John 'Curly' Douglas Campbell
John 'Curly' Douglas Campbell, age 49, of Kenansville, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002.
He was born Jan. 7, 1953, in Fort Pierce, Fla., to Charles M. and Barbara Anne Mitchell Campbell. He had been a lifetime resident of the Okeechobee/Kenansville area.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Kinsaul Campbell; one son, William Campbell; and two daughters, Amber and Erin Campbell, all of Kenansville. In addition, he is survived by his father Charles M. Campbell of Stuart, one sister, Barbara Anne Campbell of Stuart; one brother, Chip (Barbie) Campbell of Okeechobee; sister-in-law, Dinah (Tommy) Clay of Okeechobee; niece, Katie Clay; and nephews, Josh Clay and Chad Campbell, all of Okeechobee.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, from 4 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the former Oakview Baptist Church, 1735 S.W. 24th Ave. in Okeechobee, with Reverend Terall Roland of Dunklin Memorial Camp, officiating.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
Joseph "Joe" Julian, Jr.
Joseph "Joe" Julian, Jr., age 61, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at the V.A. Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Mr. Julian was born on Dec. 30, 1940, in Walterboro, S.C., the son of Joseph Elmer Julian Sr. and Margaret Sullivan Julian. He came to Okeechobee from Hialeah 32 years ago.
Mr. Julian was self-employed in the scrap metal business and was a veteran. He was a member of the Oakview Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Julian.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 43 years, Pat Julian of Okeechobee; sons, Jay (Robin) Julian, Thomas Julian, Robert (Toni) Julian and John Julian, all of Okeechobee; four grandchildren, Daniel, Colton, Jessica and Brook; sister, Betty (Al) Tunnell of Southport, N.C.; brother, Larry (Sue) Julian of Okeechobee; and numerous nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m. at the Oakview Baptist Church with Dr. John W. Keith, officiating. Interment to be held in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.
Joseph "Joe" Julian, Jr.
Joseph "Joe" Julian, Jr., age 61, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at the V.A. Medical Center in West Palm Beach.

Thomas M. Peer
Thomas M. Peer, age 91, of Perrysburg, Ohio, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, in Harborside of Perrysburg, Ohio.
Mr. Peer was a glassworker for L.O.F. for 42 years, retiring in 1973. His memberships included: St. Rose Church and its Holy Name Society; L.O.F. Credit Union, (now Glass City Federal), of which he was a former officer; Retiree's Club; L.O.F., Cullett and Rossford Senior Citizens.
Preceded in death by: brothers, Joseph, Steve and Richard; and sisters, Mary and Margaret.
Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Helen Marie; son, Thomas (Bonnie) Peer of Okeechobee; daughter, Jo Ann (Richard) Heyman of Findlay, Ohio; grandchildren, Nicole and Aaron; step-grandchildren, Tracy, Brian and Adrianna; nine great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; his brother, Michael (Gladys) Peer of Elmore, Ohio; sisters, Katherine Chetister of Rossford, Ohio and Agnes Floro of Toledo; sister-in-law, Marcella (Charles) Filer of Genoa, Ohio.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m., in St. Rose Church, Perrysburg, Ohio, where friends will be received after 10 a.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Rose Church, Hospice of N.W. Ohio or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 901 S.W. Sixth St., Okeechobee, Fla. 34972.

James M. Leggett
James M. Leggett, age 72, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital. He had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1991.
Preceded in death by his wife, Helen and brothers, Bobby and Norman.
Survivors include: one son, Wayne Leggett and his fiancee, Carol Jolly and her daughters; Lacosta and Angela Jolly of Okeechobee; two granddaughters, Carolyn Godwin and Virginia White; three great-grandchildren all of Okeechobee; four brothers, Talmage Leggett and Eugene Leggett of Patterson, Ga., Julian (Wanda) Leggett of Okeechobee and Ronald (June) Leggett of Augusta, Ga.; three sisters, Ivinell Strickland of Waycross, Ga., Faye (Travis) Weathers of Augusta, Ga. and Yevonne (Fred) Maltsberger of Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 28, from 1 until 2 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

William Richard Grigsby
William Richard Grigsby, age 69, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach.
Mr. Grigsby was born on Sept. 7, 1933, in Whitesburg, Tenn., and has been a resident of Okeechobee since 1982. He has devoted his life working within the field of agriculture and was a member of the Oakview Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school director and a member of the building committee.
Preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Robert Grigsby, Jr.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 39 years, Carolyn Grigsby of Okeechobee; one son, William R. (Marsha Thompson) Grigsby, Jr., of Lakeland; two sisters, Sarah Ellis of Renton, Wash., and Betty (William) Knodell of Georgetown, Texas; one brother, Sam F. Grigsby of Morristown, Tenn; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 4 until 7 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m., at the Oakview Baptist Church, with Pastor John Keith officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oakview Baptist Church Building Fund.

Daniel Daly Longwell, Sr.
Daniel Daly Longwell, Sr., age 64, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at his residence. Formerly of West Palm Beach, Mr. Longwell has been a resident of Okeechobee for two years.
Preceded in death by a brother, Robert.
Survivors include: his wife of 44 years, Peggy L. Longwell of Okeechobee; sons, Daniel Longwell, Jr., Johnny Ray (Elizabeth) Longwell and daughter, Kandi (Robert) Koedam, all of Okeechobee and daughters, Tina L. (Timothy) Woods of Plains, Ga. and Jennifer (John) Swanson of West Palm Beach; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Floyd (Cecile) Longwell of West Palm Beach, Roger Longwell of Athens, Ala., Jimmy Longwell of West Palm Beach, Alfred (Joyce) Longwell of Twin City, Ga.; sisters, Mary Colon of West Palm Beach, Barbara (Bob) Coleman of Alachua, Leona (Henry) Perreault of Ellenton and Helen Curl of Pace.
A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, Oct. 28, at 5 p.m., in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel.

Alex Eduardo Ramos
Alex Eduardo Ramos, age 8 months, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002.
Alex was born on March 8, 2002, in Fort Pierce, to Jose Luis Ramos and Maria Perez.
In addition to his parents, he is also survived by one brother, Johnny Ramos of Okeechobee; paternal grandparents, Luis and Guadalupe Liberato of Mexico; maternal grandparents, Alicia and Manuel Perez; paternal great grandfathers, Ephfanio Ramos and Francisco Liberato, both of Mexico; maternal great grandparents, Guadalupe and Leonides Rodriguez Campos of Mexico; uncles, Hector Perez of Okeechobee and Javier Martinez of Michigan, Danny Berry of Okeechobee, Augustin Saucedo and Ignacio Santos; aunts, Sandra Martinez of Michigan, Blanca Saucedo, Yesenia Perez and Adrianna Berry, all of Okeechobee.
Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m., until funeral service time at 11 a.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home, with Reverend Mike Ratliff of the Okeechobee Christian Church and Father Hernan Afanador, Church of Our Saviour, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Lonzie E. Hatcher
Lonzie E. Hatcher, age 78, of Chiefland, Florida, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, in Gainesville.
Mr. Hatcher was born in Hudson, Florida. He moved to Chiefland 20 years ago from Okeechobee. Mr. Hatcher served in the United States Navy as an electrician. He was a member of the American Legion in Okeechobee and of the VFW Post 5625. Mr. Hatcher loved fishing, gardening, Civil War re-inaction and museums and was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Eva Hatcher of Chiefland; two sons, John G. Hatcher of Keystone Heights and Phillip D. Hatcher of Jacksonville; daughter, Linda K. Toomey of Pensacola; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; brother, Zeno Hatcher of Chiefland; and sister, Eunice Christie of Hudson, also survives him.
There will be no visitation or services.

Bonnie Maxine Chambers
Bonnie Maxine Chambers, age 67, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at her residence.
Mrs. Chambers was born on May 29, 1935, in Haleyville, Ala. Mrs. Chambers had been a resident of Okeechobee for 15 years. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Stacey L. Chambers Roush.
Survivors include: her husband of 47 years, Wayne Chambers of Okeechobee; one son, Steve Wayne Chambers of Okeechobee; one granddaughter, Stacey Taylor Chambers of Okeechobee; two sisters, Pernie (Carl) Vines of Hueytown, Ala. and Maudie (Willard) Fredrick of Childersburg, Ala.
Graveside funeral service and interment will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m., with Austin Raulerson and Thomas Dees, officiating.

Ramelle Brewer
Ramelle Brewer, age 83, of Woodstock, Ga., died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Woodstock Nursing Home in Woodstock, Ga.
Mrs. Brewer was born on Oct. 14, 1919, in Milan, Tenn. She had resided in Pahokee from 1949 until 1996 and was a former midwife at the Pahokee Hospital, an excellent seamstress, cake decorator and loved crafts. Mrs. Brewer was of the Baptist faith.
Preceded in death by: her husband, Joe Farris Brewer; two daughters, Judy Kay Henderson and Linda Brewer.
Survivors include: three sons, Oscar Douglas of California, Joe (Debbie) Inman, of South Carolina and James (Marrian) Brewer of Woodstock, Ga.; two daughters, Margaret (Joe) White of Woodstock, Ga. and Glenda (Arthur) Kirchman of Colorado; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren also survive her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, from 7 until 9 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 9 a.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Port Mayaca Cemetery, Port Mayaca.

Farristean Richmond
Farristean Richmond, age 70, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, in Kissimmee.
Mrs. Richmond was born on Oct. 12, 1932, in Atmore, Ala., the daughter of Matthew and Louise Stuckey. She was a homemaker by trade.
Survivors include: four sons, William J. Adams, Sr. of St. Cloud, Donald Adams of Winterhaven, Geary Adams of Okeechobee, John Adams of Virginia; brother, Jerry Stuckey of Pensacola; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren also survive her.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m., at Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home with Pastor Ralph Crowell, officiating.

Brinda K. Johnson
Brinda K. Johnson, age 53, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mrs. Johnson was born on Jan. 26, 1949, in Parkin, Ark. She had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1963 and was a member of the Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Steve Johnson.
Survivors include: four sons, Michael Ray (Melanie) Smith of Paintlick, Ky., Mark Anthony Smith, Robert Brian Smith and William Robert Johnson, III, all of Okeechobee; mother, Lillie B. Johnson of Okeechobee; ten grandchildren; and five sisters, Etter Suraez of Edition, Ga., Pat Hickman, Ruby Evans and Judy Johnson, all of Okeechobee and Linda Gale Sutton of North Carolina.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 25, from 9 to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be conducted following visitation at 11 a.m. with Reverend Larry Kilgore of the Okeechobee Church of God, officiating.

Revis Sears Harrison
Revis Sears Harrison, age 79, of Buckhead Ridge, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mr. Harrison was born on Feb. 8, 1923, in Live Oak. He was formerly of Fort Lauderdale and Stuart, and had been a resident of Okeechobee for 15 years. Mr. Harrison served in the Merchant Marines and was a member of the Buckhead Ridge American Legion, VFW and Okeechobee Elks.
Survivors include: one son, Stanley (Doris) Harrison of Gobles, Mich.; two grandsons, Stanley (Yvette) Harrison of Portage, Mich., and Shawn Harrison of Gobles, Mich.; one granddaughter, Sherry (Tom) Salirigue of Middleville, Mich.; three great-grandsons, Allen Harrison and Daniel Harrison, both of Portage, Mich., and Mitchell Salirigue of Middleville, Mich.; two brothers, James (Norma) Harrison of Fort Lauderdale and Murle (Ann) Harrison of Ponte Vedra; and one sister, Novice Harrison of Midwest City, Okla.
There will be no visitation or services.
