Paul Michelz
Paul Howard Michelz, age 48, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart. He was born Nov. 4, 1955, in Yale, Mich. to Stephen and Marjorie Michelz. Mr. Michelz came to Okeechobee from Yale in 1976. He was a construction worker. He was a great family man, wonderful husband and father who loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting.
Mr. Michelz was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Marjorie and his brothers Michael and Mark Michelz.
Survivors include: wife, Christina J. Michelz of Okeechobee; two sons, David (Brenda) Michelz of Hollywood and Preston Michelz of Okeechobee; sisters, Anne (Clyde) Gibson of Yale, Mich., Sister Mary of Frankfort, Ky., Katie Simpson of Okeechobee, Jane (Mike) Osier of Yale, Mich., Margie (Martin) Dalton of Yale, Mich., Christine Charles of Lapeer, Mich., and Florence (David) Mortimer of Sandusky, Mich.; brothers, Stephen (Carolyn) Michelz of Waterford, Mich., Joseph Michelz of Yale, Mich., Peter (Paulette) Michelz of Yale, Mich.; one grandson, Darien; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the pier at Lock 7 on Friday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. with Pastor David San Martin from Resurrection Life World Outreach Church officiating.
Memorials may be made to the family in Okeechobee.

Erasto Ochoa Jr.
Erasto Ochoa Jr., age 51, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at his residence. Born on July 7, 1952, in Mercedes, Texas. Mr. Ochoa has been a resident of this area most of his life and is of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include: his sons, Guadalupe Ochoa, Erasto Ochoa III, and Erik Ochoa, all of Cairo, Ga.; daughter, Jessica Ochoa of Columbus, S.C.; six grandchildren and brothers, Efrain, Edgar, Eliazar, Elmer and Erio Ochoa all of Okeechobee; sisters, Elma Maldonado of Delray, Elia Ochoa, Elva Ochoa, Elda Ganzerez (Armando), Estella Ochoa, Elizabeth Ochoa all of Okeechobee, and Juanita Ochoa Of Brownsville, Texas; and 186 nieces and nephews.
Friends may call the Buxton Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 9 until service time at 10 a.m.. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Marvin H. Parrish Jr.
Marvin H. Parrish Jr., age 71, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at Hope Hospice of Cape Coral.
Born May 11, 1930, in Augusta County, Va., Mr. Parrish moved to Okeechobee in 1960 from Ft. Defiance, Va. He was a former dairyman in Virginia and owner of Parrish Septic Tank Service in Okeechobee during his retirement. He received Outstanding Farmer and Conservation awards when he owned and operated Pinetop Dairy in Augusta, VA.
He traveled extensively and was a member of Florida Flywheel and Antique Engine Club. Mr. Parrish was a member of the Laurel Hill Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by: his parents, Marvin H. Sr. and Gertrude (Batten) Parrish and brothers, Howard and Sidney Parrish.
Survivors include: his wife of 51 years, Jean Wiseman Parrish of Okeechobee; son, Steven Thomas (Joy) of Okeechobee; brother, Lucian Parrish; and his sister, Mae Parrish Flavin of Staunton, VA.
Funeral arrangements are made by Fred Henry Funeral Home in Staunton, VA.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice of Fort Myers, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Fort Myers, Fl. 33908.

Gladys Mildred Rabey
Gladys Mildred Rabey, age 88, Of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at her residence. Born August 24, 1913, in Plesant Ridge, Ark., Mrs. Rabey had been a resident of Okeechobee since November of 1992.
Preceded in death by: her husband, William Hyle Rabey and sons, Billy Gene Rabey and Milton Rabey.
Survivors include: one daughter, Wanda (Steve) Metzger of Okeechobee; three sons, Douglas Rabey of Coosbay, Ore., Junior Rabey of Knox, Ind. and Jerry Rabey of Hayti, Mo.; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several great great-grandchildren; and brothers, Lonnie Carr and Lynn Carr of Heber Springs, Ark.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, from 5 until 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in Leachville, Ark., under the direction of Howard Funeral Home. Interment will be in Manila Cemetery in Manica, Arkansas.

Robert O. Smith
Robert O. Smith, age 75, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, November 29, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born November 19, 1926, to Roman and Monica (Sorg) Smith in Hessen Cassel, Ind., Mr. Smith had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1988, and previously resided in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was affiliated with the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post #64 and the BHR Moose Lodge #2417 and Catholic Order of Foresters.
Preceded in death by: brother, Joseph B. Smith and his parents, Roman and Monica (Sorg) Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years Florence (Offerle) Smith of Okeechobee, his sister, Sister Julienne Smith of Fort Wayne, Ind., survives him.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, from 9 until 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Duffy officiating.
Funeral Mass to be held Dec. 1, following visitation, at 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment to follow at a later date in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Memorials to be sent to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Walter D. VanScoten Sr.
Walter D. VanScoten Sr., age 60, of Okeechobee, formerly of Warren Glen, N.J., died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, in Broadway, N.J. Born Sept. 30, 1941, in Phillipsburg, N.J., Mr. VanScoten was the owner/operator of his own trucking firm in Okeechobee. He was previously employed with Local 825 Operator Engineers in New Jersey, member of A.B.A.T.E., a motorcycle organization in Florida and he was a motorcycle enthusiast.
Survivors include: children; Sheri Valley of Moore Township, Pa., Staci VanScoten of Easton, Pa., John VanScoten of Alpha, N.J., Walter D. Van Scoten Jr., of Easton, Pa.; six grandchildren; his parents, John S. VanScoten and Marion Richline VanScoten of Okeechobee; brothers and sisters, Dallas VanScoten of Gainesville, Ga., Dennis VanScoten of Effort, Pa., Sandra Gercie of Warren Glen, N.J., Robert VanScoten of Holland Township, N.J. and Barry VanScoten of Broadway, N.J.; also surviving him is numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Thursday, Nov. 29, at the Finegan Funeral Home in Alpha, N.J.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 30, 2001,at 11 a.m. at the Finegan Funeral Home in Alpha, N.J. Interment to follow in the Montana Cemetery, Harmony Township, N.J.

Vincent Larry Hetrick
Vincent Larry Hetrick, age 47, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at his residence. Born Jan. 13, 1954, in New Kensington, Pa., Mr. Hetrick had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1965. He was a member of AmVets.
Preceded in death by: his father, Vincent James Hetrick.
Survivors include: his mother, Rita M. Hetrick of Okeechobee; son, Vincent Michael Hetrick of Okeechobee; daughter, Kristine Hetrick of Coral Springs; six grandchildren and devoted companion, Susan Sullivan of Okeechobee.
There will be no visitation or services.

Jane B. Gannon
Jane B. Gannon, age 76, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at her residence. Born Dec. 7, 1924, in Pratt, Kan., Mrs. Gannon had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1973. She was a member of the 10539 VFW Auxiliary in Okeechobee and the United Methodist Women's Auxiliary in Mechanicsburg, Ohio. She attended the First United Methodist Church of Okeechobee.
Survivors include: her devoted husband of 56 years, Edwin B. Gannon of Okeechobee; one son, James B. (Maureen) Gannon of Findlay, Ohio; three daughters, Jane G. Perry of Suffolk, Va., Eleanor G. (William) Runyan of Millersburg, Ohio and Mary Margaret (Bruce) Belvin of Jupiter; three grandsons, William Perry of Suffolk, Va., Shane Belvin of Killeen, Texas and Grant Gannon of Findlay, Ohio; six granddaughters, Christine Belvin of West Hartford, Conn., Amy Patterson and Erin Runyon of Millersburg, Ohio, Addie Gannon, Lauren Gannon and Meghan Gannon of Findlay, Ohio; and one brother, Ben Bennett of Muncie, Ind.
Funeral service and interment will be held in Mechanicsburg, Ohio and is under the direction of Skillman-MacDonald Funeral Home, 257 W. Main, Mechanicsburg, Ohio.

Jeffrey Dean Hinebaugh, Jr.
Jeffrey Dean Hinebaugh, Jr., age 23, of Okeechobee and Brighton, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003. Born Oct. 9, 1980, in Vero Beach, Mr. Hinebaugh attended kindergarten through sixth grade in LaBelle and seventh through 12th grades in Moore Haven. Mr. Hinebaugh was employed as an assistant foreman in the construction business. Mr. Hinebaugh was a member of the Cowboys for Christ and the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys. His hobbies were working cows, hunting, fishing, air-boating, eating and aggravating his brother.
Mr. Hinebaugh was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jack Hinebaugh.
Survivors include: his mother, Tara Hudson Johns and "Daddy" Billy Joe Johns of Brighton; father, Jeffrey Dean Hinebaugh, Sr. of Ft. Pierce; brother, Jobe Johns of Brighton; sisters, Stephanie Johns of Brighton and Casey Hinebaugh of Ft. Pierce; grandparents, Jack and Mer Hudson of Okeechobee and Helen Hinebaugh of Ft. Pierce; his love and special friend, Erica Cherry of Okeechobee; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 30 from 4 until 7 p.m. Graveside funeral services and interment will be conducted on Monday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. at Ortona Cemetery in Ortona. Rev. Randy Johnson, Reverend of Reality Ranch Zolpho Springs will officiate.

Kurt L. Bostrom
Kurt L. Bostrom, age 74, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital.
Born April 8, 1927, in Finland, Mr. Bostrom, formerly of Muskegon, Mich., and Homestead, had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1992. He was a member of the Oakview Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 46 years, Betty Bostrom of Okeechobee; and, one sister, Nadine Lunden of Muskegon, Mich.
A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. at the Ancient Oaks Club House, 6407 U.S. Hwy. 441 S.E., with Rev. Dr. John Keith, Pastor of Oakview Baptist Church, officiating.

Kurt L. Bostrom
Kurt L. Bostrom, age 74, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital.
Born April 8, 1927, in Finland, Mr. Bostrom, formerly of Muskegon, Mich., and Homestead, had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1992. He was a member of the Oakview Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 46 years, Betty Bostrom of Okeechobee; and, one sister, Nadine Lunden of Muskegon, Mich.

John W. Stecki
John W. Stecki, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003. Mr. Stecki was a staff member at Dunklin Memorial Camp in Okeechobee for the past 13 years.
Survivors include: his Aunt Mary Keesler of Hamilton, Ind.; cousins, Steve Keesler of Hamilton, Ind., Jim Keesler of Labrange, Ind., Joe Keesler of Murray, Ky. and Harry Hequmbourg of Ft. Meyers; devoted friends Terry and Carlene Lewis of Jupiter; and, loving family at Dunklin Memorial Camp.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m., at the Dunklin Memorial Church, Hwy. 714 in Martin County.
