Born in Chicago, Mr. Schaffner came to Manatee County from Oak Park, Ill., in 1973. He was the owner of American Laundry and Dry Cleaners in Chicago, and a real estate broker and owner of Schaffner Realtors Inc. in Bradenton. He was a founding member of El Conquistador Country Club in Bradenton.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; a daughter, Betty Korey of Deerfield, Ill.; a son, Barry, of Riverside, Ill.; a sister, Madelyne Kanter of Oak Park; a brother, Burton, of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.
John Fuller Smith

John Fuller Smith, 87, of Bradenton, died Oct. 20, 2001, at home.

Born in Dublin, Ga., Mr. Smith came to Manatee County from Ellijay, Ga., in 1997. He was a general supervisor in the parts department at General Motors. He attended Saint Luke's Episcopal Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a former member of the Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; a daughter, Elizabeth Aversa of Knoxville, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Suzanne Daniels of Irmo, S.C., and Carol Page of Davie; a stepson, Greg Kaminski of Bethesda, Md.; and nine grandchildren.
Shirley Ann Sparks

Shirley Ann Sparks, 59, of Bradenton, died Oct. 24, 2001, at home.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, Ms. Sparks came to Manatee County from Brookville, Ohio, in 1984. She was an assembly worker. She was Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Dunham of Lewisburg, Ohio, and Tracy Mattingly of Bradenton; a son, Timothy, of St. Petersburg; her mother, Phyllis George of Bradenton; two sisters, Kathy Wilson and Tina Cromwell, both of Bradenton; three brothers, Walter George, Butch George and Mike George, all of Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
Janet Kay Wells

Janet Kay Wells, 41, of Sarasota (Manatee County), died Oct. 24, 2001, in Hospice House of Sarasota.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church, 833 Magellan Drive, Sarasota, with the Rev. Carl Birarelli officiating. Born in Marquette, Mich., Ms. Wells came to Manatee County from there in 1984. She was a certified public accountant and a partner with Christopher, Smith, Leonard, Bristow, Stanell and Wells CPAs. She attended Saint Martha's Catholic Church in Sarasota. She was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and held the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Certificate of Educational Achievement-Business Valuation. She was a former tax manager for Ernst and Young LLP in St. Petersburg. She was the chapter founder, 2001 board member and leadership chairman of the Executive Women's Golf Association, a member of the executive board of directors and treasurer of the Women's Resource Center of Manatee Inc., a member of the board of directors of the American Cancer Society, Manatee County Unit, and the New College Library Association, and a member of the Sarasota Manatee International Trade Club, Leadership Manatee Alumni Association Inc., and the Sarasota Reading Festival.
Survivors include her companion, Joseph J. Salvaggio of Sarasota; her mother and stepfather, Margaret A. and Perry E. Jeanson; and a brother, William G. Peterson of Michigan.
Eddie M. Brown
Indianapolis
Eddie M. Brown, 80, of Indianapolis, formerly of Bradenton, died Oct. 23, 2001, at home.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center at Washington Park East Mortuary, 10722 E. Washington St., in Indianapolis. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral center. Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis. Mr. Brown was a former resident of Manatee County. He was a machine operator and retired in 1985 from the the former Richardson Rubber Co., now known as Witco, in Indianapolis, after 38 years of service. He was a member of Community of Christ Church in Indianapolis. He served in the U.S. 3rd Army under General George Patton during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Laura B.; two sisters, Tribbie Haggard of Dalton, Ga., and Johnnie Tyler of Ripley, Miss.; and two brothers, James H., of Taylor, Mich., and Carson of Indianapolis.

Thomas Richard Burke Sr., 72, of Bradenton, died Oct. 20, 2001, in Blake Medical Center.

Born in Toronto, Mr. Burke came to Manatee County from Minneapolis in 1987. He was the retired manager of an ink company. He was Catholic. He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 2188 in Bradenton.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Cathyann LaPlante of Union, N.J.; a son, Tom Jr., of Bettendorf, Iowa; a brother, Dennis, of Victoria, British Columbia; and six grandchildren.

Floyd J. Crawford, 56, of Bradenton, died Oct. 23, 2001, in Hospice House in Ellenton.

Born in Bradenton, Mr. Crawford was a lifelong resident of Manatee County. He was a custodian at Bashaw Elementary School in Bradenton. He was Baptist.

William Jack Fesenmeyer, 58, of Kansas City, Kan., and Bradenton, died Oct. 13, 2001, in a hospital in Foley, Ala.
Visitation will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the home of Mr. Fesenmeyer in Bradenton. Mack Funeral Home and Crematory in Robertsdale, Ala., is in charge of cremation arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Judith A.; and three brothers, Gary, of Excelsior Springs, Kan., Tom, of Corona, Calif., and Ben, of O' Fallon, Mo.

Ida Lucille Dreyer Lee, 87, of Palmetto, died Oct. 20, 2001, in Integrated Health Services at the River in Bradenton.
Service will be in Ohio. Burial will be in Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, Ohio. Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home in Sarasota is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Flushing, Ohio, Mrs. Lee came to Manatee County from Cadiz, Ohio, in the winter for 20 years and permanently for 10 years. She was a nurse. She was Methodist.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Reppart of Palmetto; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

H. Theresa Pasko, 58, of Palmetto, died Oct. 22, 2001, in Integrated Health Services at Braden River in Bradenton.

Born in Paterson, N.J., Mrs. Pasko came to Manatee County from New Jersey in 1998. She was a licensed practical nurse at Westminster Asbury Towers in Bradenton and also worked at Alpha Tile and Stone in Sarasota. She attended Church On The Rock. She was a volunteer at the Pregnancy Care Center.
Survivors include two sons, Carl III of Bradenton, and James of Parrish; her mother, Helen Avolio of Norwich, N.Y.; a sister, Joan Sorgi of Pompton Lakes, N.J.; a brother, James Avolio of South New Berlin, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.
