Born in Plymouth, Mich., Mr. Mason came to Manatee County from Troy, Mich., in 1972. He was Baptist. He was a Mason.

William Robert Mercer, infant, of Bradenton, died Sept. 24, 2003, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.

David R. Wardencki, 19, of Bradenton, died Sept. 28, 2003, at home.

Born in England, David came to Manatee County from Tampa in 1998.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Andrew and Debbie, of Fort Walton Beach; his mother and stepfather, Tammy and John Schindler of Bradenton; a brother, Andrew "Andy," of Fort Walton Beach; a stepsister, Penny Schindler of Asheville, N.C.; a stepbrother, Jason Schindler of Asheville; his paternal grandmother, Irene, of Fort Walton Beach; and his maternal grandparents, David and Judy Turner of Tampa.
Betty Jean Adkins, Anna Maria
Betty Jean Adkins, 73, of Anna Maria, died Sept. 23, 2003, in Town and Country Hospital in Tampa.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Roser Memorial Community Church, 512 Pine Ave., Anna Maria. National Cremation Society, Sarasota Chapter, is in charge of cremation arrangements. Born in Gary, W.Va., Mrs. Adkins came to Manatee County from West Virginia in 1962. She was a retired manager. She attended Roser Memorial Community Church.
Survivors include her husband, Fred; two sisters, Caroline Trouteman and Barbara Johnson, both of Huntsville, Ala.; and two brothers, Joe Grano of Tampa and Frank Grano of San Diego.
Allen Shaffer Dorsey, Bradenton
Allen Shaffer Dorsey, 79, of Bradenton, died Sept. 28, 2003, in Blake Medical Center.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown and Sons Funeral Home, 604 43rd St. W. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Howard Carter officiating. Born in Newark, Ohio, Mr. Dorsey came to Manatee County from Radcliffe, Ky., in 1987. He attended Palma Sola Bay Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; three sons, Mark, of Harrodsburg, Ky., Michael, of Fort Collins, Colo., and Lt. Col. John Dorsey of Shreveport, La.; and five grandchildren.

Born in Silver Creek, N.Y., Mr. Gunther came to Manatee County from there 20 years ago. He owned and operated an appliance repair business. He was Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda; a daughter, Kimberly, of Cassadega, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Sheila Wood of Attalla, Ala.; a son, Richard Lee III, of Silver Creek; his father, Richard Sr., of Palmetto; his mother, Shirley Bell of Fort Dix, N.J.; a brother, Roger, of Palmetto; four grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

Myrtle M. Harvey, 90, of Bradenton, died Sept. 28, 2003, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Timothy Warren McKnight Sr., 60, of Bradenton, died Sept. 27, 2003, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Charles Kevin McKnight officiating. Born in Liberty Center, Ohio, Mr. McKnight came to Manatee County from there in 1964. He was a self-employed general contractor. He was a member of Bradenton Church of God, where he served as a deacon, choir director and a member of the praise and worship team. He was a member of the Homebuilders Association.
Survivors include his wife, Phaylene; three sons, Timothy W. Jr., of Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany, Alan S., of Naval Recruiting Station in Statesboro, Ga., and Brian K., of Sarasota; a sister, Eleanor E. Dennis of Archibald, Ohio; two brothers, Thomas G., of Jacksonville, and Charles F., of Palmetto; and four grandchildren.

Born in Yaucilo, Puerto Rico, Mr. Rubio came to Manatee County from Pensacola a year ago. He was a hat maker. He was Catholic.
Survivors include two daughters, Luisa, of Puerto Rico, and Selenia, of the Dominican Republic; three sons, Dr. Juan Rubio of Parrish, Euripides, of Maryland, and Zaham, of Puerto Rico; three sisters, all of Puerto Rico; a brother, of Puerto Rico; and 12 grandchildren.
