Born in Patterson, N.J., Mrs. Watters came to Manatee County from Wyckoff, N.J., in 1989. She was a homemaker. She was Catholic.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Ann Fritz of Cannon Beach, Ore., and Kim Ann Trost of Bradenton; three sons, Raymond Francis Jr., of Venice, Keith Charles, of Clover, S.C., and Larry Joseph Trost of Bradenton; and six grandchildren.
Eva Henn Wilson, Muncie, Ind.
Eva Henn Wilson, 99, of Muncie, Ind., and formerly of Bradenton, died Jan 1, 2003, in the Waters Nursing Home of Muncie.
Services were held at an earlier date. Burial is in South Mound Cemetery in New Castle, Ind. Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, Middletown, Ind., was in charge of arrangements.
Born in Indianapolis, Mrs. Wilson formerly lived in Manatee County for many years. She worked at Myers Furniture and Appliances in New Castle. She was a member of the Sulphur Springs United Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice Sherwood of Palmetto, and Betty Foister of Muncie; three stepdaughters, Lois Shockley and Kathryn Cashdoller, both of New Castle, and Marjorie Mason of Anderson, Ind.,; two stepsons, Lyle, of Sulphur Springs, Ind., and Wilfred, of Dallas; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; many stepgrandchildren; many stepgreat-grandchildren; many and stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

C. Russell Benson, 74, of Bradenton, died Jan. 6, 2003, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Providence, R.I., Mr. Benson came to Manatee County from Warwick, R.I., in 1986. He was a retired superintendent with the wastewater plant. He was a citizens band and ham operator.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Cynthia Ball and Paula Mowbray, both of Warwick; a sister, Marilynn B. Ruth of Warwick; and five grandchildren.

Roswell S. Minott, 89, of Bradenton, died Jan. 3, 2003, at home.

Born in Greenfield, Mass., Mr. Minott came to Manatee County from Rockford, Ill., in 1996. He was a retired musician and printer. He was Episcopal. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include a daughter, Irene Coutu of Bradenton; three sons, Frank, of Tucson, Ariz., and Jason and Matthew, both of Bradenton; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Norman W. Smith, Bradenton
Norman W. "Red" Smith, 76, of Bradenton, died Jan. 6, 2003, in Blake Medical Center.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 1400 36th Ave. E., Ellenton. Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Harry Johnson officiating. Immediately following the service, graveside military honors will be conducted by Kirby Stewart Post 24 at Manasota Memorial Park, 1221 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton.
Born in Old Town, Maine, Mr. Smith came to Manatee County from Clinton, Conn., in 1992. He owned and operated the Norman W. Smith Construction Co. in Milford, Conn., for 20 years. He served on the USS Quincy in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in New Haven, Conn.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Felten of Bradenton, Norma Lee Morelli of Ellenton, and Daisy Ring of Milford; a sister, Madeline Obar of Prospect, Conn.; two brothers, Edwin and Roger, both of Maine; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Charles J. Stokes, Holmes Beach
Charles J. "Bud" Stokes, 72, of Holmes Beach, died Dec. 9, 2002, at home.
There will be no visitation. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Roser Memorial Community Church, 512 Pine Ave., Anna Maria, with the Rev. Jim Meena and the Rev. Gary A. Batey officiating. Born in Flint, Mich., Mr. Stokes came to Manatee County from Burton, Mich. He was the owner of Mid-State Plating Co. of Flint. He was a member of Roser Memorial Community Church of Anna Maria. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Flint C.A. Durand Masonic Lodge 23 in Flint, the Flint Golf Club, the Key Royale Golf Club in Holmes Beach and the Bradenton Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; a daughter, Diane Burchett of Clio, Mich.; two sons, David and Timothy, of Burton; a brother, W. Edward, of Grand Blanc; and five grandchildren.

Born in Sweetwater, Tenn., Mr. Thompson came to to Manatee County from Rochester, N.Y., in 1996. He retired as a product manager with Xerox Corp. after 25 years of service. He was Protestant. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy G.; a son, Bryce E., of Bradenton; a sister, Charlotte Brenner of Sarasota; and a grandson.

William "Ken" Bruce, 90, of Bradenton, died Jan. 4, 2003, at Westminster Asbury Manor.

Born in Lawrence County, Ohio, Mr. Bruce came to Manatee County from Marion, Ohio, in 1977. He was a retired vocational teacher with Marion Correctional Institute. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bradenton, a 60-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 70, F & AM, a member of No. 22 Marion Council, No. 62 Marion Chapter R.A.M., No. 36 Commandery all of Marion, Ohio, Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus in Columbus, Ohio; and No. 87 Bradenton Order of Eastern Star and Queen Christina Chapter No. 26, both of Bradenton.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn; a son, Dr. William K. Bruce of Huntsville, Ohio; a sister, Ruth Lewis of State College, Pa.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Ellen Marshall, 94, of Anna Maria, died Jan. 3, 2003, at home.

Born in Long Island, N.Y., Mrs. Marshall came to Manatee County from there in 1947. She was co-owner of Jack Marshall Real Estate in Anna Maria from 1955 to 1981. She was a member of Roser Memorial Community Church. She started Anna Maria's first licensed newspaper, the Anna Maria Key News, in 1950. She was active in the Guardian Ad Litem Program. She was named Anna Maria's citizen of the year in 1990. She served as vice chairwoman and the chairwoman of the Roser Memorial Community Church congregation between 1989 and 1992. She received the Heartland Award, naming her "One of Florida's Finest," from former Gov. Lawton Chiles in 1996.
Survivors include seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Charles E. "Swede" Olsen, 75, of Bradenton, died Jan. 4, 2003, at Blake Medical Center.

Born in Springfield Gardens, N.Y., Mr. Olsen came to Manatee County from Long Island, N.Y., in 1955. He was a long-distance truck driver, served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, Kirby Stewart Post No. 24.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; a daughter, Elizabeth G. Turner of West Islip, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Linda S. Davis of Bradenton, and Tammy C. Cotton of Clewiston; two sons, John K., of West Islip, and Toby E., of Mastic, N.Y.; two sisters, Grace Grawunder of West Islip, and Marian Williams of East Liverpool, Ohio; two brothers, Donald Cavna, of Connecticut, and George R., of, Glen Falls, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
