Irene Frey Duthie Shepard, 95, died January 27, 2004, at the Baptist Home, Rhinebeck, N.Y.
Irene worked in the public libraries of Bradenton, New York City and Winnetka, Ill. Born December 2, 1908, in Sioux City, Iowa, Irene was raised by her parents, Alfred and Isabelle Howes Frey in Peoria, Ill. Irene graduated from Peoria High School and Mount Holyoke College. She married Norman Fairbairn Duthie of Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1931, in Nutley, N.J. The moved to Winnetka, Ill., where they raised their children, retiring in 1965 to Bradenton. Mr. Duthie died in 1969. Irene married Cecil Shepard in 1976 in Holmes Beach. Mr. Shepard died in 1983. Irene's favorite times were spent with her children and grandchildren, walking and swimming on Anna Maria Island. Her family will remember her love of reading. She was always seen with a book on her lap.
Survivors include her daughter, Norene Duthie Coller and husband, Dick, of Staatsburg, N.Y.; her son, Angus Macdonald Duthie and wife, Pam, of Northbrook, Ill.; grandchildren, Derek Duthie Fetler of Seattle, Bayard Keith Fetler of San Francisco, Karen Deborah Fetler of Great Neck, N.Y., Ann James Duthie and Lauren Duthie Martinelli and husband, Mark, of Northbrook, Ill., and Todd Alexander Duthie and wife, Michelle of Seattle.

Caroline Marie Stuart, Kankakee, Ill.
Caroline Marie Stuart, 73, died Monday, January 26, 2004, at the Miller Center in Kankakee, Ill.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 30, at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 31. Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
Mrs. Stuart worked at State Farm Insurance, Kankakee County Superintendent of Schools, Kankakee County Extension Service and taught for nine years at Bradley Bourbonnais High School. She was born May 8, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., to Mary Ella and Edwin Carl Sir. She grew up in Essex, Ill., and is a 1947 graduate of Reddick High School. She also attended Olivet Nazarene College, where she met her future husband of 54 years, Keith Burkett Stuart, deceased, of Kankakee, Ill.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Elma Stuart of Kensington, Md., James and Alice Stuart of Dallas, Texas, John and Kathy Stuart of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Morris of Bradenton and an uncle, William H. Sir, 96, of Eustis.
She was a member of the Elks, First Baptist Church of Kankakee, Beta Sigma Phi sorority and the Essex Historical Society. During her retirement, she spent summers on Big Turtle Lake, Minn., and winters in Palmetto. She enjoyed fishing, playing bridge, traveling and lots of friends.

Henrietta Bultman, 94, of Bradenton, passed away on Saturday.
All services will be held under the direction of the Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home, 113 Maple Street, Birnamwood, Wis. Interment will take place at the Forestville Cemetery in Easton, Wis. Local arrangements entrusted to Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, Bradenton.

John Ellens, Ruskin
John Ellens, 76, of Ruskin, passed away January 25, 2004 at Hospice House of Sun City Center.
Born in Marion, Mich., he moved to Ruskin in 1971 from Bradenton Beach, Fla. He was self-employed and a veteran of the Navy. He was a member of the Ruskin VFW and the American Legion of Palmetto.
Mr. Ellens is survived by his wife, Audrey of Ruskin; son, Michael, daughter, Marcia and husband Don Cass, all of Bradenton; brothers, Gerald and wife Marge, Sidney and wife Agnes, Chuck and wife Nan, and Gordon and wife Judy, all of Mich.; grandchildren, Christine, David, Diane, and Daniel Cass.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 between 10-11 a.m. at Lewers Funeral Home with funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele Street, Tampa, Fla. 33609.
