George Allen Watterson, age 60, of Okeechobee, died on April 13, 2002, at his residence.
He was born on March 4, 1942, in Okeechobee to Alfred Watterson and Demmie Watterson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired heavy equipment operator for Okeechobee County.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Watterson.
Survivors include: his mother, Demmie Watterson; daughter, Tammy Adams of N.C.; son, Wayne Watterson of N.C.; three sisters, Betty Lightsey of Okeechobee, Helen Grizzard of Georgia, Marida Watterson of Okeechobee; brother, James Watterson of Brooksville; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on April 15 from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Okeechobee Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on April 16 at 11 a.m. at the Okeechobee Church of God on Fourth Street with Reverend Joshua A. Caraway officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Harold L. "Hal" Price II
Harold L. "Hal" Price II, age 55, of Fort Pierce, died Friday, April 12, 2002, in Fort Pierce.
Mr. Price was born in Orlando on July 30, 1946. Mr. Price moved to Fort Pierce from Vero Beach 13 years ago and also lived in Okeechobee for some time.
He worked for Riverside National Bank for 10 years and was a credit card processing manager. He was a member of the Cornerstone Lodge No. 386 in Port St. Lucie, the Amara Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Palm Beach Gardens, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J. USA, Kiwanis Club, SAE Frat, University of So. Florida.
Mr. Price was a classic car collector and loving husband and father. Mr. Price was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church in Ft. Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Blanche McCord Price .
Survivors include: his wife, Michele P. Price of Fort Pierce; sons, Harold L. "Trey" Price III of Tallahassee and Jeffrey S. Price of Orlando; daughter, Mary Kay Price of West Palm Beach; step-son, Michael L. Coleman of Fort Pierce; brother, Gary McCord Price of Leesville, S.C.; sister, Kathryn Price Batton of Marietta, Ga.; and his father, retired USAF Major General Harold L. Price of Myrtle Beach, S.C. also survives him.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 16, at 4 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Pierce, with Reverend Myric Laite officiating.

Jose Aguilar Guevara, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, April 7, 2002.

Funeral Mass will be conducted following visitation at 11 a.m., with Father Hugh Duffy, officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Mexico.

Jessie McLendon
Jessie McLendon, age 95, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, April 7, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
He was born Feb. 6, 1907, in Pearson, Ga. Mr. McLendon had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1972. He was a member of the Okeechobee Christian Church.
Preceded in death by his wife, Edith, and grandson, Steven Maillaro.
Survivors include: one daughter, Bernece Maillaro; two granddaughters, Linda (Stephen) Hayskar and Laura Maillaro; one great-grandson, Justin Hayskar; and great-granddaughter, Stephanie Hayskar all of Fort Pierce.
Graveside services and interment will be Thursday, April 11, at 11 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 6194 N. U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce with Reverend Mike Ratliff, pastor of Okeechobee Christian Church officiating.

Mary Arlene Kurnik, age 79, of Okeechobee, died Friday, April 5, 2002, at her residence.
She was born on May 16, 1922, in Hartland, Mich. Mrs. Kurnik had resided in Okeechobee since 1973. She was a member of the Moose Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Kurnik.
Survivors include: two nephews, Ronald (Jean) Hoggard of Harrogate, England, and Donald (Theresa) Hoggard of Hanover, Pa.

Charlie R. Belk
Charlie R. Belk, age 89, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce.
He was born on July 26, 1912, in Black Shear, Ga. Mr. Belk had been a resident of Okeechobee for over 50 years. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Widow to Widowers.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Charlotte K. Belk; brothers, Jimmy Belk and W.J. Belk; and his son, Richard K. Belk.
Survivors include: one sister, Edith Sheffield; nephews, Edward Anderson, Harris Anderson and Louis Shenefield, all of Nahunta, Ga.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 10, from 1 until 2 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.

Charles Sherman McDugald
Charles Sherman McDugald, age 83, of Okeechobee, died on Saturday, March 30, 2002.
He was born on July 15, 1918, in Oklahoma to Alex McDugald and Beatrice Whiting McDugald. He was an electrician and plumber by trade. Mr. McDugald came to Okeechobee from Dothan, Ala. in 1950.
Mr. McDugald was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bassinger. He was on the board of directors of Dunklin Memorial and Gideons International.
Survivors include: his wife, Margaret McDugald of Bassinger; six sons, Charles (Frances) McDugald of Jacksonville, Scott (Carla) McDugald of Okeechobee, Craig McDugald of Okeechobee, Clark McDugald of California, Tom (Charlene) Jones of Okeechobee, and Jessie (Karen) Jones of Lake Placid; one daughter Stacey (Don) Barber of Okeechobee; two sisters, Mary Jane Crum of Okeechobee and Margaret Armstrong of Missouri; 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on April 2, at Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 3, at 10 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Bassinger with the Reverend Al Jaquith and Reverend Mickey Evans officiating.

Charles is my dad. I have contacted 3xor 3xtimes to have this correction made. In fact the day of the Funeral, several people noticed and reported it, so it could be corrected right away. Please correct it. This is history that isn't correct and should be. So our younger generation would have the true facts. Please help my family and I get this corrected.)

Jean Parkinson Mueller, age 90, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, April 20, 2002, at Okeechobee Health Care Facility.
She was born on Jan. 14, 1912, in Newton, Mass. Mrs. Mueller, formerly of Boynton Beach, had been a resident of Okeechobee for eight years.
Survivors include: one son, Florian "Frank" (Brenda) Mueller; one daughter, Theresa (Robert) Wagenknecht of Petersburg, Va.; four grandchildren; and, two great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Buckhead Ridge VFW and attended St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church.

Antoinette Mary Mathews
Antoinette Mary Mathews, age 84, of Lawrence, Kan., died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Lake View Manor, Lawrence, Kan.
She was born on Jan. 28, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Pietro and Zelinda (Pisquini) DuValle. Mrs. Mathews lived in Okeechobee and Ft. Lauderdale, before moving to Lawrence.
She worked in food service as a cook for many years in the Broward County School System, was active as a volunteer with the Red Cross, Hospital Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels and Hospice of Okeechobee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Mathews; daughter, Arlene Rogers; and sister, Susie Menconi.
Survivors include: daughter, Georgiana Denisar of Lawrence, Kan.; son, Richard Rogers of Chicago; five grandsons; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends prior to the service on Friday, March 29, from 2 until 3 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, Kansas.

Georgia R. Lanier, 95, died March 24, 2002, in Okeechobee. She was born on Dec. 22, 1906, in Frostproof.
She was a housewife and a member of the Okeechobee Church of God.
Preceded in death by: her husband Ira Lanier and sons, Wilbur Lanier, Clarence Lanier and daughter, Leola Waldron.
Survivors include: her son, Robert R. Lanier Sr. (Becky) of West Palm Beach; four daughters, Laura Durrance of Pine, Ariz., Martha Jane Joiner (Bob) of Okeechobee, Dollie D. Adkins of Okeechobee and Elizabeth Hare (Toby) of Okeechobee; 26 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; and 75 great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mable Rhoden of Okeechobee; and daughter-in-law, Mary Lanier of Okeechobee also survives her.
