Paul G. Gompf, 96, of Bradenton, died Feb. 3, 2003, in Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation.
Visitation and service will be Thursday at Hockemeyer-Miller Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, Ind. Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Manasota Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Born in Logan, Ohio, Mr. Gompf was a resident of Manatee County. He retired in 1967 as the owner of Gompf Hardware and Furniture Co., Woodburn, Ind. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Imler of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
James T. Grant Jr., Anna Maria
James T. Grant Jr., 75, of Anna Maria, died Feb. 4, 2003, at home.

Born in South Carolina, Mr. Grant came to Manatee County from Winter Haven in 1989. He retired as an elementary school principal. He was a member of the Jaycees Sertoma Club and the Florida Association of School Administration. He was a member of Roser Memorial Community Church. He served in the Seabees during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; a daughter, Kandise Kerekes of Clearwater; a son, James T. III, of Bonita Beach; a sister, Sarah Scott, of Marion, S.C.; and three grandchildren.
Cecil Vonell Green, Sarasota, (Manatee County)
Cecil Vonell Green, 78, of Sarasota (Manatee County), died Feb. 4, 2003, in Bradenton.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Friday at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, 912 53rd Ave. W., Bradenton. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with John Gerhardt officiating. Burial will be in Braden River Cemetery, Bradenton. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Born in Camilla, Ga., Mr. Green lived most of his life in Manatee County. He was the owner of C.V. Green Well Drilling Co. He was a Baptist. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne J.; a daughter, Sharon Durand of Bradenton; a son, Terrell, of Bradenton; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mattie Lee Green, Palmetto
Mattie Lee Green, 65, of Palmetto, died Feb. 4, 2003, at home.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Westside Funeral Home, 704 11th St. W., Palmetto. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Christian Fellowship Gospel Temple, 1506 2nd Ave. W., Palmetto, with the Rev. Bea Lovely officiating. Burial will be in Adams Fogartyville Cemetery, Bradenton.
Born in Branchville, S.C. Mrs. Green came to Manatee County from there in 2000. She retired as a school bus driver for Sarasota County. She was of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Fairy Bell Tyson of Palmetto; two sons, Washington Jr., and Lemuel David, both of South Carolina; a sister, Letha Mae Williams of Palmetto; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Jerry R. Hill, 58, of Bradenton, died Feb. 3, 2003, at home.

Born in Louisville, Ky., Mr. Hill came to Manatee County from there in 1986. He retired as a police officer from the Louisville Police Force. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Fairdale Baptist Church of Louisville. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie J.; a daughter, Marcie J., of Goldsboro, N.C.; two sons, Ronald A., of LaGrange, Ky., and Gregory L., of Nashville; his mother, Garnet L. Dunn of Louisville; a brother, Charles D., of LaGrange; and a grandchild.

William E. McGrath Sr., 81, of Parrish, died Feb. 4, 2003, at home.

Born in Cleveland, Mr. McGrath came to Manatee County from Concord Township, Ohio, in 1988. He was a police officer with Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and a government security officer. He was a member of Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Parrish. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2926 of Cleveland, the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans Post 42 of Painesvilles, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Adelle M.; two daughters, Mary Kay Moss of Euclid, Ohio, and Stacey M. Jones of Mentor, Ohio; three sons, William E. Jr., of Parrish, and Edward E. and Patrick J., both of Mentor; a sister, Kathleen Wiltrack of Parrish; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Ann Jacinta Reidy, 50, of Bradenton, died Feb. 4, 2003, at home.

Born in Waterford, Ireland, Mrs. Reidy came to Manatee County from Carlow, Ireland, in 1992. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail sorter.
Survivors include her husband, Timothy Patrick; two daughters, Blaire and Leah, both of Bradenton; her parents, Thomas and Mary
McKenna of Ireland; three sisters, Helen McKenna of Ireland, and Claire Keenan and Caroline Hooper, both of Bradenton; and a brother, Paul McKenna of England.

Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Burkett came to Manatee County from there. She was a clerk.

Shirley Grace Dawson, 76, of Sarasota, and formerly of Bradenton, died Feb. 3, 2003, at home.

Born in Highland Park, Mich., Mrs. Dawson came to Manatee County from Detroit in 1964. She retired as a manager of the cosmetic department at Maas Brothers Department Store, DeSoto Square mall, after 22 years. She was a member of Countryside Community Church in Myakka City.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin H. Sr.; a daughter, Karen Lynn Huddleston of Sarasota; a son, Alvin H. Jr., of Iowa City, Iowa; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Born in Buffalo, Mr. Edwards came to Manatee County from Philadelphia in 1990. He was a founder of Pilot Air Freight Corp. in Lima, Pa. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1962.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary E. Fisher of Wilmington, Del.; four sisters, Ann Klenk, Peggy Reidy and Patty Gerviss, all of Buffalo, and Kathy George of Rochester, N.Y.; a brother, William F., of Burlington, N.J.; and two grandchildren.
James H. Foskey, Scott, Ga.
James H. Foskey, of Scott, Ga., and formerly of Bradenton, died Jan. 25, 2003, in a Dublin nursing home.
Service was at an earlier date. Stanley Funeral Home of Wrightsville, Ga., is in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Mount Olive Church of the Nazarene Cemetery.
Born in Johnson County, Ga., Mr. Foskey came to Manatee County from there in the late 1940s. He worked at Tropicana. He was a member of Mount Olive Church of the Nazarene. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include two brothers; Thomas S., of Bradenton, and Lamar McNeil of Scott, Ga.
