Selma "Ann" List
Selma "Ann" List, age 67, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at her residence. Born Feb. 1, 1936, in Miami, Mrs. List had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1986. She enjoyed people, never meeting a stranger and she loved shopping at flea markets.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Donald List.
Survivors include: her sons, Joseph (Cindi) Hasty of Lake Placid and Richard Hasty of Okeechobee; two daughters, Cindy (Bill) Smith of Bradenton and Tammy (Bentley) Belcher of Okeechobee; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Herbert Lanham of Inverness; and sister, Toni Phillips of Glenville, N.C. also survives her.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 14, at 7 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel. Private interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fl. 34973.
All arrangements have been under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
Kenneth Gilchrist Andrews
Kenneth Gilchrist Andrews, age 61, of Venice, formerly of Okeechobee, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Pinebrook Rehab and Nursing Center in Venice. Born Feb. 27, 1942, in Miami, the son of Gilchrist and Cleo M. (Crenshaw) Andrews. Mr. Andrews was a truck driver by trade and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
Survivors include: one son, Ken Andrews of North Carolina; two brothers, Charles E. Andrews and Chuck Andrews, both of Okeechobee; and one sister, Charlotte Steedley of Naples also survives him.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 12, at 4 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Joe Bishop, officiating.
All arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Edria Maria King
Edria Maria King, age 75, of Fort Pierce, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at her residence. Born Nov. 30, 1927, in Cullman, Ala., to Everett E. and Lois (Whaley) Sargent. Known as "Granny" to so many, she was the manager of Votino's Pizza Kitchen for over 30 years.
Preceded in death by her husband, Ernest James King, Sr.
Survivors include: her children, Linda (Young) Rucks, Jackie (Raymond) King, Betty (Darrell) Biggles, Ernest (Angela) King, Jr., all of Okeechobee, Judy Going and Sheila (Fred) Votino, Jr., of Ft. Pierce; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Joe Sargent of Alabama; sisters, Juanita Bearden of Georgia, Annah Smith of Okeechobee and Fannette Rogers of Kissimmee; and a host of friends in Okeechobee and Ft. Pierce.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 11, from 6 until 8 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 12, at 10 a.m., at the Bass Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Hospice.
All arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Dorothy M. Mather
Dorothy M. Mather, age 78, of Okeechobee, died May 30, 2003. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include: her husband, John H. Mather of Okeechobee; two sons, George Mather of Columbus, Ohio and Harold (Paula) Mather of Valrico; three daughters, Joyce L. Starky of Columbus, Ohio, Virginia (Jim) Castro of Canal Winchester, Ohio and Linda C. Mather of Fort Lauderdale; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren also survive her.
All arrangements were under the direction of Forest Lawn Cremation, Inc., of Port Charlotte.
C. Elzie Prescott
C. Elzie Prescott, age 88, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Mariner Healthcare of Atlantic Shores in Melbourne. Mr. Prescott was born May 9, 1915, in Kissimmee. Mr. Prescott worked as a heavy equipment operator until retirement. He later volunteered at Dunklin Memorial Camp and enjoyed travelling.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Beville Prescott.
Survivors include: two daughters, Sadie P. (Richard) Little of Morganton, Ga. and Joyce E. (Tom) Davis of Palm Bay; one son, Milton E. (Carolyn) Prescott of Interlachen; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hazel Coleman of Kissimmee also survives him.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 13, at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dunklin Memorial Camp, 3342 S.W. Hosanna Lane, Okeechobee, FL 34974.

William "Scottie" A. Scott, III
William "Scottie" A. Scott, III, age 60, of Okeechobee, died Monday, June 9, 2003, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce.
Born July 17, 1942, in Charleston, W.Va., Scottie had been a resident of Okeechobee for 10 years. He was the owner and operator of Scotties Cylinder Head and Engine Service. Scottie was a former professional drag racer for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, stock car racing, drag racing and antique tractors. He was a member of Florida Flywheelers Antique Engine Club.
Survivors include; his devoted wife of 19 years, Kathy Scott of Okeechobee; brother, Jeffrey (Marianna) Scott of Columbia, S.C.; nephews, Austin Scott and Patrick Scott of Columbia, S.C.; father-in-law, George O. Ningard of Port Clinton, Ohio; sister-in-law, Laura Mahlich of Amherst, Ohio; and nephew, Ken Mahlich of Vandalia, Ohio also survives him.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Friday, June 13, from 10 a.m. until funeral service time at noon. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Floyd Calvin Lewis
Floyd Calvin Lewis, age 51, of Jacksonville,N.C., died Wednesday, June 6, 2001.
Survivors include: his wife Becky Pearce Lewis, formerly of Okeechobee, two sons, Mark Lewis of Raleigh, N.C. and Jeff Lewis and his wife Kim of La Plata, Md.; his mother, Doris Graham Lewis of Fernandina Beach; three sisters, Diane Ansley of Afton, Va., Jeannie Baughman of Jacksonville, N.C. and Nancy Combs of Fernandina Beach.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 10, 2001, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville, N.C.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 11, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Enon Chapel Baptist Church Midway Park, N.C., with Reverend James Kelley officiating.
Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, N.C.
Donations may be made to the Enon Chapel Baptist Church benevolence fund, 102 Barbara Ave., Midway Park, N.C. 28544.

Robert Lee Tindall
Robert Lee Tindall, infant son of Deloan Tindall and Christina McCorts of Okeechobee, was born and died on Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring.
Preceded in death by his brother, Deloan Leroy Tindall, IV.
Survivors include: his parents; two sisters, Tracy Slusser and Katelyn McCorts; maternal grandparents, Dwight and Cathy McCorts; paternal grandfather, DeLoan Leroy Tindall, Jr.; paternal grandmother, Marion Sippert; paternal great-grandparents, Dave and Bessie Sheffield; paternal grandparents, Bobby and Alice Sippert, all of Okeechobee.
Graveside funeral services and interment were conducted on Friday, June 8, 2001, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Dr. John Keith, Pastor of Oakview Baptist Church, officiating.
All arrangements were under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
Claude M. Jones
Claude M. Jones, age 68, of Lorida died Sunday morning, June 8, 2003, at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring. Mr. Jones was a native of Wahalla, S.C. and had been a resident of Lorida for the past 30 years, coming from Okeechobee. He was self-employed as a meat cutter in his slaughterhouse, as well as a rancher. Claude was a member of the First Baptist Church in Basinger.
Survivors include: his wife, Eleanor L. (Parker) Jones; children, Edward (Teresa) Jones, Ella (Pat) Myers and Fran (Calvin) Turner, all of Lake Placid; three sisters, Rachael Frady of South Carolina, Winona Salone of Florida and Ann Kelley of Georgia; four brothers, John of Okeechobee, Rufus of Georgia, Ostelle of Georgia and Paul of Ft. Myers; grandchildren, Gary (Amy) Turner, Crocket (Monica) Turner, Brittany and Brandon Turner; and great-grandchildren, Chelsey and Bailey Turner also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, from 6 until 8 p.m., in the chapel of Scott Funeral Home.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 11, at Scott Funeral Home with a one-hour visitation prior to services. Serving as pallbearers are: Gary, Crocket and Calvin Turner, Pat Myers, Brandon, Chad, Tom and Matt Jones. Interment will follow services in Basinger Cemetery. Pastor Jesse H. Jones will officiate.
Arrangements are under the loving guidance of Scott Funeral Home in Lake Placid.
Zebbie Joe "Buddy" Usher, Sr.
Zebbie Joe "Buddy" Usher, Sr., age 86, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at his residence. Born Oct. 30, 1916, in Cardif, Ala., Mr. Usher had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1987. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Fairfield, Ala. and Okeechobee. His favorite pastime was fishing.
Survivors include: his devoted wife of 65 years, Beatrice Usher of Okeechobee; one son, Zebbie J. Usher, Jr. of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two daughters, Doris (Jack) Noble of San Antonio, Texas and Judy (John) Hale of Decatur, Ala.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harry (Catherine) Usher of Parrish, Ala. also survives him.
There will be no visitation or services.

Valda May Padgett
Valda May Padgett, age 95, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at Northside Health Care in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Mrs. Padgett was born March 28, 1906, in Island Grove, Florida. She was a former resident of Okeechobee, the daughter of John William and Emma Upthegrove. Mrs. Padgett was a member of the Pioneer Upthegrove Family that settled into Central and South Florida in the late 1800's. She was a retired Citrus packing house worker and a homemaker.
Preceded in death by: her husband, Dan Padgett and her daughters, Juanita Margaret DaCamara and Dorothy Vivian Hudson.
Survivors include: her daughters; Patricia Adams of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Emma "Lou" Tamm of Vero Beach and Virginia "Tootsie" Holdorff of Chipley; brother, R.N. Upthegrove of West Palm Beach; 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside Funeral services will be Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Kissimmee, with Pastor Timothy Sanders of Marianna Baptist Temple, Marianna, officiating.

Robert Lee Tindall

Janet E. Harden, age 53, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital. Born Dec. 1, 1949, in Manistique, Mich., Mrs. Harden was a homemaker.
Survivors include: her husband, Johnny Harden of Okeechobee; son, Herbert Towensend of North Carolina; two daughters, Jacki Gleif of Marquette, Mich., and Doreen Beachner of Escanaba, Mich.; stepchildren, Rebecca Tubbs, Michael Harden, Joshua Harden and Shiloh Harden, all of Okeechobee; two sisters, Delores Martin and Barbara Wenaas of Michigan; and one brother, Richard Bonham of Michigan.
There will be no visitation or services.
