Don E. Long, 47, of Bradenton, died Oct. 28, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
There will be no service. National Cremation Society, Sarasota Chapter, is in charge of cremation arrangements.
Born in Bradenton, Mr. Long was a lifelong resident of Manatee County.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Marie; a son, Don Charles; and a sister, Patricia A. Tomlin of Hartford, Ala.

Clarence W. Matthews, 85, of Palmetto, died Oct. 25, 2001, at home.
There will be no service. Entombment will be held privately in Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton. Griffith-Cline Funeral Homes, Mansion Chapel, in Ellenton, is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Fredericksburg, Ohio, Mr. Matthews came to Manatee County from Hampton, Va., in 1971. He was retired from NASA. He was Protestant.
Survivors include a daughter, Annette of Stockton, Calif.; and a grandchild.

Thomas James McMullan Jr., 80, of Ellenton, died Oct. 28, 2001, in East Hospice House of Palmetto.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a vigil at 7:30 p.m. today at Kicliter Funeral Home, 517 Eighth Ave. W., in Palmetto. Service will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 12001 69th St. E., in Parrish, with the Rev. Janusz Jancarz officiating. Burial will be in Mansion Memorial Park in Palmetto. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238.
Born in West New York, N.J., Mr. McMullan came to Manatee County from North Bergen, N.J., in 1975. He was an archivist for a soap manufacturing company. He was a member of Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; a daughter, Janet C., of River Edge, N.J.; a son, James T., of Ringwood, N.J.; and two grandchildren.
Susan B. Mickey

Susan B. Mickey, 52, of Bradenton, died Oct. 27, 2001, in Integrated Health Services of Sarasota at Beneva.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Vamo United Methodist Church, 8521 Vamo Road, in Sarasota, with the Rev. Brent Byerman officiating. Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home, Sarasota, is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Auburn, Ala., Mrs. Mickey came to Manatee County from Timonium, Md., in 1993. She was an estimator at a custom sign company. She attended Vamo United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth; her mother, Lynn Boone of Sarasota; and a brother, Charles W. Boone of Arlington, Va.
Louis Carl Phillips

Louis Carl Phillips, 86, of Ellenton, died Oct. 24, 2001, at home.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 8305 U.S. 301 N., in Parrish. Inurnment will be 1 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton, Ill. Born in Benton, Mr. Phillips came to Manatee County from Illinois in 1978. He was a laborer in the highway construction industry. He attended Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Hartman and Jeannette Phillips-Kersey, both of Cuba, Mo., Debra Lau of Gladbrook, Iowa, and Jacqueline of Marshalltown, Iowa; three sons, Ronald, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Rannie, of Fort Collins, Colo., and Douglas, of Denver; four stepsons, Donald Gorrell of Genoa, Ill., William Gorrell of Carmel, Ind., Robert Gorrell of Island Lake, Ill., and Thomas Gorrell of Fort Polk, La.; a sister, Eva Richey of Marion, Ill.; 25 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Juanita "Nita" M. Pineas, 51, of Bradenton, died Oct. 24, 2001, in the Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa.
Memorial service was at Bayshore Garden Community Church in Bradenton. The Rev. David Tellinghuisen officiated. National Cremation Society, Sarasota Chapter, is in charge of cremation arrangements.
Born in Spring Cove, Minn., Mrs. Pineas came to Manatee County from Minneapolis in 1982. She was an accountant for L-3 Communications in Sarasota.
Survivors include her husband, Heinz; a daughter, Erica Malvin of Fargo, N.D.; two sons, David H. and Samuel V., both of Bradenton; her mother, Hazel Knies of Preston, Minn.; two sisters, Lynn Benson of Preston, and Diana Poppe of Rushford, Minn.; a brother, Kevin Ostern of Preston; and a grandchild.

David H. Engel, 92, of Bradenton died Oct. 27, 2001, in Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation, Bradenton.

Born in Clarks, Neb., he came to Manatee County in 1991 from Bode, Iowa. He was an insurance salesman, teacher and farmer. He was a member of the World Wide Church of God.
He is survived by his son, John, of Rockport, Mass.
Swafford E. Inman

Swafford E. Inman, 86, of Bradenton died Oct. 27, 2001 at home.
Visitation is planned for 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes, 604 43rd St. W., Bradenton, followed by the service at 2 p.m. with Rev. P. Michael Davis officiating. Burial will be in Ellenton. Born in Decatur, Tenn., he came to Manatee County in 1954 from Tennessee. He worked in construction for 20 years building dams before working for the University of Florida as head of maintenance for 20 years at the Bradenton Research Center before retiring. He was Protestant. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a Mason in Migs County, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife, Glenna; a son, Duane, of Rome, Ga.; and two grandchildren.

Vivian Goodson Meekison, 94, of Pensacola and formerly of Palmetto, died Oct. 25, 2001, at a Pensacola health care facility.
Visitation is planned for 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at Kicliter Funeral Home, 517 Eighth Ave. W., Palmetto. Graveside funeral services are planned 10 a.m. Thursday at Skyway Memorial Gardens.
Born and raised in Palmetto, Mrs. Meekison lived in Pensacola for the past 41 years and was a member of the East Brent Baptist Church. Early in her residence in Pensacola, she was an employee of Sacred Heart Hospital. Later she joined the Escambia County Health Department and was active in establishing a dental service program for the needy.
Survivors include a daughter, Vivian Irene; a son, Malcolm; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Sara E. Weaver

Sara E. Weaver, 90, of Bradenton died Oct. 25, 2001, in Greenbriar Nursing Center.
Cremation arrangements are by the Sarasota Chapter of the National Cremation Society.
Born in Peoria, Ill., she came to Manatee County in 1997 from St. Petersburg. She was a registered nurse and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Evans of Bradenton; and a brother, James, of San Francisco.
