Alfred Louis Smith
Alfred Louis Smith, age 46, of Okeechobee, died Monday, June 17, 2002, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce.
Mr. Smith was born on Jan. 17, 1956, in Sebring. Mr. Smith was a member of New St. Stephen AME Church; he graduated from Okeechobee High School in 1974 and later attended Indian River Community College. He was employed as a Plant Operator with the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority. Mr. Smith has been a resident of Okeechobee since infancy.
Survivors include: two daughters, Meredith Ewell of Los Angeles, Calif. and Alison Smith of Okeechobee; a loving mother, Annie Lee Smith of Okeechobee; brother, Marion Lee Smith of Okeechobee; three sisters, Patricia Jackson and Joyce Smith, both of Okeechobee and Wanda Smith of Tampa; and one grandchild also survives him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, from 10 a.m. until service time at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22, at 11 a.m., at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Okeechobee.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements were entrusted to the Stone Brothers Funeral Home.

Ruth W. Gallimore
Ruth W. Gallimore, age 70, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce.
Mrs. Gallimore was born on Sept. 1, 1931, the daughter of Frank and Rose Pequinot Cardo. Mrs. Gallimore was a factory worker by trade.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Paul F. Gallimore, Sr.; sons, Paul F. Gallimore, Jr. and Rick Gene Gallimore, Sr.; sister, Mary Bechtolt; and brother, Elmer "Spitz" Cardo.
Survivors include: her daughter, Cynthia Brown of Okeechobee; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Lawrence Cuke of Sidney, Ohio; three sisters, Betty Weitzel of Dayton, Ohio, Marjorie Buirley of Fort Loramie, Ohio and Virginia Buyer of Sidney, Ohio.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, from 1:30 until service time at 2 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow on Monday, June 24, at 2 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home.
All arrangements are entrusted to the Bass Funeral Home.

Juan Carlos Lopez
Juan Carlos Lopez, infant son of Arturo Lopez and Maricela Luevano, was born and died on Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at Florida Hospital-Heartland in Sebring.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 20, at the Buxton Funeral Home. Interment was held in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Renee Trivette Newton
Renee Trivette Newton, age 34, of Lincolnton, N.C., died on Wednesday, June 19, 2002.
Ms. Newton was born on Feb. 1, 1968, in Cumberland County, N.C. She worked in the personnel dept. of the Lincoln County Offices.
Survivors include: one son, Bradley Newton of Lincolnton, N.C.; mother, Vicki Bollinger of Okeechobee; and grandmother, Pat Caskey of Lincolnton, N.C.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 21, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the Warlick Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 22, at 11 a.m. at the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Lord officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Family will be at the home of the grandmother, Pat Caskey, 1835 Waterfalls Drive, Lincolnton, N.C.
Memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church, P.O. Box 642, Lincolnton, N.C. 28093.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel in Lincolnton, N.C.

Mark Henry Butler
Mark Henry Butler, age 45, of Okeechobee, died May 29, 2002.
Mr. Butler was born on Sept. 5, 1956, in Middletown, Conn. He was a graduate of Palm Beach Junior College and was attending Florida Atlantic College to complete his junior year. He was employed at UTC-Pratt and Whitney as a senior metalurgist for 16 years. Mr. Butler was a member of the People's Church in Jupiter.
Survivors include: his parents, Henry and Joyce Butler of Okeechobee; his beloved children, Brent and Cassandra; brother, Scott Butler of Conn.; two sisters, Kim Morrison and Sharon Lawson of South Florida; and seven nieces and nephews also survive him.
Graveside services were held on June 3, at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in West Palm Beach.
All arrangements were entrusted to the Mizell-Faville-Zern Funeral Home in West Palm Beach.

June J. Dougherty
June J. Dougherty, age 101, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
She was born on June 19, 1901, in Griffin, Ga. Mrs. Dougherty had resided in Okeechobee since 1981.
She had a variety of interests which included gardening, sewing and needlework.
Survivors include: one daughter, June L. Spell of Okeechobee; grandson, Keith Martin (Julie) Spell, and their children, Amanda, Jennifer, Justin Wiley and Clarissa Gish ; grandson, James Stephen (Debra) Spell; granddaughter, Lauren D. (Ed) Michel and their children, Larissa Larke and Keith Michael; and granddaughter, Merrie (William) Thurman. Private interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday, June 22, 2002.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Robert Trapp
Robert Trapp, age 48, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Trapp was born on Oct. 21, 1953, in Rochester, N.Y. He had been a resident of Okeechobee since January 2002. He was a carpenter in the construction business by trade.
Survivors include: his mother, Barbara June Critchell of Okeechobee; son, Andrew Trapp, who is on military duty; daughter, Sonia Trapp of California; one grandchild; brother, George Albert Trapp of Palmyra, N.Y.; and sister, Margaret Murphy of Ontario, N.Y.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Ilene Lena Clark
Ilene Lena Clark, age 37, of Okeechobee, died on June 16, 2002, in Fort Pierce.
She was born on September 3, 1964, in Colorado Springs, Colo., the daughter of Melvin and Dorothy Tramp of Stump Creek, Idaho.
Mrs. Clark came to Okeechobee from Challis, Idaho in 1998, and was a waitress by trade.
Survivors include: her husband, Ronald James Clark of Okeechobee; three sons, Lucas James Passey, Daryl Dana Clark, and Jesse James Clark, all of Okeechobee; one brother, Tim Tramp of Washington; three sisters, Liz O'Bannon of Indiantown, Julia Sands of Jackson, Wyo., and Nancy Tramp of Afton, Wyo.; and parents, Melvin and Dorothy Tramp of Stump Creek, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Bass Funeral Home.

Frances Louise Ford
Frances Louise Ford, age 71, of Lakeport, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mrs. Ford was born on Feb. 12, 1931, in Citra, Florida. She moved to Lakeport from Sarasota and was a member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church in Lakeport.
Preceded in death by her parents, Victor J. Kunzie and Tensie M. Kunzie.
Survivors include: her husband of 53 years, Allen Ford of Lakeport; daughter, Diana Allision of Lakeport; two sons, Victor and Ronald Ford, of Lakeport; and granddaughter, Melissa Hodge of Lakeport also survive her.
Visitation was held on Saturday, June 15.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m., at the Maple Grove Baptist Church in Lakeport, with the Reverend Coba Beasley officiating.
Interment to be in Ortona Cemetery.
All arrangements are entrusted to the Bass Funeral Home.

Dalton Jay Baker
Dalton Jay Baker, age 2 months, of Brighton Seminole Indian Reservation, died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Dalton was born on April 6, 2002, in Sebring.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Carolyn Tommie.
Survivors include: his parents, Jason and Tanya Tommie Baker of Brighton Seminole Reservation; two sisters, Justice and Tyra Baker; paternal grandmother, Jennie Baker; maternal grandfather, Willie Tommie; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15, from 4 until 6 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
Graveside funeral services and interment will be at Ortona Cemetery on Sunday, June 16.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Patricia "Peggy" Austin
Patricia "Peggy" Austin, age 77, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002.
Mrs. Austin was born on July 12, 1923, in Palatka, Florida.
Survivors include: two sons, Jimmy Austin and Ronny Austin; daughter, Patty Donald; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her brother, Wiley Jones also survives her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the Woodlawn Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Orlando, (407) 293-1361.
There will a private funeral held at a later date.
All arrangements are entrusted to the Woodlawn Funeral Home in Orlando.

Florence L. Myers
Florence L. Myers, age 70, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mrs. Myers was born on March 3, 1932, to James and Rosalind Wicker. Mrs. Myers had been a resident of Okeechobee for 24 years. She was a homemaker and loving mother who was a member of the 441 North Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her devoted husband of 27 years, Jesse E. Myers Jr. of Okeechobee; sons, Collel W. Barnhill Jr. of Okeechobee and Bill (Jobeth) Barnhill of Angleton, Texas; daughters, Charlene (Joe) White of Dublin, Ga., Cheryl (Bear) Hebert of Freeport, Texas, Charlotte Roberts of Sanford, Coleen (Larry) Love of Orlando and Collette Siler of Okeechobee; one stepson, Jesse (Bev) Myers III of Orlando; one stepdaughter, Linda Beadnell of Lakeland; 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, James Wicker of Orlando; and sister, Dolly Johnson of Orlando also survive her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15, from 10 until 11 a.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 11 a.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home. Interment to be held in Fort Drum Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Onis Frank Hampton Jr.
Onis Frank Hampton Jr., age 77, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart.
Mr. Hampton was born on Nov. 15, 1924, in Bedford, Ind. He was a Funeral Director and owned and operated the Hampton Funeral Home in Carthage, Ind., until 1973, when he and his family relocated to Bedford, Ind.
He has been a resident of Okeechobee since 1989. He was a photographer for Interstate Studios until 1987. Mr. Hampton was a Mason and past member of the Lion's Club. He had been actively involved in the First Baptist Church of Okeechobee for many years and served in World War II as a Naval Corpsman in the South Pacific.
Survivors include: his wife of 25 years, Doris Parsons Hampton of Okeechobee; three sons, Ricky of Carmel, Ind., Brian of Anderson, Ind., and Tracy of Greenwood, Ind.; two daughters, Eileen Turner of Dallas, Texas and Twyla Schildmier of Noblesville, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Grant of New Palestine, Ind., and Joe of Bedford, Ind.; and one sister, Rose Hert of Bedford, Ind., also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, from 4 until 7 p.m., at the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 15, at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Okeechobee with Pastor Randy Huckabee and Pastor James Garner officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.

Ardis Louise Brooks
Ardis Louise Brooks, age 83, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at her residence.
Mrs. Brooks was born on Nov. 23, 1918, in Howard, S.D. Mrs. Brooks has been a resident of Okeechobee since 1988. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Okeechobee; Eastern Star; and was a Pink Lady at Raulerson Hospital. She enjoyed square dancing, crocheting and singing in the church choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Brooks.
Survivors include: two sons, John (Sally) Brooks of Okeechobee and Ronald (Judy) Brooks of Duluth, Ga.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dean Swanson of Lake Andes, S.D., Bob Swanson of Albuquerque, N.M. and Richard Swanson of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Glenda Bettis of Denver, Colo. also survive her.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 20, at 3 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, 200 N.W. Second St., with Rev. Jim Dawson, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, Caregivers Fund, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fla. 34973.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Brian Leon Sterling
Brian Leon Sterling, age 24, of Clewiston, died Monday, June 10, 2002, in Clewiston.
Mr. Sterling was born on August 22, 1977, in Pahokee. He owned and operated a music production studio.
Survivors include: his daughter, Nyasia J. Sterling of Clewiston; his mother, Frances Canty of Ft. Myers; his father, Leopold Sterling of Pahokee; two brothers, Christopher M. Sterling and Jonathan C. Sterling, of Ft. Myers; four sisters, Jennifer M. Sterling and Amber-Lea C. Canty, of Ft. Myers, Latoy Sterling and Crystal Sterling of Pahokee; maternal grandmother, Nellie Smith of Clewiston; paternal grandfather, Oscar Sterling of Okeechobee also survives him.
The Gathering will be held on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the Akin-Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Clewiston. A memorial service will close the Gathering at 2 p.m.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Akin-Davis Funeral Home.
