Samuel Theodore "Ted" Sawyer Jr., 92, of St. Petersburg, formerly of Bradenton, died Oct. 12, 2001, in Sunrise at Northshore in St. Petersburg.
A luncheon hosted by the Sara DeSoto Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pioneer Whitaker Cemetery, 1232 12th St., in Sarasota. Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. at the Cemetery, officiated by Mrs. Evelyn Kuttler. A reception hosted by the Disabled American Veterans will follow the service. Burial will be in Pioneer Whitaker Cemetery. Shannon Funeral Home, Town Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Born in Omaha, Neb., Mr. Sawyer came to Manatee County from there in 1910. He was a real estate appraiser, a tax auditor for the city of Fort Lauderdale, and a municipal fiscal consultant. He was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg.
Survivors include three nieces, Sondra Bufis of Fayetteville, N.Y., Sue Shea of Meridian, Conn., and Christina Edelwich of Manchester, Conn.; two nephews, Thomas of Akron, Ohio, and Theodore P., of Jupiter; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Edgar Blair Jr., 86, of Bradenton, died Oct. 11, 2001, in Freedom Village Nursing Center in Bradenton.
Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Christ Episcopal Church, 4030 Manatee Ave. W., with the Rev. Dennis Kezar officiating. Burial will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Prospectville, Pa. Bradenton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Blair came to Manatee County from Hatboro, Pa., in 1981. He was the manager of a title insurance office in Hatboro. He attended Christ Episcopal Church. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Saint Andrew; and a volunteer at Blake Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Martha E.; and a sister, Mary Virginia Craig of Brant Beach, N.J.

Born in Pittsburgh, Mrs. Cummerfield came to Manatee County from Tulsa, Okla., in 1992. She was an accountant in a family business. She was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance.
Survivors include a daughter, Claire Browne-Del Mar; two sisters, Elizabeth Young of Arlington, Texas, and Ruth VanHorn of Carlisle, Pa.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Barry M. Collins, 64, of Crestline, Calif., formerly of Bradenton, died Oct. 8, 2001, in the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, Calif.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Cortner Chapel, 221 Brookside Ave., in Redlands, Calif. Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Saint Frances X Cabrini Church, 23079 Crest Forest Drive, in Crestline, with the Rev. Amaro Saumell officiating. Born in Glendale, Calif., Mr. Collins was a resident of Manatee County from 1994-99. He was a senior buyer for IBM for 18 years. He interned as a seminarian at Sacred Heart Church in Redlands and he was a member of Saint Frances X Cabrini Church, where he served on the finance committee. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-58.
Survivors include a son, Keith, of Lancaster, Calif.; and a grandchild.
