Arthur George Durbeck, Bradenton
Arthur George Durbeck, 83, of Bradenton, died Sept. 21, 2002, in Bradenton.
Memorial service will be at a later date. Covell Cremation & Funeral Center of Bradenton is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Air Force Memorial Foundation, 1501 Lee Highway, Arlington, Va. 22209-9198 or to www.airforcememorial.org.
Born in South Weymouth, Mass., Mr. Durbeck came to Manatee County from Alexandria, Va., in 1989. He was a retired school teacher. He was a member of First Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a colonel. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Order of Daelalians, The Quiet Birdmen, Bradenton Retired Officers Club and the Air Force Association.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Paxton; a daughter, Deborah Ann, of Alexandria; a son, Daniel Eric, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a sister, Priscilla Dugan of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; and three grandchildren.

Nathan Friedman, Bradenton
Nathan Friedman, 92, of Bradenton, died Sept. 24, 2002, in Bradenton.
There will be no visitation. Memorial service will be at a later date. Burial will be in Manasota Memorial Park. Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Manasota Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Born in New York City, Mr. Friedman came to Manatee County from Newark, N.Y., in 1985. He was a retired pharmacist at Wayne Drug Co. in Newark. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre and the Philippine Islands. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Damascus Shrine Temple in Rochester, N.Y., and a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1249 in New York and Lodge No. 1511 in Bradenton.
Survivors include a son, Charles, of Bradenton; and two grandchildren.

Mabel Mason Gribas, Palmetto
Mabel Mason Gribas, 82, of Palmetto, died Sept. 26, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a wake service at 7 p.m. Sunday at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Manatee Avenue Chapel, 720 Manatee Ave. W. Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Palmetto, with the Rev. Christopher Senk officiating. Interment will be at Skyway Memorial Gardens in Palmetto.
Born in Queens, N.Y., Mrs. Gribas came to Manatee County from Lake Hopatcong, N.J., in 1978. She was a personnel assistant and became the executive secretary to the CEO of Howmet Corp. in Dover, N.J. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, G. John.

James Bernard Hagerty, Davenport
James Bernard Hagerty, 69, of Davenport and formerly of Bradenton, died Sept. 24, 2002, in Davenport.
Service will be in Steubenville, Ohio at a later date. Dundee-Haines City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Steubenville, Mr. Hagerty came to Manatee County from there in 1989. He was a computer analyst. He was Roman Catholic. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; five daughters, Maureen Adams of Pasadena, Md., Karen, of Clermont, Colleen, of Davenport, Marian Thompson of Bradenton, and Marilyn, of Winter Haven; two sons, Patrick, of Bradenton, and Brian, of Englewood; three sisters, Eileen Moody of Mingo Junction, Ohio, Eleanor Kennedy of Cincinnati, and Margaret Coen of Steubenville; a brother, Jerome, of Steubenville; and 13 grandchildren.

Andrew Jackson, Ingle III, Ellenton
Andrew Jackson "A.J." Ingle III, 66, of Ellenton, died Sept. 25, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be private. Services will be at a later date. Ellenton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation of Florida, 1040 Woodcock Road, Suite 119, Orlando, Fla. 32803.
Born in Grandview, Texas, Mr. Ingle came to Manatee County from Sarasota in 1976. He was a retired home building contractor. He was Protestant. He was a past member of the Home Builder's Association of Manatee County.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; four daughters, Amanda, of Charlottesville, Va., Billye, of Houston, and Vivian Johnson and Kathryn Sample, both of Sarasota; three sons, Andrew, of St. Petersburg, John, of Seminole, and Craig Hughes of Gainesville; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Mock of Houston; and four grandchildren.

Gordon M. Becker, Bradenton
Gordon M. Becker, 64, of Bradenton, died Sept. 21, 2002, in Personal Care II.
There will be no visitation or service. Burial will be in New Memphis Cemetery in Palmetto. Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Manasota Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Andes, N.Y., Mr. Becker was a resident of Manatee County. He was a member of Community Church of God.
Survivors include a son, Gordie J., of Bradenton; two sisters, Millicent Bryant of Lawrence, N.Y., and Maxine Melvin of Andes; and a brother, Ronald, of Schenevus.

Martin R. Hawkesby, Bradenton
Martin R. Hawkesby, 47, of Bradenton, died Sept. 25, 2002, at home.
Memorial service will be private. National Cremation Society Sarasota Chapter is in charge of cremation arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 600 U.S. 301 Blvd. W., Suite 136, Bradenton, Fla. 34205.
Born in Bristol, England, Mr. Hawkesby came to Manatee County from California in 1999. He was a member of the Yacht Club PCC.
Survivors include a daughter, Hannah Louise, of Pill, England; a son, Benjamin Lloyd, of Pill; a brother, Nicholas Ralph, of Bristol; his father, Ronald Richard, of Bristol; his mother, Barbara June, of Pill; and two grandchildren.

Janet Joan Moore, Palmetto
Janet Joan Moore, 68, of Palmetto, died Sept. 25, 2002, at home.
Private memorial service will be at a later date. The Good Earth Crematory is in charge of cremation arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238.
Born in Otsego, Mich., Mrs. Moore came to Manatee County from Michigan in 1972. She retired as an airline stewardess for Eastern Airline and a secretary for Gardner General Corp. of Nashville, Tenn. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She was a volunteer for Manatee museums and was in charge of the Federal Census Bureau in the area.
Survivors include her husband, Harris Mason; two daughters, Annette Hyatt of Spring Lake, Mich., and Brenda Wise of Muskegon, Mich.; two sisters, Mary Lou Thompson of Luther, Mich., and Lavern Kieft of Grand Haven, Mich.; a brother, Marvin Meyers of Jenison, Mich.; and three grandchildren.

Mildred Mary, Papadopulo, Sarasota
Mildred Mary "Millie" Papadopulo, 78, of Sarasota and formerly of Bradenton, died Sept. 25, 2002, in the Inn at Sarasota Bay Club.
There will be no visitation. Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at Saints Peter and Paul The Apostles Catholic Church, 2850 75th St. W., with the Rev. Edward D. Moretti officiating. Brown & Sons Crematory is in charge of cremation arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Roskamp Institute for Alzheimer's Research, Attn: Amy Mussenden, University of South Florida, 3515 E. Fletcher Ave., Tampa, Fla. 33613.
Born in Washington, D.C., Mrs. Papadopulo came to Manatee County from Olney, Md., in 1978. She retired as director of the Classified Library at the United States Information Agency in Washington, D.C., in 1978. She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul The Apostles Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, John "Nick"; a daughter, Diane Roskamp of Sarasota; and two grandchildren.

Edna W. Reisse, Bradenton
Edna W. Reisse, 93, of Bradenton, died Sept. 24, 2002, in Freedom Village Nursing Center.
There will be no service. National Cremation Society Sarasota Chapter is in charge of cremation arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Born in Chicago, Mrs. Reisse came to Manatee County from Rye, N.Y., in 1965. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Frederick C.; two daughters, Barbara, of Tinley Park, Ill., and Marilyn Lee of Natick, Mass.; and five grandchildren.

Charles A. Weaver, Palmetto
Charles A. Weaver, 94, of Palmetto, died Sept. 26, 2002, in Bradenton.
Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 504 26th St. W., Palmetto, with the Rev. Christopher Senk officiating. Kicliter Funeral Home in Palmetto is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 4148 20th St. W., Bradenton, Fla. 34205.
Born in Richmond, Ind., Mr. Weaver came to Manatee County from Normal, Ill., in 1973. He was the owner and operator of Weavers Rent-All in Normal, retiring in 1973 after 21 years. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Palmetto. He was member of Knights of Columbus and the past president of Terra Ceia MHP in Palmetto.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; four daughters, Joan Petersen of St. Petersburg, Barbara Lesak of Mentor, Ohio, Betsy Harwood of Round Top, Texas, and Toni Petersen of Normal; two sons, Dan, of Petrolia, Calif., and John, of Bloomington, Ill.; a sister, Ruth Heis of Cambridge City, Ind.; 23 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
