Donald E. Crawford
Donald E. Crawford, age 78, of Arcanum, Ohio, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. Born June 12, 1924, in Fort Jefferson, Ohio. Mr. Crawford was retired from Chrysler Airtemp, he was also a farmer and a carpenter and after his retirement he worked at the Darke County Fair Grounds during the summer mowing. Mr. Crawford was a veteran of the Army Air Corp during World War II and a member of the American Legion in Greenville, Ohio and a member of the Fort Jefferson Church in Ohio.
Preceded in death by: his parents, Tom and Ruth (Seibert) Crawford; and sister, Mona Mong.
Survivors include: his wife of 59 years, Norma J. (Pretzman) Crawford of Arcanum, Ohio; two sons, Gary Crawford of Okeechobee and Neal (Diane) Crawford of Arcanum, Ohio; daughter, Connie (Phil) Watson of Tipp City, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Noelle and Steve Lamb Natalie and Brian Miller, Autumn and Todd Niswonger, Shane and Pauline Crawford, Ryan and Eudet Crawford; 14 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Totty Crawford also survives him.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 25, at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Jefferson, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fort Jefferson Church or Darke County Youth for Christ.
All arrangements have been under the care of the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Andrew Andela, Sr.
Andrew Andela, Sr., age 81, of Burlington Flats, N.Y., died May 15, 2001, at his daughter's home in Burlington Flats. He was born on March 21, 1920, in Clifton, N.J., the son of Nicholas and Jessie (Hamersma) Andela. In 1944, he married Catherine Zigterman of Prospect Park, N.J. She predeceased him in August, 1998.
He was a resident of New Jersey until his retirement. Since then, he has resided in Richfield Springs, N.Y., Burlington Flats, N.Y., and Okeechobee. For many years he was a self-employed contractor, and later worked for the Passaic (New Jersey) Parks Department. He was an active member of the Preakness Christian Reformed Church in Wayne, N.J., and after retirement a member of the Mohawk Reformed Church in Mohawk, N.Y.
Survivors include: two sons: Ronald of Unadilla Forks, N.Y. and Andrew of Flushing, N.Y.; two daughters: Ruth Yielding of Okeechobee and Kathleen DeJong of Burlington Flats, N.Y. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers; Richard and Walter and two sisters; Jane Appelo and Agnes Kuiken.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2001, at 10 a.m. at The Church on the Hill in Flushing, N.Y., after which his cremains will be interred in the Memorial Rose Garden at the church.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston, N.Y.

Pablo Escamilla
Pablo Escamilla, age 34, died February 12, 2001, in Beaumont, Texas. Pablo was born April 23, 1966, in Coahuila, Mexico.
He was a bouncer at Los Dos Compadres in Okeechobee, and returned to his homeland in Mexico in 2000.
Survivors include: his wife, Teresa Escamilla, of Beaumont, Texas; son, Pablo Escamilla, Jr. of Texas; his parents, Candelario and Paula Escamilla of Beaumont, grandparents, Maria DeJesus and Gerardo Escamilla of Mexico; brothers, Efrian (Hope), Candy, Abel and David, and Albert (Sussy), all of Texas; four sisters; Lorena Escamilla, Nancy (Ignacio) Lopez, all of Texas, Maria (Gustavo) Aguilar of Okeechobee, and Olga (Juan) Martinez of Fort Pierce. 12 nieces and nephews also survive him.
Place of burial was Live Oak Cemetery in Beaumont, Texas.
All arrangements were under the direction and care of the Calvary Mortuary, Beaumont, Texas.

Ruth S. Tomlinson
Ruth S. Tomlinson, age 78, of Okeechobee, died May 17, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital. Born Nov. 15, 1924, in Tampa, daughter of Robert L. and Mary Ruth (Seay) Thompson. Ms. Tomlinson was a waitress by trade.
Survivors include: her daughter, Wanda S. Williams of Camilla, Ga.; three sons, Carroll L. Thomas, Sr., Roy Thomas and James Thomas, of Okeechobee; sister, Louise Padgett of Tampa; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several great great-grandchildren also survive her.
Funeral services were conducted on May 20, at the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home Chapel, with Elma Hampton, officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements have been under the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Emma Upthegrove
Emma Upthegrove, age 94, of Lantana, died Monday, May 19, 2003.

Thelma G. Turner
Thelma G. Turner, age 93, of Winter Haven, formerly of Okeechobee, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Palm Garden of Winter Haven. Born on June 11, 1909, in Gloucester, N.J., the daughter of William Patrick and Bertha Bell Gilmore. Mrs. Turner moved to Winter Haven from Okeechobee in 1987 to be with her daughter. She was an administrative secretary in the judicial system, a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Gloucester City and the Trenton College of Industrial Arts. She also took one year of real estate law at Temple University and an extension course in human relations at Rutgers. She was a descendant of William Williams, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
Survivors include: her daughter, Thelma "Sue" Murphy of Winter Haven; and six grandchildren, Shawn Murphy, Kevin Murphy, Michelle Murphy, Chryl Murphy, Thanom Rafats and Maliwan Rafats.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 23, at 1 p.m., graveside, at Evergreen Cemetery, with Father Hugh Duffy, officiating.
All arrangements have been under the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Crematory.

Bobby G. Boswell
Bobby G. Boswell, age 67, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital.
He was born Aug. 1, 1935, in Sharpsburg, N.C., son of Burnell and Thelma (Brantley) Boswell. Mr. Boswell moved to Okeechobee 34 years ago from North Carolina. He owned Boswell Septic Tank Service.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty Boswell of Okeechobee; three daughters, Bonnie (Christopher) Mavorides of Okeechobee, Beverly (Jess) Hudson and Bobbie (Doug) Pollard, both of Carbonton, N.C.; one son, Brett Boswell of Okeechobee; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Billy (Peggy) Boswell of Rocky Mount, N.C.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, from 4 until 7 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 24, at 11 a.m., at the Okeechobee Missionary Baptist Church in Okeechobee with Rev. Lindell Selvey officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Nora Hebert Smith
Nora Hebert Smith, age 83, of Winter Garden, formerly of Okeechobee, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2003, in Winter Garden.
She was born July 29, 1919, in Orange, Texas to Frank and Mathilda (Jonice) Hebert. She was raised in Lake Charles, La., where her father was a commercial general contractor. She worked in a defense plant during World War II and later was a substitute teacher in several Florida counties. She married Louis C. Smith, Dec. 8, 1945, and moved to Florida immediately thereafter. They have been married 57 years. She was a graduate of St. Charles Academy in Lake Charles, La. class of 1936.
Nora was an excellent gourmet cook who read cookbooks like novels. She did beautiful detailed French embroidery and hand sewing that is nearly a lost art today. She was a strong woman who was proud to be a Cajun.
She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Winter Garden and was a member of the Eastern Star for many years.
Nora was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin R. Muffley.
Survivors include: her loving husband Louis C. "LC" Smith of Winter Garden; two daughters, Mathilda P. Bohanon of Sebring and Elizabeth S. Hendrick of Orlando; two grandchildren, Katherine H. Strong and David A. Hendrick, Jr.; one great-grandchild Hunter Lee Strong; two brothers, David Hebert and Herman Hebert; two sisters, Ruby H. Hagen and Frankie H. Moreau, all of Lake Charles and Ragley, La.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2003, from 4 until 7 p.m., at the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 24, at 11 a.m., at the Beulah Baptist Church, Winter Garden, with Pastor Steve Rice officiating. Interment will follow in the Winter Garden Cemetery
Arrangements are under the direction and loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.

Laurlene K. Mims
Laurlene K. Mims, age 54, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Jupiter Medical Center, Jupiter. Born Oct. 23, 1946, in Fort Pierce, Mrs. Mims was a lifetime resident of Okeechobee.
Survivors include: husband, Paul G. Mims, Jr., mother, Rennie Lee McClead, both of Okeechobee; son, Brad Mims of St. Cloud, father and stepmother; D.R. and Dannie Kilpatrick of Moore Haven; brother, Drayton Kilpatrick and wife, Betty of Chipley; sister, Ann Aiken and husband Cecil of LaBelle; step-sister, Glenda Lucey of Clewiston, and step-brother, Russell Kilpatrick of Moore Haven.
Funeral Services is Friday, May 18, at 10 a.m. at Grace Brethren Church, with Pastor Larry Zimmerman officiating.
Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

John M. Howell, Sr.
John M. Howell, Sr., age 54, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at his residence. Born May 6, 1947, in Portageville, Mo., Mr. Howell had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1955. He was a member of New Haven Ministries.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 31 years, Jeanette Howell of Okeechobee; two sons, John Michael Howell, Jr., of Okeechobee and Ronnie Glen Howell of Springfield, Mo.; three daughters, Sharry Lynn Kicklighter and Tammy L. Howell, both of Okeechobee and Patty Dalton of Neosho, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and three brothers, Charles Howell of Ocala, Billy Howell of Vassalboro, Maine and James Ray Victor of Kansas City, Mo.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Friday, May 18, 2001, from 4 to 6 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m. with Reverend David Burnie of New Haven Ministries, officiating.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Lois D. Mucherino
Lois D. Mucherino, age 75, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Hospice of the Treasure Coast, Inc. in Fort Pierce. Born July 10, 1927, in Bridgeport, Conn., Mrs. Mucherino had been a resident of Okeechobee for seven years. She was a professional barrel racer for 25 years and she loved horses, crafts and playing bingo. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Preceded in death by: her husband, Patsy E. Mucherino, Sr.; brother, Michael Sember; and sister, Mary Calzone.
Survivors include: three sons, Patsy E. Mucherino, Jr. (Bernadette) of Bridgeport, Conn., Edward L. Mucherino (Kim) of Okeechobee and Randy L. Mucherino (Lori) of Suttons Bay, Mich.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Carredu of Stratford, Conn., also survives her.
A memorial service wi11 be conducted on Monday, May 19, at 6 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Treasure Coast, Inc., P.O. Box 1748, Pt. Pierce, FL. 34954.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Mike Hall, Sr.
Mike Hall, Sr., age 51, of Brighton Seminole Indian Reservation in Okeechobee, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003. Born Dec. 27, 1951, in Okeechobee. Mr. Hall had been a lifetime resident of the reservation. He was a cattleman and a bullrider in rodeos.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jack C. Johnson and Sallie Mae Hall.
Survivors include: two sons, Mike Hall, Jr., and Johnnie Jackson of Okeechobee; two grandchildren, Mike Hall, III and Sabree Hall of Okeechobee; brother, Johnny Johnson of Miami; two sisters, Christine McBride and Virginia Thomas of Okeechobee; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, from 10 a.m. until noon, at the Buxton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 1 p.m., in Ortona Cemetery.
All arrangements have been under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

James B. Decker
James B. Decker, age 72, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital. Born Jan. 19, 1931, in Topeka, Kan., Mr. Decker had been a resident of Okeechobee for nine years. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a member and church elder with Peace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: his beloved wife of 51 years, Martha A. Decker of Okeechobee; two sons, Daniel (Elanore) Decker of San Antonio and Michael (Debra) Decker of Delray Beach; two daughters, Pamala Decker of Boynton Beach and Vici Decker of Athens, Ga.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Decker of Rosedale, Ark. and Paul Decker of Napa, Calif.; and one sister, Jane Sallee of Lawrence, Kan., also survives him.
A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, May 19, at noon, at the Peace Lutheran Church, 750 N.W. 23 Lane, Okeechobee, with Pastor John Hirst, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 1740 Broadway, New York, N.Y. 10019.
All arrangements have been under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
