John E. Wilbur, Palmetto
John E. Wilbur, 84, of Palmetto, died Oct. 18, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Calvery Community Church in Flint, Mich., with the Rev. Sara LaRose Nattell officiating. National Cremation Society Sarasota Chapter is in charge of cremation arrangements. Born in Evart, Mich., Mr. Wilbur came to Manatee County from Flint in 1975. He worked at the A.C. Spark Plug Division of General Motors for 35 years. He was a member of the Sarasota and Bradenton Barbershop Chorus.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; a daughter, Carol Nordberg of Flint; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Mary Rita Anderson, Bradenton
Mary Rita Anderson, 82, of Bradenton, died Oct. 14, 2002, at home.

Mary "Mae" Armstrong, 84, of Bradenton, died Oct. 19, 2002, in Blake Medical Center.

Born in Leominster, Mass., Mrs. Armstrong came to Manatee County from there in 1978. She was a retired bookkeeper for Foster Grant Sunglass Company in Leominster for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, John A., of Boca Raton, and Richard F., of Leominster; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Heidi G. Buchanan, Bradenton
Heidi G. Buchanan, 42, of Bradenton, died Oct. 18, 2002, in Springwood Nursing Home, Sarasota.
There will be no service. Toale Brothers Funeral Home, South Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Springville, N.Y., Mrs. Buchanan came to Manatee County from Arcade, N.Y., in 1987. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Brian R.; a daughter, Stephanie, of Sarasota; three sons, Robbie, of Sarasota, Jeremy, of Tallula, Ill., and Scott, of Bradenton; three brothers, Troy Williams and Todd Williams, both of Sarasota, and Tony Williams of Delevan, N.Y.; and her parents, Gail and Joyce Williams of Arcade.

Robert J. Curran, 87, of Bradenton, died Oct. 20, 2002, in Freedom Village Nursing Center.
Visitation will be private. Graveside service will be in Franklin, Pa. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Franklin. Brown & Sons Funeral Home, 26th Street Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Oil City, Pa., Mr. Curran came to Manatee County from La Puente, Calif., in 1992. He attended Church of the Cross in Bradenton. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a brother, Bernard, of Sun City, Ariz.

Clifton Charles Dickerson, 77, of Baltimore and a winter resident of Bradenton, died Oct. 18, 2002, at his daughter's home.
There will be no local visitation. Services will be in Baltimore. Burial will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in Baltimore. Born in Baltimore, Mr. Dickerson was a winter resident of Manatee County since 1995. He was Lutheran.

Nellie Carter Herring, 93, of Bradenton, died Oct. 20, 2002, in Riverpark ALF.

Born in McIntyre, Ga., Mrs. Herring came to Manatee County from Georgia in 1930. She was a beautician. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bradenton.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Reid of Parrish; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Born in Geneva County, Ala., Mr. Hornsby was a resident of Manatee County. He was a master welder/mechanic. He was a member of Inman Park Baptist Church in Winter Haven. He was a member of Mason Lodge 186 in Winter Haven.
Survivors include a son, Bobby L., of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Jean H. Davis of Bradenton; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Robert; a daughter, Shirley Leonard of Bradenton; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Otto came to Manatee County from Fort Lauderdale over 20 years ago. She was a retired waitress and restaurant manager.

Charles "Chuck" John Ringler, 66, of Palmetto, died Oct. 18, 2002, at Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Johnstown, Penn., Mr. Ringler came to Manatee County from Cleveland, Ohio, in 1978. He was a carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
