Gloria Gayle Williams
Manatee County - Gloria Gayle Williams, 57, died May 24, 2004, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend.
Gloria was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, on July 12, 1946, and spent her early years living the wandering life of an "Army Brat," enriching by her presence such places as Falls Church, Virginia; San Antonio, Texas; Munchweiler, Germany and many others.
She was the oldest child in a family of five children and had many responsibilities, which she executed with warmth of spirit and hilarity. Her mother, sisters and brother regarded her as a powerful source of various comforts when they were growing up and still often relied on her as adults. She was blessed with the capacity for huge personal charm. If one were to describe the best that was Gloria, it would be her glorious sense of the absurd, her inability to say no to anyone in need, and her beauty of person. Despite her very real personal torments, she could be charismatic to the end.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Molly Motsinger (Rick), and grandchildren Hunter and Chloe; her mother, Gayle Marsh of Bradenton; her sisters and brother, Jennifer, Suzanne and Edwin Marsh, and niece Jessica, also of Bradenton, and her sister, Marilyn Scheffel (Steve) and niece, Elizabeth of East Lansing, Michigan. Gloria's husband, Jim Williams, predeceased her exactly two years ago, her father Edwin Marsh exactly three. Her son Russell Wade Bowman died in 1980 at the age of 12.
A memorial service will be held in Christ Episcopal Chapel on Saturday, May 29, at 11 a.m. Father Ken Higgenbotham will preside. Gloria's ashes will be interred in the Memorial Garden at the church.
