon officiating. Burial will be in Matthews Family Cemetery.
Mrs. Edge was retired from Tropicana Products in Bradenton after 24 years of service.
Survivors include her husband, Larry L. Williams; a son, Mark Anthony Hamilton of Bradenton; a brother, John A. Fish of Fayetteville; two sisters, Cornelia A. Smith of St. Pauls, and Beulah Marie Searcy of Fayetteville; and a grandchild.

Helen Marguerite Richwine Fernald, 90, of Chesnee, S.C., and North Fort Myers, formerly of Bradenton, died Nov. 9, 2001, in Chesnee.
Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Manasota Memorial Park, 1221 53rd Ave. E., in Bradenton, with the Rev. Richard Gantz officiating. Griffith-Cline Funeral Homes, Manasota Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Charles T. "Charlie" Freeman, 56, of Ellenton, died Nov. 12, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Memorial service will be in Rock Hill, S.C. Ellenton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Chattanooga, Tenn., Mr. Freeman came to Manatee County from there in 1982. He was manager of the Bullseye Indoor Pistol Range in Ellenton. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly J.; a stepdaughter, Kathleen Van Horn of Venice; three stepsons, Theodore Tschantre of Bradenton, Brian Tschantre of Charleston, S.C., and Matthew Tschantre of Anchorage, Alaska; his mother, Ruth G., of Rock Hill, S.C.; two sisters, Marsha Brown of Rock Hill, and Martha Whitworth of McConnells, S.C.; two brothers, James, of Panama City, and Sonny, of California; and nine grandchildren.

Born in Utica, N.Y., Mrs. Gleba came to Manatee County from Quincy, N.Y., in 1984. She was a former seamstress. She was a member of the Senior Friendship Center of Sarasota.
Survivors include a son, Joseph V., of Bradenton; two sisters, Helen Shaker of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Janet Younis of Hyde Park, Mass.; and a grandchild.

Born in Bluffton, Ind., Mrs. Hoopingarner came to Manatee County from Zanesville, Ind., in 1952. She was a homemaker. She was Protestant. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda L. Rollyson of Myakka, and Dixie Schmidt of Bradenton; a son, Nolan II, of Clover, S.C.; a sister, Betty Petzel of Mount Dora; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Clyde "Paul" Miller II, 43, of Bradenton, died Nov. 13, 2001, in Bradenton.

Mr. Miller was born in Bradenton. He was a waiter.
Survivors include his father, Gene Sr., of Las Vegas; his mother, Joanne, of Bradenton; two sisters, Susan Brown of Bradenton, and Martha Varner of Memphis, Tenn.; and two brothers, David, of Gainesville, and Gene Jr., of Bradenton.

Roland Paul Palumbo, 79, of Palmetto, died Nov. 13, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Malden, Mass., Mr. Palumbo came to Manatee County from Wakefield, Mass., in 1974. He owned Palumbo Shoe Repair in Melrose, Mass., for 27 years. He attended Palm View First Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2488 in Palmetto.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; a son, Wilfred Pinkhan of Goshen, N.H.; a sister, Jeanette Vananse of Peabody, Mass.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Helen M. Sager, 66, of Tumwater, Wash., formerly of Bradenton, died Nov. 11, 2001, in Tumwater.

Bernice I. Smith, 74, of Palmetto, died Nov. 13, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Trenton, Mich., Mrs. Smith came to Manatee County from there in 1980. She was a retired administrative assistant from the Florida Department of Children and Families. She was Protestant. She was a volunteer for Poke-A-Dots Inc., and a member of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Manatee and North Sarasota.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy A. Hicks of Monroe, Mich.; two sons, James Walter McVicker of Laguna Hills, Calif., and Danny Charles McVicker of Ecorse, Mich.; a brother, Everett Hedke of Gibralter, Mich.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Thomas Edward "Newt" Sumpter, 80, of Port Deposit, Md., and winter resident of Palmetto, died Nov. 11, 2001, in Calvert Manor Healthcare Center in Rising Sun, Md.

Born in Blythedale, Md., Mr. Sumpter was a winter resident of Manatee County. He retired in 1977 as a machinist and a welder from Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Md. He served as a tech sergeant in the U.S. Army 99th Infantry Division from 1943-46. He was a member of Joseph L. Davis Post No. 47 American Legion; and Havre de Grace Elks Lodge No. 1564, both in Havre de Grace, Md.; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7687 in Chesapeake City, Md.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen L. Sumpter Hiser; three stepdaughters, Patricia M. Chance, Katrina Smith and Charlotte E. Gibson; two stepsons, James T. McAteer and Joseph J. Smith; a brother, Joseph Ralph, of Port Deposit; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
