Arlone Marie Hoggard
Arlone Marie Hoggard, age 78, of Okeechobee, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at her residence.
She was born March 22, 1924, in Howell, Mich. Mrs. Hoggard had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1973. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Ladies of the Elks, Eagles and VFW Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hoggard.
Survivors include: two sons, Ronald (Jean) Hoggard of Harrogate, England and Donald (Theresa) Hoggard of Hanover, Pa.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary A. Kurnik of Okeechobee.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
James Alvan Sargent
James Alvan Sargent, age 69, of Albertville, Ala., died on Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Marshall Medical Center in Albertville, Ala.
He was born on May 8, 1932, in Athen, Ala., the son of Everett Sargent and Lois Lucy. He was a laborer and dairyman by trade. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include: one daughter, Carol Crisp of Athens, Ala; two sons, Gilbert Williams and Jason Sargent, both of Franklin, N.C.; one brother, Billy Sargent of Albertville, Ala.; four sisters, Anna Smith of Okeechobee, Juanita Bearden of Trenton, Ga., Edria King of Ft. Pierce, and Faynette Rogers of Kissimmee; and six grandchildren also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 27, from 2 until 5 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 28, at 2 p.m., at the Venus Cemetery located on County Road 731 in Venus.
Interment will follow in Venus Cemetery in Venus.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Bass Funeral Home.
Genevieve K. Kincade
Genevieve K. Kincade, 86, of Vero Beach, Florida, died March 20, 2002, at V.N.A. Hospice House in Vero Beach.
She was born in Wheeling, W. Va., a daughter of the late Walter and Iva Nutter Kincade
In her early working career she worked for Gem Jewelers, and in the war department at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., as a chief clerk in the signal department of the Military Training Branch. She then worked with the C&P Telephone Company as a supervisor, transferring with the telephone company to Coral Gables, Fla., where she retired after 30 years of services.
She was a Methodist by faith and enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by: one sister, Alda See of Vero Beach; two nieces, Sandra Stealey and Beverly Creel, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one great niece, Kim File of Belpre, Ohio; two great-great nieces, Elizabeth and Tiffany Westfall of Belpre, Ohio; and a cousin, P.K. (Ken) Cooper of Parkersburg, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Madelon Kincade Bileth.
Services were held Monday, March 25, at 1 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, W.Va., with Rev. Jim Mike Ward officiating.
Burial was in Rockland Cemetery, Belpre, Ohio.
Jack Milton Wolf
Jack Milton Wolf, 68, of Okeechobee died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at his residence. He was born June 19, 1933, in Hymera, Ind. He had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1991. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Gertie 'Mae' Wolf of Okeechobee; one son, Benjamin Wolf of Bowling Green, Ky.; three daughters, Robin Howard of Bowling Green, Ky., Julie Wolfson and Debra Wolf of Oak Park, Mich.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Michael Wolf of Irvine, Calif. and Howard Wolf of Hawthorne, Calif.; and one sister, Barbara Sacanoff of San Luis Obespo, Calif.
There will be no visitation or services.

William Howland Curren
William Howland Curren, 67, of Okeechobee, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at his residence. He was born on July 26, 1934. Mr. Curren had been a resident of Okeechobee for 41 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge, Elk's Lodge, Eagles and was the original commander of the VFW.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 43 years, Saba Curren of Okeechobee; two sons, William Stanley Curren of Okeechobee and Kenneth Young Curren of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Janice Atoy Curren of Okeechobee; six grandchildren; and one brother, Ed Curren of Okeechobee.
There will be no visitation or services.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fla. 34973 or food donations to needy families.

Lawrence E. 'Bud' Bradley
Lawrence E. 'Bud' Bradley, 81, of Pomona Park, Fla., died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at Lakewood Nursing Center in Crescent City, Fla. He was born in Urbana, Ill., and resided in Pomona Park for three and a half years, coming from Okeechobee.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps having served during WWII. He was also a captain in the Civil Air Patrol and a pilot. His affiliations include the Moose Lodge, Re Act Club and American Legion in Okeechobee. For most of his life he worked as an automobile mechanic. However, he retired from Eckerd Foundation as a locksmith.
He is preceded in death by grandson, Danny Charles Bradley.
Survivors are his wife of 57 and a half years, Geraldine 'Gerry' Bradley of Pomona Park, Fla.; sons, Charles G. Bradley and wife, Carole of Pomona Park, Fla., Larry Ray Bradley and wife, Beverly of Livonia, Mich., Michael Lee Bradley and wife, Cherie of Mahomet, Ill., Steven Dale Bradley and wife Deborah of Vance, Ala.; sisters, Joan Hyman and husband, Miles of Lancaster, Pa., Jean Grierson and husband, Ray of Danville, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at 4 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home Chapel, San Mateo, Fla.
Georgia R. Lanier
Georgia R. Lanier, 95, died March 24, 2002, in Okeechobee. She was born on Dec. 22, 1906, in Frostproof to W.W. Lanier and Mary Summerall Lanier.
She was a housewife.
She was a member of the Okeechobee Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ira Lanier and sons Wilbur Lanier, Clarence Lanier and daughter Leola Waldron.
She is survived by a son Robert R. Lanier, Sr. (Becky) of West Palm Beach; four daughters, Laura Durrance of Pine, Ariz., Martha Jane Joiner (Bob) of Okeechobee, Dollie D. Adkins of Okeechobee and Elizabeth Hare (Toby) of Okeechobee; one sister-in-law, Mable Rhoden of Okeechobee; 26 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; and, 75 great-great-grandchildren.
A service will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Okeechobee Church of God with Rev. Noah Taylor and Rev. C.R. Kilgore officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday March 26, 2002, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home, with interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.
Noah Lamar May
Noah Lamar May, age 66, of Perry, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Tallahassee Community Hospital.
Mr. May was born on Jan. 22, 1936, in Colquitt County, Ga. Mr. May was a Deputy Sheriff in Pasco, Lake, Osceola, Okeechobee and Sumter Counties for 28 years. He was a member of the Florida Sheriff's Association and a member of the National Sheriff's Association and the Sumter County Cruiser's Car Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents Curtis may and Mary Abbie Glass May and grandchild, Christie Leigh May.
Survivors include: his wife, Marjorie Eldridge May of Perry; son, David Lamar (Connie) May of Perry; daughter, Susan Diane May of Perry; three grandchildren, Amber May, Daniel May and Lauryn Rew, all of Perry; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leland (Beth) May of Lakeland, Cleland (Jackie) May and Larry Curtis May, both of Haines City.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, from 6 until 8 p.m., at the Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 24, at 2 p.m., at the Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home, with Reverend Curtis Eason officiating. Interment to be in Sardis Cemetery, Moultrie, Ga.

Ethel D. Rogers
Ethel D. Rogers, age 90, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Born on Sept. 6, 1911, in Ty Ty, Ga., Mrs. Rogers had been a resident of Okeechobee and worked as a sales clerk in the retail clothing business.
Preceded in death by her husband, Jack William Rogers.
Survivors include: her son, Steve Rogers, his wife, Jean and their children, Nikki and Wade Rogers, all of Okeechobee; daughter, Zary Ann Perry and her children, Tracey D. and Sgt. Major William E. Cochrane and their children, Kayla, Adam and Nathan, all of Iwakuni, Japan, Michael and Teresa Lightsey and their children, Shane and Taylor of Lake Placid, and Gary M. Lightsey and his children, Leigh Ann, Jeffrey and Ethan of Okeechobee; and one sister, Alice Jones of Fort Pierce.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 24, from 4 until 7 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 25, at 11 a.m., at Grace Brethren Church, 701 S. Parrott Ave., with Reverend Monroe Arnold and Dr. Calvin Arnold, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Rogers had requested that contributions be made in her memory to the Grace Christian School.

Darold Gordon Rohweller
Darold Gordon Rohweller, age 76, of Okeechobee, formerly of Howard, S.D., died on Tuesday, March 12, 2002.
Mr. Rohweller was born on Nov. 6, 1925, in Lyon County, Iowa and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 323, in West Palm Beach and founder of IBEW Local 1267 of Jacksonville.
Mr. Rohweller served in the United States Navy in WWII. He served aboard the USS Heminger in the South Pacific from November 1942 to February 1946. He was in the campaigns of Guadalcanal, Lavala Lavala, the Florida Islands, Southern New Guinea, Guam and Saipan. Mr. Rohweller was awarded the medals of American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, Victory Ribbon and a Bronze Star (Okinawa).
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary; three sons, Lefty Rohweller of North Palm Beach, Chuck Rohweller of Newport, N.C.; and Perry Rohweller (Shawna) of Hobe Sound; two daughters, Dyana Beek (Art) of Madrid, Iowa and Jeannie Gallatin (John) of Jupiter; eight grandchildren, Melissa Stanley, Arthur John Beek, John Darold Joseph Gallatin, Janelle Marie Gallatin, Tara Ilaine Rohweller, Tammi Marie Rohweller, Charles Anthony Burrell and Crystal Nicole Rohweller; also four great-grandchildren, Ryan Ellis Stanley; Kelsi Rae Beek, Mikaela Ray Stanley, and Kody Lee Beek also survive him.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, March 16, at the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home in Jupiter.
Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Tequesta.

Dr. Paula Frances
Dr. Paula Frances, age 92, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
She was born April 6, 1909, in Chicago, Ill. Miss Frances had been a resident of Okeechobee for many years working as a Naprapath. She was of the Seventh Day Adventist Faith.
She is survived by several cousins in the Arizona area, as well as many friends, acquaintances and customers in and around Okeechobee.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 15, at 2 p.m., at the Okeechobee Seventh Day Adventist Church, 412 N.W. Sixth St., with Pastor Jack Long officiating.
A private interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery.

Glen English
Glen English, age 85, of Lancaster, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Crestview Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lancaster, Ohio.
Mr. English was born on Jan. 5, 1917, in Cambridge, Ohio. He was a resident of Okeechobee for many years, a member of the Trenton Masonic Lodge No. 8 of Trenton, Mich., a 32 Degree Member of the Scottish Rite and Nobles of the Mystic Shrine of Detroit, Mich., a retired shift supervisor for Penn Walt Manufacturing Co., in Wyandotte, Mich. and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Preceded in death by: his parents, Willard and Laura (Blackburn) English; and sister, Patricia Phillips.
Survivors include: his wife, Raymell English; daughter, Beverly (Tom) Rowland of Lancaster, Ohio; son, Howard (Pamela) English of Gaylord, Mich.; six grandchildren; sister, Jeanette (Robert) Dickinson of Lincoln, Mich.; brother, Howard (Ruth) English of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews also survive him.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial services will be held in Michigan Memorial Park, Flatrock, Mich. at a later date.
The family suggests contributions be made to The Okeechobee Presbyterian Church, 312 N. Parrott Ave., Okeechobee, Fl. 34974.

Roy Gene Going
Roy Gene Going, age 54, of Okeechobee, died Monday, March 11, 2002, at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando.
He was born Sept. 9, 1947, in Okeechobee. Mr. Going had been a lifetime resident of Okeechobee. He served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the V.F.W., and was retired as a mechanic with South Florida Water Management District.
Survivors include: two daughters, Debi Caldwell of Okeechobee and Ashley Moler of Fort Pierce; two grandsons, Mason Caldwell and Taylor Moler; one brother, Virgil Going of Fort Pierce; mother, Martha F. Going of Fort Pierce; two nieces, Treva and Rhonda; nephew, Robert; and numerous close friends also survive him.
Visitation will be conducted on Thursday, March 14, from 3 until 4 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 4 p.m., with Reverend Dr. John Keith, Pastor, officiating. Interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

James A. Hardy
James A. Hardy, age 50, of Lake Placid, died Sunday, March 3, 2002.
He was born in Sebring, and a native of Lake Placid. He was a barber in Okeechobee and a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include: two sons, Justin and Jeffery Hardy, both of Moultrie, Ga.; one daughter, Terry Hardy of Moultrie, Ga.; and three sisters, Patricia Shackelford and Ruth Jones, both of Lake Placid, and Sue Crosby of Port St. Lucie.
A funeral service was held at the Fountain-Chandler Home Chapel on March 5.
