William C. Flynn
William C. Flynn, age 73, of Okeechobee, died Monday, June 10, 2002, in Port St. Lucie.
Mr. Flynn was born on Dec. 20, 1928, in Knoxville, Tenn. He was a truck driver by trade and he enjoyed fishing, boating and traveling. Mr. Flynn was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Survivors include: his wife of 42 years, Martha Flynn of Okeechobee; five sons, William C. Flynn III of Ashville, N.C., Frank Flynn and Larry Oxendine of West Palm Beach, John Flynn and Ron Flynn of Okeechobee; daughter, Shirley Flynn of West Palm Beach; and 14 grandchildren also survive him.
Funeral services will be set at a later time and date by the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Yates Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Pierce.

Margie M. Joslin
Margie M. Joslin, age 85, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, in Okeechobee.
Margie was born on May 14, 1917, in Lexington, Ky., daughter of Charles and Nannie Joslin.
Survivors include: two sons, Charles Joslin and Bob Joslin, of Okeechobee; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren also survive her.
Services will be held at a later date in Lexington, Ky., with burial to be in Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Ky.
All local arrangements are under the direction and care of the Bass Funeral Home.

Howard Harry Bonneksen
Howard Harry Bonneksen, age 69, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Bonneksen was born on Oct. 21, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Bonneksen, formerly of the Hollywood area, had been a resident of Okeechobee for 26 years. He was retired from the Operating Engineers Local Union No. 675 in West Palm Beach, a crane operator by trade. He enjoyed outdoor activities and fishing.
Survivors include: his devoted wife of 50 years, Berta Bonneksen of Okeechobee; one son, Daniel (Diane) Bonneksen of Deerfield Beach; three daughters, Debbie Welker of Port Charlotte, Ginger (Steve) Gelien of Port St. Lucie and Michelle (Richard) Allen of Brownsville, Ky.; five grandchildren; one brother, Willard Bonneksen of Maryland; two sisters, Marilyn Smith of Okeechobee and Nancy Haglar of West Palm Beach also survive her.
There will be no visitation or services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fla. 34973.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Rev. Junus C. Fulbright
After a prolonged illness, Rev. Junus C. Fulbright died Thursday, June 6, 2002.
He is survived by: wife Barbara Harvey Fulbright; daughters and sons in law Tanya (Kyle) Rutherford, Shana (Todd) Garner, Abigail (Shea) Hughes; his mother, Eula Fulbright; and grandchildren Kylee Rutherford, Grayson Garner, Cody Rutherford and Micah Hughes.
He was preceded in death by his father, Junus C. Fulbright Sr.
Rev. Fulbright was the state overseer of the Churches of God in Alabama. While ministering at a district meeting, Rev. Fulbright suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, from which he never fully recovered.
He received recognition with the Citation Award as Youth and Christian Education Director, 1974-80 and 1982-84, and Lee College Upsilon Xi Alumnus of the Year in 1987.
Rev. Fulbright was educated at Lee University with a bachelor's degree in Biblical Education. He served as student body president in 1964-65. He also served on Lee's National Alumni Board, 1972-74, and as secretary, 1974-80; as a North Carolina Summer Bible Institute faculty member, 1967-72, and as a board member, 1972-74.
He was an author, contributing writer and committed gospel preacher; served on various church boards and committees; and, a requested speaker at youth camps, camp meetings and services around the world.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 10, at 1 p.m. at the North Cleveland Church of God with Rev. Gary Sears, Dr. R. Lamar Vest, Dr. C.C. Pratt, Dr. John D. Nichols and Dr. G. Dennis McGuire officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Olive East Church of God, 268 Christian Dr., Cleveland, Tenn., 37312; or, Cornerstone Church of God, P.O. Box 1089 Pinson, Ala., 35126.
The family will receive friends Sunday, June 9, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Grissom Funeral Home.

Bernice L. Bird
Bernice L. Bird, age 87, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at Hospice of the Treasure Coast in Fort Pierce.
Mrs. Bird was born on Jan. 3, 1915, in Torrington, Conn. She had been a resident of Okeechobee for 20 years and was a member of Oakview Baptist Church. She had a love for playing Bridge.
Survivors include: her sister, Janet Rinaldo of Okeechobee; brother, Walter Seaman of Dade City; two step-daughters, Marilyn Warga of New Jersey and Henrietta Mahon of Sebastian; nieces, Janet Blair and Diane DeHart of Okeechobee, Linda Bouche and Candace Nelson of Miami and Suzanne Monks of Sacramento, Calif.; nephews, Fred Seaman of Fort Lauderdale and Scott Saip of Okeechobee; and great niece, Kimberly Williams of Okeechobee also survives her.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 9, from 1 until 2 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home, with Dr. John Keith, Pastor of Oakview Baptist Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Treasure Coast, Inc., 5090 Dunn Road, Fort Pierce, Fl. 34954.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Glen Rebecca Rucks
Glen Rebecca Rucks, age 86, of Okeechobee, died on Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at her residence, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Glen was born on Oct. 7, 1915, in Oak Level, Ala., to J.P. and Willie Rogers Sutton.
Glen married Emmett Rucks on Sept. 7, 1934, and later moved to Miami in the late 1930's where she and Emmett established their dairy business, later moving the business to Deerfield Beach and then in 1958 to Okeechobee where they started Dry Lake Dairy, Inc. along with their sons. Glen remained active in the family business until a couple of years ago. She was a faithful and active member of the First United Methodist Church of Okeechobee.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, Emmett Rucks; and son, Boyd Rucks; and sisters, Mary Lee Chastain and Johnny Faye Tolbert.
Survivors include: three sons, Neil (Rita) Rucks of Zephyrhills, Charlie (Susan) Rucks and Sutton "Ditty" (Wanda) Rucks, Sr., both of Okeechobee; daughter-in law, Mary Alice Rucks of Okeechobee; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 7, from 4 until 7 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 8, at 11 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Bishop, Reverend John W. Keith and Pastor Fred Gardner officiating.
Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fla. 34973.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.

Betty J. Schwamberger
Betty J. Schwamberger, age 75, of Indianapolis, Ind., died Monday, June 3, 2002, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.
Mrs. Schwamberger was born on July 10, 1926, in Portsmouth, Ohio. Mrs. Schwamberger had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1977, after retiring as a surgical technician for 15 years at the Veterans West 10th Street Hospital in Indianapolis. While residing in Okeechobee, Betty was a member of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church in Buckhead Ridge. She taught English in the Catholic mission to the Hispanic community. She and her husband were active in the St. Vincent De Paul Society both in Indiana and Florida.
Survivors include: her husband, Jerome H. Schwamberger of Indianapolis, Ind.; son, John Schwamberger of Greenwood, Ind.; three daughters, Mary Teipen and Marty Teipen, both of Cloverdale, Ind. and Carol Huckaba; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harmon Humphries of Beach Grove, Ind., Terry Humphries of Cloverdale, Ind., and Donald Humphries of Greenwood, Ind.; and one sister, Ina Penn of Okeechobee also survives her.
There will be no viewing or services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Teresa of the Child Jesus in Buckhead Ridge.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Robert Earl Jones
Robert Earl Jones, age 52, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Columbia Raulerson Hospital.
Born November 2, 1949, in Evergreen, Alabama where he spent most of his life, Mr. Jones had been a resident of Okeechobee for one year having formerly resided in Ohio. He served in in the U.S. Navy and was a carpenter by trade.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Devon (Tam) Jones of Columbus, Ohio, and Robert Tavis Jones of District Heights, Maryland; two daughters, Tammy Renee (Fred) Holmes of Austell, Georgia and Michelle (Rasheed) Howard of Fort Washington, Maryland; seven grandchildren and one brother and two sisters.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Robert Henry Nettles Jr.
Robert Henry Nettles Jr., age 65, of Okeechobee, died on June 2, 2002, at his residence.
He was born in Ocala and was a 10-year resident of Okeechobee.
Mr. Nettles was a painter with Tropicana by trade and was a member of the Painters Union Local #171 in Fort Pierce. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and enjoyed fishing and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include: his wife of 43 years, Jeanette P. Nettles of Okeechobee; four sons, Bobby Frank Nettles and Jack Nettles both of Hobe Sound, William Henry Nettles of Lake Wales and Darrell David Nettles of Okeechobee; one daughter, Pamela Sue Orman of Okeechobee; three sisters, Bernice Edge of Ocoee, Virginia Nettles of Salerno and Linda McCarty of Washington; 20 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 5, from noon until 1 p.m., at Yates Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Pierce.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 5, at 1 p.m., at Yates Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Pierce.
Interment will be at White City Cemetery in Fort Pierce.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Yates Funeral Home Chapel, 600 Edwards Road, Fort Pierce.

Roy Douglas Johnson
Roy Douglas Johnson, age 55, of Okeechobee, died Monday, May 27, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Johnson was born Feb. 7, 1947, to the late Beatrice Elizabeth Hughes Cotton and James Johnson. Roy had been a lifetime resident of Okeechobee. He was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Lawrence Johnson.
Survivors include: one son, Sharod Marshall of Clearwater; two daughters, Tara Willis of Okeechobee and Mary Ann Johnson of North Carolina; four grandchildren; three brothers, Manford Cotton of Orlando, Randy Cotton of Okeechobee, and Jimmy Johnson of Georgia; seven sisters, Cynthia A. Cotton, Velma Mitchell, Terri Cotton, Tina Grant, Teresa Hampton and Jeanette Jones, all of Okeechobee and Gloria Johnson of Fort Lauderdale; one sister-in-law, Roxie Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, from noon until 1 p.m., at the First Missionary Baptist Church, 811 N.W. Ninth Avenue.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 1 p.m., with Reverend Leroy Smith, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Gerald Wayne Conniff
Gerald Wayne Conniff, age 70, of Okeechobee, died on Monday, June 3, 2002, in Fort Pierce.
He was born on June 28, 1931, in Miami, to John and Jennie Conniff. Mr. Conniff was a retired U.S. Air Force MSGT.
Survivors include: his wife, Joyce Conniff of Okeechobee; son, Robert Shelton of Lake Mary; three daughters, JoAnn Sheafer of Sebastian; Jennie Thinel of Vero Beach, Jackie Elwell of Vero Beach; and six grandchildren also survive him.
Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on Thursday, June 6, at 11 a.m. with a U.S. Air Force Chaplain officiating.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Bass Funeral Home.

Ethel Margaret Baker
Ethel Margaret Baker, 98, of Okeechobee, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at the Okeechobee Health Care Facility.
Born Oct. 22, 1903, in Winamar, Ind., Mrs. Baker had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1963.
She was a member of the Okeechobee Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Baker and son Harold Baker.
Survivors include: one son, Dale (Joyce) Baker of Palm Coast; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and, one great-great grandchild.
Friends may call at the Okeechobee Presbyterian Church, 312 N. Parrott Ave., in Okeechobee on Thursday, June 6, 2002, from noon until 2 p.m.
Funeral services will be held following visitation at 2 p.m. with Reverend Jim Hudson, Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral home and Crematory.

Margaret E. Daddona
Margaret E. Daddona, 58, of Okeechobee, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at her residence.
Born July 16, 1943, in Norwood, Mass., Mrs. Daddona had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1989, having formerly resided in Massachusetts.
Survivors include her husband, Louis S. Daddona of Okeechobee; stepmother, Frances K. Harris of Largo; and three brothers, John K. (Tammy) Harris of Brooklyn, Conn., Johnathan Bosworth of Glenn Burnie, Md.; and Christopher (Debbie) Bosworth of Baltimore, Md.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
