Jason Michael Rojas, Age 19, died Friday Jan. 16, 2004 at his residence.
Jason was born on July 25, 1984, in Orlando. Jason has been a lifetime resident of Okeechobee.
He is survived by his father, Faustino Rojas (Linda) of Groveland, his mother Maria Rojas of Okeechobee, three brothers, Jorge Herrera, David and Estaban Rojas all of Okeechobee. In addition, he is survived by two sisters Monica Herrara and Reyna Rojas both of Okeechobee. Also surviving are his uncle and aunt who were his caregivers, Thomas and Margaret Isaguirre of Okeechobee. Additionally, there are several other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 9 until 10 a.m. Funeral service will follow at 10 a.m.

Lynna E. Griffin
Lynna E. Griffin, age 74, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital. Born Sept. 23, 1927, in Dahlonega, Ga., daughter to David and Melinde Jarrard. Mrs. Griffin retired from Dixie Tag & Label in Charlotte, N.C. where she was a computer operator. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okeechobee.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include: daughter, Carlene Huckabee and husband, Pastor Randy; son, Danny Reid Griffin and wife Rhonda of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren; Aaron Daniel Huckabee, Abigail Huckabee, Nicholas Griffin and Darryl Griffin.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services are Saturday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m., in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Charlotte, N.C.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ's Life Center, c/o First Baptist Church of Okeechobee.

Ralph Evans
Ralph Evans, age 94, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale. Born April 7, 1909, in Bay City, Mich., Mr. Evans had been a resident of Okeechobee for 33 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola, son, Ralph and sister, Lyla Nye.
Survivors include: three daughters, Alice (Harry) Cooper of Haines City, Carol (Leonard) Hennessy of Okeechobee, and Vicki (Robert) Gaffney of Clio, Mich.; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; brother, Donald (Mary Jane) Evans of San Diego, Calif.; and sister, Bessie Bossardet of Shelby, Ohio.
There will be no visitation or services.

Birdie Wilson Fountain Gentry
Birdie Wilson Fountain Gentry, age 91, of Okeechobee, died Jan. 16, 2004, in Okeechobee. She was born April 16, 1912, in Ft. Valley, Ga., to Samuel B, Wilson and Mary Elizabeth Black Wilson. Mrs. Gentry was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Hialeah.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Willle Fountain; husband, Conrad Gentry Sr.; son, Kenneth Fountain; daughter, Mary Bowen and sister, Bernice Joy Galloway.
Survivors include: her son, James Samuel Fountain; stepson, Conrad Gentry Jr.; daughter, Norma Jean Blitch; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from noon until service time at 3 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 3 p m. at the Akin-Davis Funeral Home in LaBelle with Rev. Frank Deerey Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Denaud Cemetery.

Dorr M. Vandall
Dorr M. Vandall, age 84, of Okeechobee died Thursday, Jan. l5, 2004, at Raulerson Hospital. Mr. Vandall was born April 2, l919, in Creston, W. Va. to Murtis Campbell Vandall and Sylvia Criss.
When Mr. Vandall was old enough to drive, he began driving tractor trailers. He was a truck driver for 29 years, Mr. Vandall retired to St. Petersburg in 1971, but he has been a resident of Okeechobee for 16 years. He was an avid fisherman and had been nicknamed "Mr. Snook".
Mr. Vandall was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters, and stepdaughter, Susan Rydstron.
Survivors include: his wife, Geneta Sadler Meredith; his stepson, Joseph E. Meredith of Fayette, N.C.; a number of nieces and nephews, three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Edwin L. Watts
Edwin Watts, age 87, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at his residence. Mr. Watts was born June 7, 1916. He served in the U.S. Army for more than 30 years. Mr. Watts was a great golfer, having played at KOA for many years. Mr. Watts was loved by all. Survivors include: his loving wife Rita Mae Watts.

Carmello "Carl" Sauro
Carmello "Carl" Sauro, age 76, of Okeechobee, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital. Born March 7, 1925, in Niagra Falls, N.Y., Mr. Sauro had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1997.
Survivors include: his wife of 17 years, Linda Sauro of Okeechobee; son, Sam (Pat) Sauro of Jackson, N.J.; two daughters, Debra (Frank) Linza and Carol Sauro of Niagra Falls, N.Y.; mother, Jessie Sauro of Gainesville; and three grandchildren also survive him.
There will be no visitation or services.

Connie May Baker
Connie May Baker, age 63, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital. Born Dec. 12, 1938, in LaBelle, daughter of Benjamin and Lula Belle Guy. Mrs. Baker worked for food service in the Palm Beach County Schools.
Survivors include: her husband, Virgil, whom she married in 1972; sons, Jesse E. Potter Jr. of West Palm Beach, Carl R. Baker and Donald R. Baker, both of Okeechobee; daughters, Karen Sue Jones of Centerhill, Connie Mae Demoranville of Summerfield and Mary Francis Jahnke of West Palm Beach; brothers, Ben Art Guy and Billy Guy, both of LaBelle and Tommy Guy of Naples; sisters, Viola Williams and Evelyn Langford, both of Alva, Lucille Helfin of LaBelle and Mary Lou Cussiens of Purvis, Miss.; she is also survived by 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral service is Saturday, Jan. 19, at 1 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home with Reverend Obie Jones officiating.

Anthony Cacoperdo
Anthony Cacoperdo, age 81, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at his residence. Born March 13, 1920, in Manhatten, N.Y., son of Pietro and Ignazia (Bonacorsi) Cacoperdo. Mr. Cacoperdo retired from the United States Postal Service in Hicksville, N.Y. He came to Okeechobee from Copiague, N.Y. in 1989. He was a member of the Episcopal Church and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association. Mr. Cacoperdo was in the United States Army Infantry 28th Division; serving in Europe Theatre during World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Lucille (Pagnotti) Cacoperdo, whom he married in 1940; two sons, Dominick of Nevada and Peter of New York; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive him.
Visitation is Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 4 to 6 p.m., with Vigil Service at 5 p.m. and Military Rites at 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Funeral service is Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 5 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home.

Robert Gerald Ingersoll
Robert Gerald Ingersoll, age 71, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital. Bob was born April 19, 1930, in Skowhegan, Maine, to John and Sylvia Ingersoll. He served in the United States Navy and was a member and volunteer bus driver of the Okeechobee American Legion. Bob owned and operated Bob's Satellite Company. He was a race car driver for 50 years, racing in New England, West Palm Beach, Hialeah and New Smyrna Beach and won the last feature run held in Fort Pierce. Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Van Albert Ingersoll.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Janie Ingersoll of Okeechobee; four sons, Robert John Ingersoll and Winfield Scott Ingersoll of Okeechobee, Nathan Bryce (Cherry) Ingersoll of Robertsdale, Ala. and David Dale (Rachel) Sparks of Indianapolis, Ind.; two daughters, Linda (David) Robertson and Sylvia Jane Ingersoll of Okeechobee; two brothers, Ronald Ingersoll and Tommy Ingersoll of Maine; and two sisters, Anna Belle Rooney of Maine and Janie Ingersoll-Mahoney of Massachusetts.
Visitation is on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Fred R. Gardner, Pastor of First United Methodist Church and Reverend Dave Robertson, Pastor of Buckhead Ridge Christian Church, officiating.

Larleta "Leta" Alderman
Larleta "Leta" Alderman, age 49, of Okeechobee died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002 at Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart. Born Jan. 25, 1952, Mrs. Alderman was a lifetime resident of Okeechobee. She graduated from Okeechobee High School in 1971 and attended the University of Tampa and graduated in 1975 from Emory University. She worked for over 15 years as a Transition Aide with the Okeechobee School System, working the last several years at Osceola Middle School on the Panther Team. Mrs. Alderman was a member of the Xi Nu Omega sorority of Beta Sigma Phi, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had served the originating sponsor of the Kiwanis Builders Club at Yearling and Osceola.
Survivors include: her loving husband, Ronald T. Alderman, Sr.; parents, Reverend William and Nettie Moore of Okeechobee; four brothers, Eugene Moore (Maxine) of Charlotte, N.C., Willie Moore of Arcadia, David Moore and Steve Moore (Claudette), all of Okeechobee: five sisters, Beverly Fleming (Jesse) of Okeechobee, Marilyn Lewis (Samuel Fleming) of Ft. Lauderdale, Rosa Harrison (Pete Diaz), Cynthia Alderman (Dallas) and Jackie Summers (Mitch), all of Okeechobee; stepson, Ron Alderman, Jr.; stepdaughter, Jackie Alderman, Godbrother, Jerome Smith and Godsons, Michael and Shawn Buckle; mother-in-law, Pearlie Alderman, 29 nieces and nephews, 27 great nieces and nephews and adopted son, Timothy Buxton. Well known and loved in the Okeechobee community, she leaves to mourn a host of friends and colleagues.
Visitation is on Friday, Jan. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Jan, 19 at 1 p.m. in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 1258 N.E. 13 Ave. Okeechobee, with Reverend Leon Camel, Jr., officiating.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial scholarship fund is being established at Harbor Federal of Okeechobee.

Terry Levi Harn
Terry Levi Harn of Immokalee, age 40, died Tuesday, January 6, 2004, at Naples Community Hospital in Naples. She was born in West Palm Beach.
She leaves behind her mother, Gwen Green and stepfather, Glen Green; sisters: Rachael Patterson, Misty Patterson; brother, Leslie Harn and stepbrother, Charles Green.
The service was held at 10 a.m. January 10, 2004 at Friendship Baptist Church with burial at Lake Trafford Memorial Gardens. Pastor Richard Heers officiated.
Brister Funeral Home in Immokalee was in charge of arrangements.
John "Buddy" Burton Malcolm, Jr.
John "Buddy" Burton Malcolm, Jr., age 73, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Raulerson Hospital. Born Dec. 19, 1930, in Miami, Mr. Malcolm had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1980. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was decorated with the Purple Heart and two battle stars. He worked in Miami for 22 years managing a parking garage. Mr. Malcolm worked for the DOT in Okeechobee until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed salt water fishing in the Florida Keys and loved feeding birds and squirrels at his home in Okeechobee.
Survivors include: his beloved wife of 42 years, Vickie Sue Malcolm of Okeechobee; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Anna Kuntzman of Ft. Pierce.
There will be no visitation or services.

Pauline Robertson
Pauline Robertson, age 67, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, in Okeechobee. Born Aug. 4, 1936, in Smith Branch, Ky., Ms. Robertson had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1974. She was a faithful member and avid attendee of the Church of God. Her hobbies included writing songs, singing, sewing and visiting the elderly.
Survivors include: two sons, Rev. David (Linda) Robertson of Okeechobee and Wayne Robertson of Richmond, Ky.; three daughters, Paulette (Terry) Adams of Anchor Point, Alaska, Glenecia L. (Robert) Parkinson of Boynton Beach, and Paula Robertson of Okeechobee; four grandsons, Matthew Kennedy of Columbus, Ohio, Marc Kennedy of Anchorage, Alaska, Roland Kennedy of Homer, Alaska and Joshua Robertson of Okeechobee; three granddaughters, Crystal Prescott, Heidi Ebeling and Riley Brittingham, all of Okeechobee; five great grandchildren; brothers, Thomas Herbert (Kay) Barney and Thurman Barney of Raceland, Ky., Herman (Faye) Barney of Galion, Ohio, Henry (Nanda) Barney, Jr., of Lloyd, Ky., Paul (Melva) Barney, James (Miriam) Barney and John (Shirley) Barney, all of Zephyrhills; sisters, Bernice Tolliver of Greenup, Ky. and Eva Mac Arthur of Frankfort, Ky.; and, former husband, Ernest Robertson of Okeechobee.

Owen "Bud" Walter Lockwood
Owen "Bud" Walter Lockwood, age 86, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Raulerson Hospital. Born July 26, 1917, in Peach Grove, Ohio, Mr. Lockwood had been a resident of Jensen Beach before moving to Okeechobee in 1980. He was a member of the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include: his beloved companion, Virginia Maitix of Okeechobee; two sons, Louis O. (Myra) Lockwood of Harrison, Ohio and Harold A. Lockwood of Palm City; one daughter, Sarah (Tim) Odell of Fort Pierce; four grandsons, Michael Lockwood of Champaign, Ill., John Stephens, Matthew Stephens and Philip Stephens, all of Fort Pierce; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Lockwood of Lawrenceberg, Ind.; one brother, Ray O. (Phyllis) Lockwood of Merritt Island; one sister, Flora Roudebush of Kingsport, Tenn.; and, several nieces and nephews.

Jean M. Pelesky
Jean M. Pelesky, age 73, of Buckhead Ridge, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at her residence.
Mrs. Pelesky was born Nov. 19, 1928, in Piscataway Township, N.J., the daughter of Teofil and Josephine (Tworek) Ostrowski.. Mrs. Pelesky came to Buckhead Ridge from New Jersey in 1983. She worked in food service for Wal-Mart.
She is survived by a daughter, Kim Austin of Carteret, N.J., a brother, Albert E. Ostrowski of Richmond, VA, and a sister, Stella Clebock of Toms River, N.J.
No funeral services are being held.
