Evelyn Molly New
Evelyn Molly New, age 73, of Moore Haven, died Sunday, May 5, 2002, at her residence.
She was born on Oct. 27, 1928, in Paynesville, Ohio. Mrs. New had been a resident of Moore Haven for 33 years and was a member of the DAV.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include: her husband, Alvin New of Moore Haven; two sisters-in-law, Eva Bodak of Texas and Wanda Bodak of Port Charlotte; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews also survive her.
There will be no visitation or services.

Dianne Robinson Carlson
Dianne Robinson Carlson, age 59, of Okeechobee, died Friday, May 3, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
She was born on Jan. 8, 1943, in Penns Grove, N.J. Dianne had been a resident of Okeechobee for twelve years. She was a life member of the VFW, Moose Lodge and Eagles.
Survivors include: her stepfather, Jim Robinson of Gulfport, Miss.; one brother, Michael Carroll; two sisters, Patricia McCarson and Kristy Evans, all of N.J.; and loving companion, Jim Work of Okeechobee.
There will be no visitation or services.

Aura M. Patterson
Aura M. Patterson, age 92, died on April 27, 2002.
She was born on Dec. 23, 1909, in Athens County, Ohio, where she spent most of her life before moving to Palm Beach Gardens in 1985; and then to Okeechobee in 1992.
She was a member of the Church of God in Athens, Ohio.
She thoroughly enjoyed her nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and eight great step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Robert; granddaughter, Laura Lee Sanford; step-grandson, John Houston; parents Jessie and Sarah Sams; three brothers; three sisters; three nieces; and one nephew.
Survivors include: two sons, Walter (Esther) Patterson of Okeechobee and Lee (Ruby) Patterson of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and one daughter, Shirley (Everett) Oliver of Carson City, Nev.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family requests all monetary memorials be directed to Hospice of Okeechobee, 411 S.E. Fourth Street, Okeechobee, Fla. 34974.
Andrew G. "Andy" Walsh
Andrew G. "Andy" Walsh, age 85, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, May 5, 2002, at Florida Hospital in Lake Placid after an extended illness.
He was born on March 28,1917, in Harmony, Minn. Mr. Walsh had been a resident of Okeechobee for 20 years and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Having served in the U.S. Army, he was a World War II veteran, and retired from the Admiral/Maytag Corporation of Galesburg, Ill. where he was a quality control engineer.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Delores Walsh.
Survivors include: two sons, Richard George (Sandy) Walsh of Galesburg, Ill. and Terry Walsh of St, Petersburg; one daughter, Mary Walsh of Okeechobee; and one granddaughter, Brandy Jo Walsh of Little York, Ill.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Thursday, May 9, from 4 until 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted following visitation at 6 p.m. with Father Esteban G. Soy of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church in Buckhead Ridge, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fla. 34974.

Winifred Crouch O'Nan
Winifred Crouch O'Nan, age 77, of Fort Pierce, died on April 30, 2002, at Integrated Health Services.
She was born on Jan. 15, 1925, in Okeechobee to Howard and Nita Crouch, and moved to Fort Pierce in 1946.
Winifred was a hairdresser and owned Winifred's Beauty Salon which she opened in 1946 after studying under hair designers of Paris in Miami.
She was a beloved member of the Pinecrest Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was one of 15 members in the original congregation in Fort Pierce in 1946.
Survivors include: one daughter, Marilyn Kimball, of Fort Pierce; one son, Michael Davis, of Fort Pierce; two brothers, Clarence Crouch, of Fort Pierce; and Howard Crouch, of Lenox, Ga. She was lovingly known as Aunt Winnie to 12 nieces and nephews and as Nana to her special great-grand nephew, Alex.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, May 4, at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3535 Deberry Road, Fort Pierce.

Clarence Willis Kinman
Clarence Willis Kinman, age 92, of Okeechobee, died on April 30, 2002, at Okeechobee.
He was born on Jan. 1, 1910, in Oiltrough, Ark. and a farmer by trade.
Survivors include: his wife, Edna Kinman, of Okeechobee, two sons, Bill Kinman, of Okeechobee and Rufus Kinman, of Okeechobee; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, from 3 until 6 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 4, at 10 a.m. at the Bass Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Shirley Davis Bradley
Shirley Davis Bradley, age 83, of Chattanooga, Tenn., died on Monday, April 29, 2002, in Tenn. She was a native of Okeechobee and lived most of her adult life in Miami, moving to Chattanooga in 1989.
She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, active in the Senior Friends, and Daughters of the King.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Emmett Bradley, Sr.
Survivors include: one daughter, Susan (Ron) Whitmire of Georgetown, Tenn.; one son, John (Liz) of Lake Worth; two step-sons, Robert Emmett Bradley, Jr. of Burke, Va. and Donald Van Loon Bradley of St. Petersburg; several grandchildren, including Celeste and Justin Whitmire; and several nieces and nephews also survive her.
A memorial funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 1, at 7 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church with Father Buckley Robbins officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4 until service time at the church.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church Building Fund, 7555 Ooltewah-Georgetown Road, Ooltewah, Tenn. 37363.

Martin Leo O'Shea
Martin Leo O'Shea, age 66, of Holiday Pines, Fort Pierce, died Tuesday, April 22, 2002, unexpectedly at Indian River Memorial Hospital in Vero Beach.
Mr. O'Shea was born on August 28, 1935, in Sturgis, Mich., of Irish heritage and had been a permanent resident of Fort Pierce for the past two years coming from Marlette, Mich. After moving to Florida in 1985, Martin served as building official for the City of Delray Beach, Okeechobee and St. Lucie Counties. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 4693; Michigan Builders Association; Building Officials Association of Florida; Treasure Coast Building Association; SBCCI, MPO, Michigan Municipal League and the Loyal Order of Moose in Okeechobee. At the time of Martin's passing he was Vice President of Curbmaster of South Florida, Inc. and Community Development Director for the City of Fellsmere.
Survivors include: his wife of 19 years, Sheri-Lyn O'Shea of Fort Pierce; two sons, Michael Dennis O'Shea of Spooner, Wis. and Henry James Hyde of Boynton Beach; daughter, Kimberly-Kay Audra Wynn of Fredricksburg, Va.; four brothers, James Michael O'Shea of Lakewood, Colo., Francis O'Shea of Hamilton, Ga., Patrick O'Shea of Hanover, Mich., Joseph Charles O'Shea of Lansing, Mich.; two sisters, Mary Antoinette Zyble of Cheboygan, Mich. and Cynthia Margaret Burt of Taos, N.M.; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive him.
Visitation and a wake was held on Thursday, April 25, at the Aycock Funeral Home Chapel, Fort Pierce.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 26, at 10 a.m., at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Fort Pierce.
An account has been set up in memory of Martin O'Shea at the Pompano Beach City Employees Credit Union, 470 S. Cypress Road, Pompano Beach, Fl. 33060. James E. Williams, Jr.
James E. Williams, Jr, age 70, of Lakeport and Cumming, Ga., died Monday, April 22, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mr. Williams was born on May 25, 1931, in Atlanta, Ga. Mr. Williams had been a seasonal resident of Aruba RV Resort since October 2001. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a retired PGA Golf Professional.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Williams.
Survivors include: one son, James Edgar (Laura) Williams III, of Fayetteville, Ga.; one daughter, Martina Williams (Jerry) Power of Cumming, Ga.; and four grandchildren also survive him.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
A garden fund is being established in he and his late wife's memories and details for contributions may be obtained by contacting the Lanier Golf Club in Cumming, Ga.

Frances Dane Patterson
Frances Dane Patterson, age 89, of Wellington, died on April 4, 2002, at Hospice of Palm Beach County.
She was born in Broad Ford, Pa., on July 3, 1912, the daughter of Samuel Dane and Anne Geisler Dane. She resided in Fair Chance and Uniontown, Pa. She moved to West Palm Beach in the early 1950's and worked at Norman's Ladies Apparel Store until late 1961.
She moved to Okeechobee in 1964, opening a Ben Franklin Variety Store with her husband, Baird, where she worked until closing the store in the late 1980's. Mrs. Patterson moved from Okeechobee to Wellington.
Survivors include: her husband of 66 years, Baird Patterson; nieces, Peggy Hanbury of West Palm Beach and Carole Steele of Richmond, Va.; and many great nieces and nephews also survive her.
Interment will be in Connellsville, Pa.
A memorial mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, April 27 at 6:30 p.m.

Brian Steven Goldstien
Brian Steven Goldstien, age 25, of Fort Pierce, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, in Fort Pierce.
He was born on May 1, 1976, in Hollywood, the son of Bobby and Ellen Goldstien. His occupation was in lawn care and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include: his wife, Christa Goldstien; his daughter, Scarlett Goldstien of Fort Pierce; his parents, Bobby and Ellen Goldstien of Fort Pierce; two brothers, Todd Goldstien of Jensen Beach and Jason Hatfield of Fort Pierce; and three aunts also survive him.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Ruben Cortez
Ruben Cortez, age 44, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, in Okeechobee.
He was born on June 27, 1957, in Weslapo, Texas, the son of Juan Cortez and Ramona Gonzalez. He was an auto mechanic by trade.
Survivors include: three daughters, Cynthia M., Sandy, and Christina Cortez, all of Miami; three brothers, Genaro Garcia, Juan Cortez, Jr., Ramiro Cortez, all of Okeechobee; three sisters, Guadalupe Ponce, Rosa Espada, Viola Cardona, all of Okeechobee; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 20, from 1 until 2 p.m. for family and from 2 to 4 p.m. for the public at the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.

Sheron Kay Hood
Sheron Kay Hood, age 46, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, in Okeechobee.
She was born on Sept. 3, 1955, in Fort Pierce, the daughter of Jessie and Louise Carrera. She was a department manager at Walmart.
Survivors include: her husband, John Hood of Okeechobee; her father, Jessie Carrera of Naples; one son, John Hood, Jr. of Okeechobee; one daughter, Derdra Hood of Okeechobee; two brothers, Danny Carrera of Naples and Ronald Carrera of Texas; and two grandchildren also survive her.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 21, from 2 p.m. until time of service at the Bass Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, April 21, at 3 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Joe Bishop officiating.

Ronald Edward Gessner
Ronald Edward Gessner, age 63, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at his residence.
He was born on December 26, 1938, in Bryn Mawr, Pa. Mr. Gessner, formerly of McKeesport, Pa., had resided in Okeechobee since 1989. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 64.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Wayne Gessner.
Survivors include: his devoted wife of 40 years, Joyce Gessner of Okeechobee; one son, Mark (Ann) Gessner of Okeechobee; two grandsons; Josh and Christopher Gessner of Mobile, Ala.; two granddaughters, Emily and Kristyn Burkes of Lady Lake; two sisters, Jeannine Sinchar of Harrison City, Pa. and Elaine Gessner of McKeesport, Pa.
