Hazel Virginia Jarvis, 85, of Bradenton, died Dec. 16, 2002, in Heritage Park.

Born in Parkersburg, W.Va., Mrs. Jarvis came to Manatee County from Tampa in 1990. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Nazarene Church of Tampa.
Survivors include two daughters, Carey A. DeMonia of Bradenton, and Brenda M. Flynn of Silver Springs; a brother, Charles Hutzler of Parkersburg; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Theodore Francis Magee, Ellenton
Theodore Francis Magee, 88, of Ellenton, died Dec. 14, 2002, at home.
There will be no services. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. in the spring. The Good Earth Crematory, Bradenton, is in charge of cremation arrangements. Born in East Orange, N.J., Mr. Magee came to Manatee County from Washington, D.C., in 1970. He retired as an Army Colonel. He was Protestant. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Lambert, of Reston, Va.; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Vanderhoof of Bradenton; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Franklin T. Neely, Palmetto
Franklin "Frank" T. Neely, 76, of Palmetto, died Dec. 15, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Neely came to Manatee County from Marlton, N.J. He was the owner of Esso and Sinclair service stations in Cherry Hill, N.J., and owner and operator of Downtown Auto Painting Inc. in Bradenton. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; a daughter, Patricia Venner of Lumberton, N.C.; a sister, Joan Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Edward, of Sarasota and Jerry, of Kearny, N.J.; and two grandchildren.
Tommie Pratt-Peer, Bradenton
Tommie Pratt-Peer, 87, of Bradenton, died Dec. 15, 2002, at home.
Memorial service will be at a later date. Private inurnment will be in Skyway Memorial Gardens in Palmetto. Shannon Funeral Home, Town Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Appling County, Ga., Mrs. Pratt-Peer came to Manatee County from Boston Heights, Ohio, in 1969. She was a homemaker. She attended First Presbyterian Church of Bradenton. She was a member of the Daughters of America in Ohio.
Survivors include three daughters, Gail Landis of Lake Panasoffkee, Jarrell Mayer of San Dimas, Calif., and Jeannette Ocepek of Bartow; three stepdaughters, Carol Clark of Sarasota, Linda Latsko of Sterling Heights, Mich., and Mary, of Gainesville; a stepson, John, of Crown Point, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Doris R. Smith, 102, of Bradenton, died Dec. 15, 2002, in Hospice House of Bradenton.

Born in Cheboygan, Mich., Mrs. Smith came to Manatee County from Traverse City, Mich., in 1964. She retired as a bookkeeper for Traverse City school district. She was the oldest member of the Paradise Bay Estates Schuffleboard and Card Clubs. She attended the Cortez Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Eugene Case of Kentwood, Mich.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Vera P. Stokich, Ellenton
Vera P. Stokich, 74, of Ellenton, died Dec. 16, 2002, at her daughter's home in Palmetto.

Born in Baltimore, Mrs. Stokich came to Manatee County from there in 1983. She retired as a claims representative for the Social Security Administration in Sarasota.
Survivors include a daughter, Andrea Booth of Palmetto; a sister, Lucille Brown of Ellenton; and two grandchildren.

Woodrow "Woody" Swain, 84, of Bradenton, died Dec. 13, 2002, in Hospice House of Bradenton.
There will be no services. National Cremation Society, Sarasota Chapter, is in charge of cremation arrangements.
Mr. Swain was a lifelong resident of Bradenton. He retired from GTE Phone Co. He served in the U.S. Navy SeaBees during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his companion, Betty Norris; two daughters, Pauline Laney of New Port Richey, and Kay Peachey of Germany; a son, Thomas, of Atlanta; two sisters, Roberta Rittenhouse of Hilliard, and Dorothea Bruno of Bradenton; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Felix Joseph Voit, Palmetto
Felix Joseph Voit, 79, of Palmetto, died Dec. 16, 2002, in Kindred Hospital in St. Petersburg.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Friday at Kicliter Funeral Home, 517 8th Ave. W., Palmetto. Service will follow at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
Born in Lincoln Park, N.J., Mr. Voit came to Manatee County from North Miami in 1988. He retired as head custodian of Dade County school system after 20 years of service. He was Lutheran. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the U.S. Navy Armed Guard, American Legion No. 400, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2488 of Palmetto.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Sharon R. Shine of Miami; a son, Karl Lee, of Navarre, Kan.; three sisters, Elsa Sirmans and Rosie Post, both of Palmetto, and Emmy Gregoris, of Hawthorne, N.J.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Walter Paul Wainuskis, North Port
Walter Paul Wainuskis, 79, of North Port, and formerly of Bradenton, died Dec. 16, 2002, in Charlotte Regional Medical Center.
A private memorial service will be at the Wainuskis home Sunday in North Port. The Good Earth Crematory is in charge of cremation arrangements.
Born in Blairsville, Pa., Mr. Wainuskis came to Manatee County in 2000. He retired as an automobile mechanic. He was Catholic. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Stewart and Kari Kizman, both of North Port, and Linda Osterburg of Englewood; three sons, Lee Paul, of North Port, Walter P. Jr., and Steven, both of Sarasota; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Born in Cambridge, Mass., Mr. Backhoff came to Manatee County from Barre, Mass., in 1997. He was a retired truck driver. He was Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Marie; a daughter, Cheryl Komosa of Sarasota; three sons, James, of Maynard, Mass., Richard, of Bradenton, and Charles, of North Port; and five grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Joe; a daughter, Cynthia Lempke of Lawrence, Kan.; a son, Ron, of Strongsville, Ohio; four sisters, Margaret Severn of London, Ontario, Phyllis Carruthers of Missisauga, Ontario, Ruth Duren of Exter, Canada and Joyce Mark of Perry Sound, Canada; and two grandchildren.
