Regina Ash, age 38, of Fayetteville, N.C., died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002.
She was born Dec. 15, 1963, in Miami to Liddle and Estella Mae Sermon Ash. Miss Ash was a former resident of Okeechobee for 26 years and graduated from Okeechobee High School. She was a member of Jerusalem Ministries.
Survivors include: her parents, Liddle Ash of Miami and Estella Mae Ash of Okeechobee; one daughter, Yulonda Renee Ash of Orlando; three brothers, Liddle Edward (Renee) Ash of Miami, Freddie Lee Ash of Rochester, N.Y., and James Edward Ash of Okeechobee; and two sisters, Diane A. Ash and Delcear Ash, both of Rochester, N.Y.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 23, from 5 until 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Jerusalem Ministries, 912 N.W. Second St., at 1 p.m. with Pastor Larry Andrews officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Gordon H. Hostettler
Gordon H. Hostettler, age 87, of Fort Pierce, died Aug. 16, 2002.
Mr. Hostettler lived in St. Lucie County for 56 years, coming from Henryville, Ind., where he was born.
Before retirement, he worked for Major Electric of Fort Pierce for 27 years and also worked in two national defense plants and was a retired farmer.
He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church, Fort Pierce, and a 50-year Mason of the Henryville, Ind., Lodge #651 F&M.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert L. Hostettler.
Survivors include: his wife of 64 years, Beulah L. Hostettler of Fort Pierce; his son, Gordon L. (Joan) Hostettler of Hampton, Va.; his daughters, Jacquelan (Clayton) Williams of Okeechobee and Janet (Jack) Hiott of Port St. Lucie; five grandchildren, Gordon, Jodi, Monica, Melodie, and Cliston; and two great-grandchildren also survive him.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Haisley-Hobbs Funeral Home, Inc., Fort Pierce.
Funeral services will be on Monday, Aug 19, at 2 p.m., at Parkview Baptist Church, Fort Pierce, with Reverend Robert Barrett officiating. Interment will be in White City Cemetery.

Kenneth M. Stewart, Sr.
Kenneth M. Stewart, Sr., age 84, of Beaver Dam, Ky., died Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Stewart was born in Ohio County. He retired from Ashland Oil Company after 32 years; was a member of Green River Baptist Church; a member of the Sunset Lodge No. 915 F & AM in Louisville. Mr. Stewart lived in Okeechobee for about 20 years and was a veteran of World War II in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Martha M. Stewart; one son, Kenneth M. Stewart, Jr., of Corydon, Ind.; three daughters, Margaret Miller of Bloomington, Ill., Janie Lebar of Laramie, Wyo., and Peggy Turner of Revere, Mass.; and five grandchildren also survive him.
Visitation was held on Friday, Aug. 16, in Beaver Dam, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 2 p.m., at the Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Ky. Interment will be in Green River Baptist Church Cemetery near Cromwell.

Amy Joanne Chandler
Amy Joanne Chandler, age 25, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, August 15, 2002. Born January 11, 1977, in West Palm Beach, Florida, Joanne had been a lifetime resident of Okeechobee. She graduated from Okeechobee High School, Class of 1995 and was a member of the Oakview Baptist Church. She was a nail technician by trade.
Survivors include: her parents, Noel and Louise Chandler of Okeechobee; one brother, John Ashley Chandler and his wife, D'Anne Chandler of Arcadia; paternal grandmother, Wilma Chandler of Okeechobee; maternal grandmother, Bertice Harper and her husband, John Harper of McAlpin, Florida; two nephews, Thad and Tyler Chandler of Arcadia; niece, Taylor Chandler of Arcadia; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Buxton Funeral Home on Saturday, August 17, 2002, from 5 until 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, August 18, 2002, at 2 p.m., at Oakview Baptist Church, 677 S.W. 32nd Street, Okeechobee, Florida, with Reverend Dr. John Keith, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Basinger Cemetery.

Gary Dean Taylor
Gary Dean Taylor, age 42, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, August 11, 2002.
Mr. Taylor was born on Jan. 25, 1960, in Baltimore, Md. He had been a resident of Okeechobee for four years, and enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson.
Survivors include: his wife, Tina Taylor of Okeechobee; sons, Jason and Gary Taylor, Jr., of Okeechobee, Robert Pare of Cecil (Faye) Hainey of Fort Lauderdale; one daughter, Crystal Pare of Fort Lauderdale; mother, Jean Holdie of Arcadia; and sister, Tammy Monahan of Okeechobee also survives him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 16, from 2 until 5 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow visitation on Aug. 16, at 5 p.m., in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel.

Curtis Bowling
Curtis Bowling, age 73, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mr. Bowling was born on March 27, 1929, in Broadhead, Ky. Mr. Bowling had been a resident of Okeechobee for 25 years. He was a member of the Oakview Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge of Okeechobee and Scottish Rite in West Palm Beach.
Preceded in death by: his parents, Patrick and Auda Brock Bowling; sister, Jewell Repyneck; and grandson, Brian C. Bowling.
Survivors include: his faithful and devoted wife of 55 years, Gladys Bowling of Okeechobee; son, Warren C. (Evelyn) Bowling of Middletown, Ohio; and his brother, Tom (Pauline) Bowling of Middletown, Ohio.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 16, from 9 until 10 a.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
A Masonic service and funeral service will be conducted following visitation, at 10 a.m., with Reverend Dr. John Keith, Pastor of Oakview Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

John R. Surles
John R. Surles, age 81, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at Okeechobee Health Care Facility.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1921, in Holmes Bay, Maine. Mr. Surles, formerly of Lubec, Maine, had been a resident of Okeechobee for nine years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in France. Mr. Surles was a member of the American Legion and VFW of Calais, Maine. He was a carpenter and a member of Local Carpenter's Union No. 621.
John was preceded in death by one son, William Surles; stepson, Ross Alan Grindle; and a brother.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 22 years, Ethel Surles of Okeechobee; one son, John Surles of Brookline, Mass.; one daughter, Mary Ann (Allen) Suddy of Bangor, Maine; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Masiel Miller of Perry, Maine and Doris Stickles of Las Cruces, N.M.; one stepson, Raymond R. Grindle of Aurora, Maine; four stepdaughters, Cheryle Dyer of Franklin, Maine, Cathye Folsom of Okeechobee, Candyce (Allen) Wilbur of Eastbrook, Maine and Celeste Cote of Oldtown, Maine; 12 step-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren also survive him.
There will be no visitation or services.

Ward S. Gubler
Ward S. Gubler, age 76, of Okeechobee died Monday, August 12, 2002 in JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Florida.
Mr Gubler was born March 30, 1926, in Buhl, Idaho, son of Carlos and Nita Gubler. Mr Gubler graduated from Buhl High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a B-17 tail-gunner for three years.
Mr. Gubler developed and operated his own accounting practice for many years in Fort Pierce. He was very active in the Westside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. In l978, Mr. Gubler moved to Okeechobee, focusing his accounting practice to local clients. He retired in 1991, but continued to work part-time until his death. Since moving to Okeechobee, Mr. Gubler, a charter member of Oakview Baptist Church, taught Sunday School, held many service positions in the church and was a deacon. Mr. Gubler was also very active in numerous positions and committees for the Baptist Association. He had a special interest in the Spanish mission of the Church, Mr. Gubler was an example of living one's life for Christ and lived so that others would come to know Christ as the Lord of their life.
In addition to his church service, Mr. Gubler was very active in the Literacy Society on both a local and state level and served as the first treasurer for the Florida Literacy Coalition.
He was a devoted and loving husband and father.
Preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Phyllis Diaz.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 56 years, Beth; one son, Dennis (Dena) Gubler of Tampa; one daughter, Becky (Tim) Mosley of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five grandchildren, Derek Gubler and Daryl Gubler of Tampa, Jenny (Scott) Brown and Laura (Alex) Otalora of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Caroline Mosley, serving on the mission field in Southeast Asia-North Africa; three great grandchildren, Isaac Otalora,
Sarah Brown and Micah Brown; two sisters, Glenna Mays of Jerome, Idaho and Wanda (Jim) Harte of Twin Falls, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Corinne Ragsdale and father-in-law, Rev V.J. Ragsdale.
The family requests memorials to the Oakview Baptist Church Building Fund in lieu of flowers. Memorials may be sent to Oakview Baptist Church, Building Fund, 677 S W. 32nd, Street, Okeechobee, Fla. 34974.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, starting at 10 a.m., at the Oakview Baptist Church.
The Funeral will follow at 11 a.m., at Oakview Baptist Church, with Rev. John Keith Rev. Charles Rice and Rev. Mickey Evans officiating.

Dutch Robbins
Dutch Robbins, age 66, of Okeechobee, died Monday, Augsust 12, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Robbins was born on Feb. 4, 1936, in Des Moines, Iowa. Mr. Robbins had been a resident of Okeechobee for five years. He was a member of the American Legion and was of the Mormon faith. Mr. Robbins had owned and operated a concrete construction business and most recently had worked at Winn-Dixie.
Survivors include: his loving wife of four years, Joyce M. Robbins of Okeechobee; two stepchildren, Laura (Clay) Dowell and Mark "Tony" (Teresa) Cooper, both of West Palm Beach; sister-in-law, Linda Cotton of Okeechobee; and nephew, Jimmy Trent of West Palm Beach also survives him.
There will be no visitation or services.

Jacob Daniel Silvas
Jacob Daniel Silvas, age 3, died Friday, August 9, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Jacob was born on May 25, 1999, in Vero Beach, Florida.
Survivors include: his father, Juaquin Silvas, Jr. of Okeechobee; his mother, Tina Silvas of Indiantown; two brothers, Gage M. Lamb and Julian M. Silvas of Okeechobee; paternal grandparents, Juaquin Silvas Sr. and Gracie Silvas of Okeechobee; maternal grandparents, Dale and Penny Nowlin of Okeechobee; aunt, Maria (Barry) Irwin of Okeechobee; and uncle, Jonathan Nowlin of Okeechobee.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 1 until 2 p.m., at the Peace Lutheran Church, 750 N.W. 23rd Lane in Okeechobee.
Funeral services will be conducted following visitation on Aug. 17, at 2 p.m., with Rev. John Hirst, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Cheryl "Miss I" Hall-Ihinger
Cheryl "Miss I" Hall-Ihinger, 54, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee.
She was born March 15, 1948, at Canton, Ohio. She was the daughter of Clyde A. and Ethel Twigg Hall.
Mrs. Hall-Ihinger was a teacher's assistant at the Okeechobee High School and New Endeavors School.
She came to Okeechobee in 1971.
She was of the Methodist faith, and was a member of the Moose Lodge.
She was married to Clarence C. Ihinger for 30 years.
She is survived by: son, James H. Ihinger of Okeechobee; daughter, Sherri Mullins of Okeechobee; granddaughters, Teagan A. Mullins and Kayleigh N. Ihinger, both of Okeechobee; sister, Elizabeth L. Druckenbroad of Okeechobee; and, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Aug. 13, 2002, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home, 205 N.E. Second St. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Bass Funeral Home chapel.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Henry Pearl White
Henry Pearl White, age 82, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, August 7, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Ms. White was born on August 4, 1920, in Okeechobee, to Henry Edward and Shellie Raybon Brass. She was a lifetime resident of Okeechobee and a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Wesleyan Circle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Clayton White; her parents, Henry Edward and Shellie Raybon Brass; sister, Myrtle; and infant son, David Robbins.
Survivors include: three daughters, Paula (Billy) Williams, Karyne H. Brass and Billie Jean Conrad, all of Okeechobee; six grandchildren, James David Rutland of Mich., David Lee Seabolt, stationed in El Paso, Texas, Grace Williams, Robert Conrad Jr., Kelley Conrad, all of Okeechobee and Randy Conrad of Lakeland; two stepdaughters, Cherie (Bob) Raulerson of Fernandina Beach and Joyce (Joe) Walker of Warner Robbins, Ga.; and step-grandchildren, Greg Raulerson and Renee Heath of Frisco, Texas, Danny Mazza of Boca Raton and Kathy Brendel of Okeechobee also survive her.

Jerry Dallas Tillman
Jerry Dallas Tillman, age 85, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, August 7, 2002, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce.
Mr. Tillman was born on Sept. 18, 1916, in Bayboro, Ga., to John A. and Florence A. Tillman. Mr. Tillman had been a resident of Okeechobee for over 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW and attended the Peace Lutheran Church in Okeechobee.
Survivors include: his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Jeanne R. Tillman of Okeechobee; three sons, Johnny Tillman of Stuart, Jerry D. Tillman, Jr. of Okeechobee and Keith Tillman of Royal Palm Beach; two daughters, Carol Perlaza of Beech Mountain, N.C. and Jeanne Fiata of Okeechobee; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Lattie Tillman of Moultrie, Ga, also survives him.
Visitation will be held at the Peace Lutheran Church, 750 N.W. 23 Lane in Okeechobee on Friday, August 9, from 5 until 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in Moultrie, Ga., followed by Interment in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Moultrie.
