John R. Holmes, 54, of Holmes Beach, died June 13, 2001, in Bay Pines Veterans Affairs Medical Center, St. Petersburg.

Born in Bloomington, Ill., Mr. Holmes was a resident of Manatee County for most of his life. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp, 1st Division, during the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star medals.
Survivors include his mother, Betty, of Holmes Beach; a sister, Patricia, of Bradenton; and two brothers, Billy, of San Francisco, and Jack, of Sarasota.

Born in Brockton, Mass., Mr. McLea came to Manatee County from Norton, Mass., in 1978. He was Protestant.

Kenneth John Mede, 62, of Bradenton, died June 16, 2001, at home.
Service will be 10 a.m. today at Ellenton Funeral Home, 3411 U.S. 301, Ellenton.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Mede came to Manatee County from Connecticut eight years ago. He was a tavern owner. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard.
Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly, of Bradenton; a son, Kenneth J. Jr., of Bradenton; five sisters, Dorothy, Linda, Marion, Priscilla, and Barbara; four brothers, James, John, Richard, and Donald; and two grandchildren.

Born in Charleston, W.Va., Mrs. Nichols came to Manatee County from Dearborn in 1978. She was a homemaker. She attended Palma Sola Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Manatee River Christian Women's Organization, The Women's Club of Bradenton, The New Floridian's Club and The Wives of Retired Officers.
Survivors include her husband, Col. James B. Nichols; a daughter, Linda P. Lennon of Bradenton; two sons, David R. Halstead of Dearborn, and P. Gladys M. Roberts, 73, of Hamilton, N.J., and winter resident of Ellenton, died June 16, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Ellenton Funeral Home, 3411 U.S. 301, Ellenton. Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Denise M. Plante officiating. Burial will be Wednesday in Mansion Memorial Park, Ellenton, following the service.
Born in Morristown, N.J., Mrs. Roberts was a winter resident of Manatee County since 1990. She was a senior clerk receptionist at the Division of Motor Vehicles for the State of New Jersey. She attended Ellenton United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Woodmen of the World in Hamilton; and the Deborah Hospital Liberty Chapter.
Survivors include her husband, William F.; and two brothers, Bobby Johnson of Bayville, N.J., and Edward Johnson of Denville, N.J.

Raymond George Trotter Sr., 76, of Palmetto, died June 16, 2001, in Casa Mora Rehabilitation and Extended Care.

Born in Freehold, N.J., Mr. Trotter came to Manatee County from New Jersey five years ago. He was a chef. He attended the United Methodist Drive-in Church. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines. He was a volunteer at DeSoto National Memorial Park.
Survivors include five daughters, Barbara Burr and Judith Barnes, both of Seaside, N.J., Kathy Penenetti of Toms River, N.J., Elizabeth Rieley of Palmetto, and Kelly Workman of Hollywood; six sons, Raymond G. Jr., of Hollywood, Melvin, of Cape Coral, Michael, and John, both of Toms River, Joseph A., of Port St. Lucie, and Kenneth, of Waterford, Mich.; 23 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Born in Saginaw, Mich., the Rev. Collver came to Manatee County from there five years ago. He was an elementary school teacher and a retired minister from Saginaw. He attended Kirkwood Presbyterian Church. He served as an airman 1st class in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Lions Club in Michigan and in Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; three sons, William, of Texas, Michael, of Virginia, and Brian, of Michigan; two stepsons, Rick Richardson of Michigan, and Greg Richardson of Florida; three sisters, Helen Childers of Massachusetts, Eleanor Gill of Maryland, and Carol Baumeister of Michigan; a brother, Glenn, of Oregon; and three grandchildren.

Born in Warren, Ohio, Mr. Dutton came to Manatee County from Grand Island, Neb., in 1991. He was an electrical engineer at Lockheed Martin in Denver for 30 years. He attended First Baptist Church of Sarasota. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Sub. Division in Australia during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the University of Nebraska Alumni Association.
Survivors include his wife, Jean S.; two daughters, Diane Lawrence of Boulder, Colo., and Debra Kimberlin of Woodbridge, Va.; a son, David, of Mobile, Ala.; and six grandchildren.
