Willie James Arnold, 75, of Bradenton, died Jan. 11, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Riggins and Daughter Funeral Home, 105 21st Ave. W., Bradenton. Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pentecostal Church of God of Jesus Christ, 304 Dr. Martin Luther King Ave. E., Bradenton, with Bishop Henry Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Adams-Fogartyville Cemetery in Bradenton.
Born in Houston County, Ga., Mr. Arnold came to Manatee County from there in 1959. He was employed in the construction industry. He was Baptist.
Survivors include five daughters, Brenda Thomas, Carol Brown and Chandra Washington, all of Bradenton, and Sandra and Willine, both of Palmetto; four sons, W.P. Cosby-Arnold of Bradenton, Wilbert Ingram of Perry, Ga., Harry, of Detroit, and Eugene, of Unadilla, Ga.; three sisters, Hattie Jackson of Rochelle, N.J., Lorine Moonley of Long Beach, Calif., and Rutine, of Jacksonville; two brothers, Edison, of Jacksonville, and Vasa Tommy, of Texas; 23 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Jean R. Barnes, 75, of Bradenton, died Jan. 13, 2002, in Bay Pines V.A. Hospital.
Memorial service will be private. The Good Earth Crematory, Bradenton, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 18, 111 63rd Ave. E., Bradenton, Fla., 34203.
Born in Tipton, Okla., Mr. Barnes came to Manatee County from Temple, Texas, in 1998. He was a retired electronic engineer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans No. 18 in Bradenton and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in California.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia B. Duraine of Bradenton, and Cheryl Price of Temple, Ga.; two sons, James G., of Dallas, Ga., and Russell E., of Las Vegas; and a sister, Kathylene S., of Las Vegas.

James Base, 51, of Bradenton, died Jan. 11, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.
There will be no service. Burial will be in Dorthey, N.J. Sims-Woodie Mortuary, Palmetto, is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Dorthey, Mr. Base came to Manatee County from there 15 years ago. He was a tire changer in the automobile industry. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include two sisters, Robin Dixon and Melissa Rubin, both of Redcreek, Pa.; and a brother, Robert, of Bradenton.
Loyal L. Culp

Loyal L. Culp, 77, of Bradenton, died Jan. 15, 2002, at home.
Memorial service will be in Goshen, Ind., at a later date. Brown and Sons Funeral Homes, 43rd Street Chapel, Bradenton, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Braden River Baptist Church Building Fund, 5412 E. State Road 64, Bradenton, Fla., 34208.
Born in Goshen, Mr. Culp came to Manatee County from there in 1987. He retired in 1987 as a representative from Scott Lad Foods in Goshen, after 25 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a former member of the Goshen Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Cynthia Hooley of Sarasota; a son, David L., of Goshen; three sisters, June Barghahn, Barbara Grooms and Gloria Clark, all of Goshen; three brothers, George Jr., and Robert, both of Goshen, and Wilbur, of Tuscon, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

Jimmie L. Denman, 53, of Oneco, died Jan. 12, 2002, in Bay Pines.
Visitation will be at the time of service. Service will be noon Sunday at First Baptist Church of Oneco, 1701 51st Ave. E., Bradenton, with the Rev. John Isom officiating. Born in Bradenton, Mr. Denman was a lifelong resident of Manatee County. He was an air conditioning mechanic. He was Protestant. He served in the U.S. Marines. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret; and two brothers, Richard, of Lake Mary, and Ronald, of South Florida.

Jo Ellen Duke, 77, of Bradenton, died Jan. 15, 2002, at home.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Ellenton United Methodist Church, 3607 U.S. Highway 301, with the Rev. Steven Bruns officiating. Brown and Sons Funeral Homes, 43rd Street Chapel, Bradenton, is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Indianapolis, Mrs. Duke came to Manatee County from Plainfield, Ill., in 1989. She was a retired teacher from Illinois and from Florida. She attended Ellenton United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include four daughters, Katie Spivey of Bradenton, Mary Jane McMillan of Erin, Tenn., Gail Walker of Lincoln, Neb., and Peggy Lindgren of Shorewood, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Hugh Clell Ficklin

Hugh Clell Ficklin, 91, of Bradenton, died Jan. 14, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 1221 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton. Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Clark officiating. Burial will be in Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Christian Church, 5215 Lorraine Road, Bradenton, Fla., 34211.
Born in Montgomery County, Ky., Mr. Ficklin came to Manatee County from Covington, Ky., 44 years ago. He was a retired machinist from a lock company in Covington. He was a member of Faith Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma S.
Alice A. Keever

Alice A. Keever, 85, of Ellenton, died Jan. 16, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.
Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Monday at Kicliter Funeral Home Chapel, 517 Eighth Ave. W., Palmetto. Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Dr. Charles H. Beal officiating. Burial will be in Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association of Gulfcoast Florida Inc., 2201 Cantu Court, Suite 119, Sarasota, Fla. 34232.
Born in DeFuniak Springs, Mrs. Keever came to Manatee County from Sarasota in 1932. She was a retired bookkeeper from Harllee Packing House in Palmetto, after 30 years of service.
Survivors include two sisters, Alma Williams of Oneco, and Lucille McLaulin Dwyer of Sarasota.

Hiram Clyde McBride, 93, of Palmetto, died Jan. 12, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.
Memorial service will be 7:30 p.m. today at Palmetto Church of Christ, 1575 14th Ave. W. Graveside service and burial were in Manchester City Cemetery in Manchester, Tenn., at an earlier date. Ellenton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Manchester, Mr. McBride came to Manatee County from there 25 years ago. He attended Palmetto Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Robert, of Arizona, and Larry, of Indiana; and several grandchildren.
Cancelmo A. Morgan Jr.

Cancelmo A. "Sam" Morgan Jr., 54, of Clearwater, formerly of Bradenton, died Jan. 15, 2002, in Clearwater.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Jan. 26 at Shannon Funeral Home, 1015 14th St. W., Bradenton, with the Rev. Richard Nussel officiating.
Born in Bradenton, Mr. Morgan was a lifelong resident of Manatee County. He was a licensed practical nurse at Venice Hospital. He was Protestant. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include three cousins, Alva Anderson of Terra Ceia, Harry Anderson of Anna Maria, and Jimmy Smith of Lakeport.
