Alan Leith Mason, 64, of Bradenton died May 9, 2004.

Born March 11, 1940 in Uniondale, N.Y., Alan came to Manatee County in 1995 from Long Island, N.Y. He was retired. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, U.S. Air Force during peacetime, and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
He is survived by his wife, Adele M. Mason of Bradenton; two children, Elizabeth Ann Mason of Taos, N.M., Gina Ann Mason of Long Island, N.Y.; two step-children, Christopher P. Davis of Mt. Sinai, N.Y., Kerri Ann Davis of Mt. Sinai, N.Y.; and two brothers, David (Phyllis) Mason of Long Island, N.Y., John (Caryl) Mason of Long Island, N.Y.

Tony Myrick was born March 14, 1963, in Bradenton, Florida, to Ollie Myrick and Cassie Sams. On May 7, 2004, at 7:27 a.m., he departed this life for one of peace and rest.
Tony was a member of Eternity Temple First Born Church of the Living God in Palmetto, Florida, where he continued his membership until his departure.
He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Ollie Myrick; his mother, Cassie Sams; his stepmother, Christine Myrick; as a mother, Amy Evans; nine brothers, Ollie Myrick, Jr., Sammie Myrick, Theotia Myrick, all of Hawaii, Christopher Myrick, Willie Sams, Javard Sams, Overton Sams and Travis Sams of Bradenton, and Danny Myrick of Michigan; six sisters, Irish Myrick of Sarasota, Brenda Myrick, Barbara Ann Taylor, Celste Evans, Cassie Sams and Tammi Peatson, all of Bradenton; two sister-in-laws, Yolanda Myrick of Bradenton and Charlene Myrick of Hawaii; one brother-in-law, Bill Pearson of Bradenton; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Friday from 6-10 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, 4005 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Funeral services will be Saturday, 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home.
John Maxwell (J. Max) O'Neill
Bradenton
John Maxwell (J. Max) O'Neill, born March 12, 1913 and died May 11, 2004, at Blake Medical Center.
He was a native, the son of Mr. & Mrs. J.J. O'Neill. He graduated from Palmetto High School in 1930, then attended Jacksonville Business College, was employed by Manatee Fruit Co. until joining the Army in 1942 and served as a captain in the European Theatre of War in the Blood and Fire 63rd Infantry Division. He married Adaline Boyd of Terra Ceia Island in 1941.
After four years in the service, he was employed by Di Georgio Fruit Company and became president of the corporation in 1966, moving to the corporate headquarters in San Francisco, California at that time. He retired in 1978, to the Sacramento Valley, where he continued his dedication to community service. He previously served two years as president of the Homestead Rotary Club in Dade County and was a Rotarian for 40 years.
He served two years as president of the Ft. Pierce, Fla., Chamber of Commerce and several years as a board member of the Ft. Pierce Memorial Hospital. One of his primary interests was with the Boy Scouts of America. He served as a board member of the Florida Fruit and Vegetable Association for approximately 20 years. After moving to California, he served on the Board of Governors of the Council of California Growers. He was a former member of Redlands Golf & Country Club of Dade County, the Yacht Club of Ft. Pierce, The Commercial Club in San Francisco, the Sutter Club of Sacramento, Calif., and the Peachtree Country Club of Yuba City, Calif.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Adaline Boyd O'Neill of Bradenton; brother and sister-in-law David and Dorothea Kerns; sisters-in-law, Fay Boyd and Alice Christian; nephews Thomas M. O'Neill, Fred Baumer, David Kerns, Clinton Kerns and James Boyd; nieces Daphne Boyd, Brenda Boyd May, DiDi Boyd and Valerie Boyd Gargiulo; also several grandnieces and grandnephews.
There will be no visitation. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Saturday 10 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles Catholic Church Chapel. Burial will be private. Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Wilbur "Burr" Boyd Scholarship Fund at Manatee Community College 5840 26th St. W. Joan E. Poulin, 67, Bradenton, passed away on May 7, 2004, after a long illness.
She was born on September 8, 1936, in Hartford, Conn. She was a long-time resident of West Hartford, Conn. She was the church secretary and a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of West Hartford for over 30 years.
She moved to Bradenton in 1996. She worked for NELCO for a few years. Joan was a member of the American Legion Kirby Stewart Post 24 Auxiliary of Bradenton. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had a passion for ballroom dancing. She also enjoyed helping others and organizing social events. Her love and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Poulin is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Joseph of Bradenton; son Daniel and his wife, Julie, of Southington, Conn.; daughter Cynthia Jagielski and her husband, Dr. Stanley of Alpharetta, Ga., and five grandchildren.

Paul Jackson, 72, of Bradenton died May 6, at I.H.S. Riverfront Nursing Home.

Services will be Saturday, May 15, at Mount Pilgrim Primitive Baptist Church, 129 Ninth Avenue West, Bradenton, at 1 p.m.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Betty Graham Jackson of Bradenton; one son, Fredrick Graham; one daughter, Selena Thomas of St. Petersburg; and six grandchildren.
Annie Jewel (Fogarty) Shepard

Annie Jewel (Fogarty) Shepard of Tampa died at home on Wednesday, May 11, 2004.
She was born October 28, 1911, in Bradenton, Florida. She was the daughter of the late Captain Robert and Martha Tillis Fogarty of Fogartyville, Bradenton, and was the last survivor of their eleven children. She attended Manatee County schools and was married to Harry Shepard of Bradenton on January 19, 1929. After their marriage, they moved to Tampa to work for Fogarty Brother Transfer. For many years, she worked for Lee Tire Company of Florida, Vetzel Moving and Storage Company and the Little Lamb Shop. She was an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Tampa, teaching Sunday School, serving in the Altar Guild and in the church bookstore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, in 1970 and her daughter, Nancy Ann, in 2000. She is survived by her son, Dr. F. Michael Shepard and his wife, Sarah, of Martha's Vineyard, Mass.; grandchildren Mary Martha Osborne and Anne Osborne DeAngelis of Tampa, Elizabeth Shepard of Greenbelt, Md., Martin Shepard of Cartersville, Ga., David Shepard of Annapolis, Md., Steven Shepard of Sudbury, Mass.; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church on Sat., May 15th at 10 a.m., with a reception to follow in the church hall. Golden Stevenson was born on May 9, 1908, in Archilla, Fla., to the late Robert and Ida Beckham. She moved to Palmetto in 1931 with her late husband, Deacon Lorenzo Stevenson, where she lived until her demise. Mother Stevenson was a member of St. Luke Primitive Baptist Church and served on the mother board for many years.
She leaves to mourn two grandsons, Alonzo Stevenson Jr. (Jackie), Palmetto, and Vincent Davis (Rachel), Wesley Chapel, Fla.; daughter Jeanette Smith-Thomas (Cornellius), Palmetto; granddaughters; sisters Verdell Brown of Bradenton and Sallie Golf Blythewood, Monticello, Fla.; daughters-in-law Jaunita Stevenson of Bradenton, Ola Mae Stevenson, Palmetto; 29 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.

She was a former member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Warwick, R.I. and St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Charlestown, R.I. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bradenton. She was a graduate of Forsyth Dental School Boston, Mass. She was a retired dental hygienist after 44 years.
Survivors include her husband Donald; daughter Ruth A. Hedin of Pittsford, N.Y.; brother E. Edward Hahne of Sarasota and Charlestown, R.I.; and three grandchildren.
