Albert M. Phillips, 87, of Palmetto, died Dec. 9, 2002, in Mariner Health of Palmetto.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 1400 36th Ave. E., Ellenton. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Terry Davis officiating. Burial will be in Palmetto Cemetery.
Born in Parrish, Mr. Phillips was a lifelong resident of Manatee County. He retired from the agricultural industry. He attended Palmetto Church of God.
Survivors include four sisters, Ollie Stone of Palmetto, Iris Luke of Ellenton, Juanita Underwood of Live Oak, and Dorcas Ward of Savannah, Ga.; and two brothers, Wiley Paul, of Ellenton, and George A., of Parrish.

Elna Mae Sandbrook, Bradenton
Elna Mae Sandbrook, 81, of Bradenton, died Dec. 7, 2002, in Bradenton.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at Helms Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, Mich., with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m. by Co-Chapter No. 98, Order of Eastern Star of Shepherd, Mich. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Winn, Mich. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 600 U.S. 301 Blvd. W., Suite 136, Bradenton, Fla. 34205.
Born in Isabella County, Mich., Mrs. Sandbrook came to Manatee County from Mt. Pleasant, Mich., in 1990. She retired as a hairdresser. She was United Methodist. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Farrell of Bryan, Ohio, and Dixie, of Lansing, Mich.; a son, Larry, of Shepherd; two sisters, Dorothy Howes of Edmore, Mich., and Ardith Moore of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Harry B. Saxton Jr., Bradenton
Harry B. Saxton Jr., 83, of Bradenton, died Dec. 8, 2002, in Blake Medical Center.
Memorial services will be at a later date. National Cremation Society, Sarasota Chapter, is in charge of cremation arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 3200 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton, Fla. 34205.
Born in Eaton, Colo., Mr. Saxton came to Manatee County from Estero in 1987. He retired as a chemical engineer with Dupont after 36 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothea; a daughter, Sharon Dugdale of Davis, Calif.; and a son, Richard V., of Palo Alto, Calif.

Catherine, Brandsma Snyder, Tampa
Catherine Brandsma Snyder, 81, of Tampa, and formerly of Bradenton, died Dec. 7, 2002, in Southerland Place, Tampa.
Visitation will be noon-1 p.m. today at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 1221 53rd Ave. E. Service will immediately follow at 1 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. William Bengtson officiating. Burial will be in Skyway Memorial Gardens, Palmetto.
Born in Harrison, S.D., Mrs. Snyder came to Manatee County from Chicago in 1954. She was a homemaker. She attended Bayshore Reform Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Skumautz of Tampa, and Linda Stone of Greenville, S.C.; a son, Michael Brandsma of Massachusetts; two stepsons, John, of Bradenton, and Ken, of Tallahassee; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Margaret Sorensen, Bradenton
Margaret "Peggy" Sorensen, 92, of Bradenton, died Dec. 6, 2002, at home.
There will be no visitation. Private services will be at Palma Sola Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Mount Ever Rest Cemetery in Kalamazoo, Mich. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238. Brown and Sons Funeral Homes, 604 43rd Street W. is in charge of the arrangements.
Born in Uddingston, Scotland, Mrs. Sorensen came to Manatee County from Kalamazoo in the 1980s. She retired as a teacher after 30 years in Elkhart, Ind., and Kalamazoo public schools. She belonged to the Palma Sola Presbyterian Church in Bradenton.
Survivors include a son, John, of Alto, Mich.; two sisters, Anne McAllister and Florence J. Lane, both of Bradenton; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Paul V. Willetts, Bradenton
Paul V. Willetts, 67, of Bradenton, died Dec. 7, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Memorial service will be held at a later date at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Sarasota. Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Manasota Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Inurnment will be in Manasota Memorial Park, Bradenton. Memorial contributions may be made to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 7461 Prospect Road, Sarasota, Fla. 34243.
Born in Grosse Pointe, Mich., Mr. Willetts came to Manatee County from Brandon 30 years ago. He was an accountant before he retired. He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 18 in Bradenton, American Legion Post 312 and Manasota Elks Lodge No. 2734.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma; and a sister, Mildred Pearson of Forest Lake, Minn.

Doris E. Dubois, Bradenton
Doris E. Dubois, 69, of Bradenton, died Dec. 7, 2002, in Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation in Bradenton.
Service will be held in Jackson, Mich., at a later date. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes, 26th Street Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 600 U.S. 301 Blvd. W., Suite 136, Bradenton, Fla. 34205.
Born in Stockbridge, Mich., Mrs. Dubois came to Manatee County from Toledo, Ohio, in 1992. She was Catholic.
Survivors include her husband, Donald "Dewey"; a daughter, Mary Helen Maye of Delphos, Ohio; two sons, Kevin, of Sarasota, and Donald Jr., of Toledo; two sisters, Peggy Hess of Harrietta, Mich., and Dorothy Allison of Prudenville, Mich.; and two grandchildren.

Katherine E. Chasteen, Bradenton
Katherine E. "Kitty" Chasteen, 61, of Bradenton, died Dec. 7, 2002, at home.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 3904 Cortez Road. Service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Pritchett officiating. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
Born in Baltimore, Mrs. Chasteen came to Manatee County from Granite City, Ill., in 1961. She was a nurse manager and licensed practical nurse with Verandas ACLF in Bradenton. She was Pentecostal.
Survivors include four daughters, Tina Cunningham, Vickie Lischka, Kathy Wetzel Fulghum and Sharon, all of Bradenton; a brother, Timothy Douglas of Indiana; her parents, Jay and Alberta Hess of Waverly, Kan.; and seven grandchildren.

Gladys M. Kupka, Bradenton
Gladys M. Kupka, 80, of Bradenton, died Dec. 7, 2002, in Blake Medical Center.
Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 1221 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton, with the Rev. Robert Green officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 21475, St. Petersburg, Fla., 33742.
Born in Rochester, N.Y., Mrs. Kupka came to Manatee County from Buffalo, N.Y., in 1988. She retired as a supervisor with M. Wile Garment Co. in Buffalo. She was Catholic.
Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Bunting of Sarasota, June Bump of Oakfield, N.Y., and Florence Reed of Buffalo; a sister, Florence Herkimer of Seattle; a brother, Lester Whipple of Rochester, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Gladys M. Kupka
Gladys M. Kupka died Dec. 7, 2002, at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton. She was loved and will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Debra McKeown, Lynne Emerson, Robert Bunting & Tina Miller. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stanley Kupka.

Miriam V. Anderson, Bradenton
Miriam V. Anderson, 75, of Bradenton, died Dec. 5, 2002, in Hospice House of Bradenton.

Born in Chickawaga, N.Y., Mrs. Anderson came to Manatee County from New Milford, N.J., in 1989. She was a laboratory technician. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, James C.; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Cook and Betty Kennedy, both of Bradenton.

Edward L. Cox Jr., 84, died Dec. 5, 2002, in Blake Medical Center.
There will be no visitation or services. Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10141, 420 67th St. W., Bradenton, Fla. 34209. Brown and Sons Funeral Home, 43rd St. Chapel, 604 43rd St. W., Bradenton, is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Boston, Mr. Cox came to Manatee County from Ashland, Mass., in 1980. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He retired as an executive for General Motors in Framingham, Mass., where he worked for 28 years. He was a founding member and first commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Leonard G. Chesmore Post in Holliston, Mass., a member of the Mt. Hollis Masonic Lodge in Holliston and of the Holliston Sportsman's Club.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothea; a daughter, Barbara E. Kopp of Bradenton; a son, Edward A., of Ludlow, Mass.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
