Amanda M. Menzoff, 85, of Bradenton, died July 31, 2002, in Surrey Place Convalescent Center.
Visitation will be private for the family. Service will be in New Jersey. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains, N.J. Brown and Sons Funeral Homes, 26th Street Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Plainfield, N.J., Mrs. Menzoff came to Manatee County from Fanwood, N.J., in 1980. She was a homemaker. She attended First United Methodist Church in Scotch Plains.
Survivors include two daughters, Ginny Kalmback of Bradenton and Barbara Di Quollo of Fanwood; a sister, Florence Mulley of Readington, N.J.; a brother, Robert Millwater of Denver; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Virginia J. Porcheddu, Parrish
Virginia J. Porcheddu, 73, of Parrish, died July 31, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 1400 36th Ave. E., Ellenton. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Bruns officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
Born in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, Mrs. Porcheddu came to Manatee County from Spring Hill three years ago. She was a restaurant hostess in Danville, Ill. She attended Ellenton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Fred; two daughters, Cheryl Lee of Oakwood, Ill., and Gayle Meeker of Parrish; a son, Gary Meeker of Ellenton; a brother, Ross Smith of Sarnia; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

Vivian Rutland, Bradenton
Vivian Rutland, 71, of Bradenton, died July 30, 2002, in Blake Medical Center.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Saint Mary Missionary Baptist Church, 1006 First St. W. Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Dr. William Armstead officiating. Burial will be in Adams-Fogartyville Cemetery. Riggins and Daughter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Rutland was born in Bradenton. She was a child caregiver. She was Baptist. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 18.
Survivors include five daughters, Carol Timmons and Geraldine, both of Bradenton, Sheila Parker and Tonja Semerant, both of St. Petersburg, and Geraldine Walls of Arcadia; two sons, Johnny Blair Fortune and Donald, both of Bradenton; her stepmother, Ludie Tillis of Arcadia; three sisters, Doris Harris of Hartford, Conn., and Mamie Tillis Bryant and Theresa Jones, both of Bradenton; a brother, the Rev. Theodore Tillis Jr. of Palmetto; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Beatrice Sax, Bradenton
Beatrice Sax, 99, of Bradenton, died July 8, 2002, in Casa Mora Rehabilitation and Extended Care.
Private memorial service was at an earlier date. National Cremation Society, Sarasota Chapter, is in charge of cremation arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238.
Born in Troy, N.Y., Mrs. Sax came to Manatee County from New York City in 1973. She was a homemaker. She was Catholic.
Survivors include a daughter, Joy Rolfe of Sarasota.

Jo Ann (Purkey) Sharrar, Bradenton
Jo Ann (Purkey) Sharrar, 65, of Bradenton, died July 29, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Ave. W. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, 6101 Cortez Road W., with the Rev. C. William Hull officiating. Inurnment will be in Lincoln Memorial in Lincoln, Neb. Memorial contributions may be made to Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, 6101 Cortez Road W., Bradenton, Fla. 34210.
Born in Bellington, W.Va., Mrs. Sharrar came to Manatee County from Lincoln in 1995. She taught junior high school English, journalism and computers at Dawes Elementary School in Lincoln. She attended Kirkwood Presbyterian Church. She was active with the Manatee County Library and the Anna Maria Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include two daughters, Y. Jill Dildine of Seattle and Jennifer Sharrar Bollinger of Akron, Ohio; and a grandchild.

Ernestine Lowe Smith, Bradenton
Ernestine Lowe Smith, 86, of Bradenton, died July 25, 2002, in Casa Mora Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
There will be no service. Shannon Funeral Home, Town Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Flint, Mich., Mrs. Smith came to Manatee County from there 27 years ago. She was employed in the automotive industry. She attended Hope Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Arlene Alderfer of Perkosie, Pa.; and a stepson, Ray III, of Philadelphia.

Robert B. Wagner
Bradenton
Robert B. "Bob" Wagner, 83, of Bradenton, died July 26, 2002, at home.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Aug. 10 at Bradenton Brethren Church, 3708 53rd Ave. E. National Cremation Society, Sarasota Chapter, is in charge of cremation arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238.
Born in Salisbury, Pa., Mr. Wagner came to Manatee County from Ohio in 1986. He was retired from Goodyear Aerospace in Ohio. He was Protestant. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps 1941-45. He was a member of the Eagles, the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Evelina; a daughter, Donna Charlton of Pennsylvania; a stepdaughter, Paulette Blanton of Bradenton; a stepson, Marcel Hurst of Sarasota; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Francis Williams, Bradenton
Francis Williams, 84, of Bradenton, died July 28, 2002, in Bradenton Health Care.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 501 Dr. Martin Luther King Ave. W. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. James McMillan officiating. Burial will be in Adams-Fogartyille Cemetery. Riggins and Daughter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Williams was born in Bradenton.
Survivors include a daughter, Antoinette Armstrong of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a son, Keith, of Southfield, Mich.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Alvin Lorell Barber, Phenix City, Ala.
Alvin Lorell Barber, 55, of Phenix City, Ala., died July 27, 2002, at Doctors Hospital, Phenix City.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Vance Memorial Chapel, 4748 Hwy. 431 N. Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Born in Grantsville, Ga., Mr. Barber was a former Manatee County resident of more than 20 years. He was a self-employed vendor at the Lee County Flea Market.
Survivors include his wife, Sonja "Toni"; a daughter, Rebecca Lampinof Baxley, Ga; stepchildren Robin and William Woolf of Plimpton, Mass., Sheila Woolf of Daytona Beach, and Bobby Holton of Baxley, Ga.; a sister, Thelma Pickard of Phenix City; two brothers, Henry "Pete," of Phenix City and Billy Wayne, of Bradenton; three grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.

Clifford G. Byron, Bradenton
Clifford G. Byron, 81, of Bradenton, died July 26, 2002, at Blake Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bradenton Funeral Home Chapel, 5827 14th St. W. Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel with Elder Bob Montgomery officiating. Burial will be at Skyway Memorial Garden. Born in Bridgeport, Conn., Mr. Byron came to Manatee County from West Palm Beach in 1991. He was a tool and die maker for Sturm-Ruger Firearms in Southport, Conn. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was Protestant. He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 1223, and Elks Lodge No. 1511, both in Bradenton.
Survivors include his wife, Alma L.; four sons, Clifford Jr., of Arlington, Texas, Terrence, of Atlanta, Raymond, of Fairfield, and Thomas, of Bradenton; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

William Coffey, Parrish
William "Bill" Coffey, 74, of Parrish, died July 24, 2002, at home.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Mansion Chapel, 1400 36th Ave. E., Ellenton, with Pastor Paul Harshbarger officiating. Military honors will be rendered by American Legion Kirby Stewart Post No. 24. Inurement will be at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238.
Born in Lansing, Mich., Mr. Coffey came to Manatee County from Bath, Mich., in 1972. He was a retired owner of Wild Bill's Mobile Home Specialist and prior to that worked as zoning administrator in Clinton County, Mich. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was Protestant. He was a Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline, of Parrish; three sons, Billy, of Palmetto, Robert, of Haslett, Mich., and Reid, of Bradenton; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
