Melvin Lester 'Wild Bill' Sizemore
Melvin Lester 'Wild Bill' Sizemore, 76, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Columbia Raulerson Hospital.
Mr. Sizemore was born Nov. 27, 1924, in Gary, Ind. Mr. Sizemore, formerly of Fort Lauderdale, had lived in Okeechobee since 1984.
He was preceded in death by his half brother, William Sizemore.
Survivors include: his son, Mike Sizemore of Okeechobee; six daughters, Debra (Carl) Jastrzembski of Coral Springs, Linda (Jim) Campbell of Margate, Sharon (Kelly) Sizemore of New Port Richie, Robin (George) Manon of North Fort Myers, Denise (Mark) Large and Patricia Sizemore, of Okeechobee; 15 grandchildren; and, one great-grandchild.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Bertha Isabella Thackeray
Bertha Isabella Thackeray, 78, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at her residence.
Born July 11, 1923, in Woodside, Ill., Mrs. Thackeray was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thackeray.
Survivors include: one niece, Doris Jean Landis; and, beloved friends and caretakers, Terry and Gene Johnson, and Zelda and Mollie Rose Raulerson of Okeechobee.
Visitation will be in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, from 6 until 7 p.m. with a rosary to be conducted at 7 p.m.
All arrangements are under the direction of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Florence E. Smith
Florence E. Smith, age 81, of Okeechobee, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at her residence. Born Jan. 3, 1922 in Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Smith had been a resident of Okeechobee for 18 years.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Robert O. Smith.
Survivors include: one brother, Robert (Luella) Offerle of Fort Wayne, Ind.; sister-in-law, Sister Julian Smith of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and, several nieces and nephews. Additionally, she is survived by her caregivers, Denny and Carolyn Holerger and Scott and Shonna Mitchem, all of Okeechobee.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

John Joshua Carnahan
John Joshua Carnahan, age 75, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at his residence. Born Nov. 15, 1928, in Butler County, Mo., Mr. Carnahan had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1988. He was a member of the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include: his beloved wife of 53 years, Betty Lou Carnahan of Okeechobee; daughter, Nancy (Keith) VanGennip of Brandon; brother, Paul Carnahan; and, sisters, Maymie Campbell and Lorene Kearbey, all of Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Funeral services and interment will be in Malden, Mo., under the direction of the Landess Funeral Home.
Local arrangements were under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Ann R. Cyr
Ann R. Cyr, age 65, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart. Born March 14, 1938, in Bristol, Conn., Mrs. Cyr had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1993. She was a member of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church and the Women's Guild of St. Teresa. She enjoyed her grandchildren, knitting, crocheting and cooking.
Survivors include: her husband of 46 years, Xavier Cyr of Okeechobee; son, Michael (Kathryn) A. Cyr of Moodus, Conn.; daughters, Dianne (Larry) Webster of Farmington, Conn., Linda (Stephen) C. Smith of Nashua, N.Y. and Joan (Steven) Colapietro of Torrington, Conn.; eight grandchildren; brother, Gerald (Lois) Robillard of Titusville; and, sister, Elaine (Roger) Duval of St. Petersburg.
A memorial mass will be conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 8:30 a.m., at St. Teresa of the Child Jesus, 123 Chobee Loop N.E. in Buckhead Ridge. Father Esteban Soy will officiate.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Henrietta L. Viens
Henrietta L. Viens, age 89, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at her residence. Born May 13, 1914, in Georgia, Vt., Miss Viens, after wintering here for many years, had made Okeechobee her permanent residence in 2000. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include: three sisters, Lorraine Mroczek and Kathleen Comodo, both of Okeechobee and Alice Cashen of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Paul Viens of Colchester, Vt. and Noel (Pat) Viens of Winooski, Vt.; and, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003 starting at 9:15 a.m., until funeral service mass at 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 701 S.W. Sixth St. Father Hugh Duffy will officiate and interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Kirby G. Hall
Kirby G. Hall, age 78, of Buckhead Ridge, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born on July 13, 1923, in Brighton, Mich., to Gene and Clara (Webb) Hall, Mr. Hall was an inspector for General Electric until his retirement. He moved to Okeechobee from Ann Arbor, Mich., in 1991. Mr. Hall was a life member of the American Legion in Michigan, a member of the Moose Lodge in Buckhead Ridge and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Survivors include: his companion in life, Violet Bachman of Buckhead Ridge; two sons, Carl Hall of Virginia. and Kim King of Brighton, Mich; his sister, Ruth Green of Mississippi. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive him.
A memorial service will be held in Brighton, Mich. at a later date with interment at Fairview Cemetery, Brighton, Mich.
All arrangements are entrusted to the Bass Funeral Home.

Mattie King Puckett
Mattie King Puckett, age 92, died Thursday Nov. 13, 2003. She was born in Cartersville, Ga. and grew up in Tifton Ga., where she married James W. Puckett and started a family. She moved to Fort Lauderdale in the 1930's and spent most of her adult life there before moving to Okeechobee with her daughter's family in 1972. Mrs. Puckett spent many years assisting winter visitors at the family's business, Crystal Lakes R.V. Resort (now known as KOA) before it was sold in 1983. Afterward, she enjoyed 15 wonderful years greeting everyone, young and old, who visited the old Wal-Mart.
Mrs. Puckett had four children, the late James W. Puckett, Jr. (Pat) of Fort Lauderdale, B.J. Pipher (Pete) of Viera, and the late Alice Madray (late Herbert) of Okeechobee, and Charles Puckett (Gwen) of Viera.
She had 11 grandchildren, Judy Cutaway (Spence) of Ocala, Cathi Melton (Hal) of Winter Park, Marcia Dugan of Texas, Sharon Madray of Okeechobee, Shelly Madray Sickels (Rick) of Okeechobee, Steve Madray (Connie) of Avon Park, Stan Madray of Orlando, John Puckett (Candy) of Viera, David Puckett of Viera, Jimmy Puckett of Fort Lauderdale, and the late Julie Puckett of California.
Mrs. Puckett also had 20 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed by all.
Visitation will be held from 1 until 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, and funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Tifton, Ga. All Arrangements are under the loving care and direction of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Arlene Tungate
Arlene Tungate, age 77, of Kendallville, Ind., died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003. She was born June 12, 1926, the daughter of John and Ethel (Grossman) Goudy in Kendallville, Ind. Mrs. Tungate and her husband Horace were the former owners of the Prairie Schooner in Prairieville, Mich. While living in Ancorage, Alaska she operated a foster care home, where she cared for children and over fifty were adopted to families while living at her home. She worked for over thirty years at the flea market in Okeechobee where she bought and sold antiques. She was a former member of the Delton V.F.W. Auxiliary, the American Legion Post 484 Auxiliary in Hickory Corners and a member of the Moose Lodge. Known by her grandchildren as "Blue Jean Grandma" , she will be missed.
Survivors include: daughter, Nancy Stout and her significant other Don Sergeant of Walnut, Ill,; a son, Dennis Stout and his significant other Vickey Dupler of Naples; a brother, Lester "Sam" Goudy of Otsego, Mich.; a sister, Janet (Ron) Stout of Crossville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Lynnette Conner, Laurie Aspinall, Lisa Fox and Troy Clark; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, from 5 until 8 p.m. at William-Gores Funeral Home, Delton, Mich.
Funeral and committal services will be conducted on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Len Davis, officiating. Interment will be at East Hickory Corners Cemetery.

James L.D. Parker Sr.
James L.D. Parker Sr., age 68, of Plantersville, Ala., died Oct. 13, 2001, at the Veteran's Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. Born Oct. 23, 1932, in Bibb County, Ala., Mr. Parker was a dredger by trade, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Okeechobee. Mr. Parker moved to Plantersville, Ala. after retiring and was also resident of Okeechobee for many years.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Parker and father, James Eutaw Parker.
Survivors include: his wife, Frances Parker of Okeechobee; son, James L.D. Parker Jr. of Sebring; daughter, Wonda Woodham of Okeechobee; mother, Lula Mae Smith of Georgia; six brothers, Buford and Fred of Okeechobee, John, King and Roy of Georgia and Thomas of Alabama; four sisters, Mary Lou Chandler, Sally Williams and Bernice Judy, of Georgia and Evelyn Barns of West Virginia; also surviving him are four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Rocko Funeral Home Chapel in Centreville, Ala. Burial was held in Mathis Cemetery.
All arrangements were under the direction and care of the Rocko Funeral Home, Centreville, Ala.

Kirby G. Hall
Kirby G. Hall, age 78, of Buckhead Ridge, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Mary Lula Gray
Mary Lula Gray, age 68, of North Fort Myers, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, in Alva. Born Jan. 18, 1935, in Miami, Mrs. Gray was a former resident of Okeechobee. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church.
Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her husband, Estell Gray; and, son, Eston Gray, Jr.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Sue Duchow and her husband, Chuck of Arcadia and Deborah Lynn Robbins and her husband, Carl of North Fort Myers; three sons, Edward Carl Gray and his wife, Linda of North Fort Myers, Danny Eugene Gray and his wife, Pam and Dennis James Gray and his wife, Cindy, all of Alva; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and brother, Loren Deal and his wife, Blondie of Miami.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 15, from noon until funeral service time at 2 p.m. Reverend Arthur Mahler, senior pastor of Full Gospel Church in Paw Paw, Mich. will officiate and interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Reginald Thomas Bagwell
Reginald Thomas Bagwell, age 86, of Parkersley, Va, formerly of Leemont, Va., died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at Shore Memorial Hospital, Nassawadox, Va. Born in Bloxom, Va., to George and Rachel Lewis Bagwell, Mr. Bagwell was a carpenter by trade, a former Deacon at Shiloh Baptist Church and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He also served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.
Preceded in death by his brother, Estel Bagwell.
Survivors include: his children, James 'Snookie' Bagwell and Reny Taylor, both of Bloxum, Va., and Alisa Bagwell Durham of Okeechobee; step-daughter, Becky Rasmussen of Mappsville, Va.; 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and sister, Mae Parrish.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m., at Williams-Parksley Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Pattisall, Reverend Robert Carpenter and Reverend William Cathell officiating. Interment to follow in Parksley Cemetery, Parksley, Va.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, c/o Norma Godwin, P.O. Box 55, Bloxum, Va. 23308.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home, Va.

Brian Allen Gibson
Brian Allen Gibson, age 20, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001. Born May 31, 1981, in Homestead, Brian had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1989. He graduated from Okeechobee High School, Class of 1999.
Survivors include: his mother and stepfather, Gail and Bruce Kovac of Okeechobee; father, Mark Gibson of Dade County; two brothers, Brad Gibson and Mark Kovac of Okeechobee; maternal grandparents, Harold and Voncile Brannan of Homestead; maternal great-grandmother, Thelma Gaff of Homestead; paternal grandmother, Terry Kovac of Penrose, N.C.; paternal grandparents, Edythe and Darrell Gibson; and paternal great grandmother, Christina Martin of Ohio. Additionally, he is also survived by maternal aunt, uncle and cousins, Kim and Eric Anderson, Chris and Eric Jr., all of Franklin, N.C.; maternal uncle, Glenn Brannan of Woodbury, Tenn.; maternal aunt, uncle and cousins, Brad and Cindy Ebanks, April and Wade, all of Okeechobee; paternal aunts and uncles, Guy and Margaret Gibson, Matt Gibson, Darrell Gibson, Darren Gibson and Kathy Gibson; girlfriend, Alisha Whittington and best friend, Luiz Lerma of Okeechobee.
The family will receive friends at the Buxton Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, from 4 until 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Ted Underwood, Pastor of the Fort Pierce Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
