Delmar C. Harer
Delmar C. Harer, age 79, of Okeechobee, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at his residence. Mr. Harer was born on June 19, 1923, in East Point, Pa., and had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1996. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in India, Burma and China. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, NRA and was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Harer retired from Sperry New Holland in 1984. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include: his beloved wife of 55 years, Ida L. Harer of Okeechobee; sister-in-law, Patricia Harer of Liberty, Pa.; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Mr. Harer was Pop Pop to Justin and Jared Morgan of Okeechobee.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 31, from 4 until funeral service time at 6 p.m. at the Buxton Funeral Home. Mike Bandi and Claude Poirier officiated.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in East Point, Pa.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Donald W. Graham
Donald W. Graham, age 72, died on Sunday, March 23, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee.
Mr. Graham was born on Feb. 26, 1931, in Scott County, Iowa, son of Forrest C. and Alpha Lenora (Florance) Graham. He was a police officer.
Survivors include: his wife, Jeanette Graham of Okeechobee; two daughters, Lynda Enns of Palm Beach Gardens and Vickie Buzzell of Davenport, Iowa; one son, Scott Graham of Davenport, Iowa; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation or services.
Arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Christopher Scannell
Christopher Scannell, age 47, of Fort Pierce, died Friday, March 21, 2003.
Mr. Scannell was born on Jan. 5, 1956, in Boston, Mass., and had been a resident of Fort Pierce for four years, coming from Okeechobee, where he lived for many years. Mr. Scannell was a grove worker for Egan Groves in Fort Pierce by trade.
Survivors include: one daughter, Kristen Hall of Harrison, Ariz.; and three sons, Stephen, Daniel and Byron Scannell, all of Amboy, Ind., also survives him.
There were no visitation or services held.
All arrangements have been under the direction of the Aycock Funeral Homes of Stuart.

John L. Braswell
John L. Braswell, age 58, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mr. Braswell was born on Jan. 19, 1945, in Wrightsville, Ga., son of Jesse and Mattie Dale (Lumpkin) Braswell. Mr. Braswell was a heavy equipment operator by trade. He came to Okeechobee from Jacksonville 39 years ago.
Survivors include: son, Johnny L. (Jennifer) Braswell of Okeechobee; stepson, Roger Clayton of Indiantown; four brothers, Lonnie Braswell of Okeechobee, Jesse Braswell, Don Braswell and Billy Braswell, all of Jacksonville; two sisters, Martha Braswell and Betty Jo Braswell, both of Jacksonville; and one grandson, Bret Herbst of Okeechobee also survives him.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, from 4 until 7 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 31, at 3 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Roger Clayton, officiating. Interment to be held in Fort Drum Cemetery.
All arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Linda Petro
Linda Petro, formerly Linda Roberts, age 55, died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee.
Preceded in death by: her daughter, Tia Marie Petro; her soul mate, Steven Petro; and her father, Charles J. Roberts, Sr.
Survivors include: her children, Tammy (Adam) Henshaw of Muscatine, Iowa, Tommy Wagoner of Sharpe, Robbie (Rita) Wagoner of LaFayette, Ga., and Terri (Donald) Ruth of Cocoa; grandchildren, Ryan, Amanda, Amy, Shantal, Justin, Dylan, Stephanie, David, Brandon, Steven and Christian; her mother, Hazel Roberts of Okeechobee; her sisters and brother, Brenda Brown, Jamee Brown, Sherri (Mitch) Daigle, Charles Roberts; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive her.
Mom, in tears we saw you sinking, watching as you faded away. Our hearts were broken. You fought so hard to stay. God saw you were tired, when a cure was not to be, so He closed you in His arms and whispered, "Come to Me." Your golden heart stopped beating; your gentle hand at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. But when we saw you sleeping, so peacefully free from pain, we could not wish you back, to suffer that again. We Love You.
A service to celebrate Linda's life will be held on Sunday, March 30, from 2 until 4 p.m. at the home of Mitch and Sherri Daigle, 12261 80 Lane N. in West Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her mother, Hazel Roberts.
All arrangements have been under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

R. Michael "Mikey" Brunning
R. Michael "Mikey" Brunning, age 48, of Indianapolis, Ind., died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis, Ind. Born March 3, 1953, in Indianapolis, Ind., Mr. Brunning worked in dispatch for Ameritech in Indianapolis for 23 years, and had also worked reservations for American TransAir and was terminal manager for AirWisconsin. He was a 1971 graduate of Roncalli High School in Indianapolis, Ind. and was a member of Ameritech Pioneers, Big Brothers, Communication workers of America Local No. 4900 and sons of American Legion.
Survivors include: his parents August H. "Gus" and Ernestine M. "Sandy" Brunning of Okeechobee; brother, Dennis J. Brunning of Okeechobee; one sister, Elizabeth Ann Hughes of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandmother, Elizabeth J. Shields of Moosehaven; three nieces; and, five nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 28, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the G.H. Herrman funeral home on Madison Avenue in Indianapolis, Ind.
Funeral service will be Thursday, March 29, at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and at 10 a.m. at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Beechgrove, Ind.

Richard C. Alguire
Richard C. Alguire, age 64, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, March 25, 2001. Born Nov. 27, 1936, in Watertown, N.Y., Mr. Alguire had been a resident of Okeechobee for eight years. He worked as a Harness Horseman in New York and Canada; enjoyed boating, golfing, motorcycling and as an avid hunter. Mr. Alguire was a member of the American Legion Post 64 in Okeechobee and was of the Episcopal Faith.
Preceded in death by his father, Ralph E. Alguire and brother Tommy F. Alguire.
Survivors include: his son, Corey Saur (Dana) of Taylor, Mich.; three daughters, Crystal Whitford (Jim) of Edwards, N.Y., Candice Hensler of Lynnwood, Wa., and Shelly Gladle of Lady Lake; mother, Ruth Alguire of Okeechobee; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; several step grandchildren; two sister, Deanna Daniels of Eaves (Kevin) of West Palm Beach and Shirley Steward (Jack) of Okeechobee.
A memorial service will be held at the Buxton Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 28, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Edward Weiss, Pastor of Church of Our Saviour Episcopal, officiating.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Oria Tripp Boyer
Oria Tripp Boyer, age 66, of Frostproof, died Monday, March 24, 2003, at Kindred Hospital in Tampa.
Mrs. Boyer was born on Sept. 9, 1936, in Basinger, a former resident of Okeechobee. Mrs. Boyer retired after 23 years as a secretary for Ben Hill Griffin, Inc. Most recently she worked at the Oyster Shanty at KOA RV Resort in Okeechobee.
Preceded in death by: her mother, Clara Sabo; and brother, Larue Tripp.
Survivors include: two daughters, Vicki (Cliff) Joiner of Okeechobee and Patricia Lawrence of Frostproof; three grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon and Burt; one great-grandchild, Austin; and three sisters also survive her.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 28, from noon until funeral service time at 1 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home. Reverend Noah Taylor, Pastor of North Okeechobee Church of God will officiate.
All arrangements have been under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Minnie Lou Lawton
Minnie Lou Lawton, age 40, of Okeechobee, died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Fort Pierce Health Care.
Miss Lawton was born on May 31, 1962, to Inez Lawton and Lloyd Price in Alexander, Ga. She has been a resident of Okeechobee since 1972, where she graduated from Okeechobee High School.
Preceded in death by: her daughter, Talicia Lawton; and grandson, Ja'Keem Lawton.
Survivors include: her mother and stepfather, Inez and Raymond Collins of Okeechobee; her father, Watson Lloyd Price of Augusta, Ga.; grandmother, Minnie Lawton of Savannah, Ga.; two daughters, Shalonda (William) Parker and Tacara Lawton, of Okeechobee; two sons, Cornelius (LeAnn) Lawton and Jarvis Lawton of Okeechobee; six sisters, Patricia (Calbreth) Waters, Sheila (Walter) Fowler, Diane (Vince) Rembert, Monica (Frank) Collins, all of Okeechobee, Anne Gail (John) Smith of Sylvania, Ga., and Marilet (Cleveland) Price of Augusta, Ga.; two brothers, Raymond (Erica) Collins and Marvis Collins, all of Okeechobee; one godson, Jeremy Cotton of Okeechobee; a dedicated niece, Someeka Rosier; and a host of nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends also survive her.
Friends may call on Friday, March 28, from 5 until 8 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home and on Saturday, March 29, from noon until funeral service time at the Hope Ministries Church of God, 1000 N.W. 14 Ave.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 29, at 1 p.m., at the Hope Ministries Church of God, with Pastor Kenneth Williams officiating. Interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements have been under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Irene Francis Hair
Irene Francis Hair, age 98, of Okeechobee, died Friday, March 21, 2003, at her residence.
A lifetime resident of Okeechobee, Mrs. Hair was born on Sept. 30, 1904, in Olney (Okeechobee County, north of Fort Drum). She was the daughter of James Tippen Padgett and Vandalia Ella Willis, some of the early pioneers of this area. Irene, one of 19 children (including the 12 children from Mr. Padgett's previous marriage to his deceased wife, Louisa Alvarez), was the last surviving member of that family. She was baptized on Nov. 18, 1938, and enjoyed the privilege of being one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She was preceded in death by her husband, General William Hair, Sr.; granddaughter, Cynthia Elaine Hair; and grandson, Gerald Franklin Hair, Jr.
Survivors include: four children, Rita H. Watts and General William Hair, Jr., both of Okeechobee, Gerald Franklin Hair, Sr. and Marie H. Roberts of Silver Springs; 20 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 18 great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Buxton Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 26, from 10 a.m. until funeral service time at 11 a.m., with John Chimiklis, an associate of The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Drum Cemetery in Okeechobee.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Donald W. Graham, age 72, died on Saturday, March 22, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee.

Charlotte Blair Taylor
Charlotte Blair Taylor, age 83, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at Florida Hospital in Sebring. Mrs. Taylor was born May 1, 1919, in Chattanooga, Tenn., and had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1988. She was a member of the Oakview Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She was an alumna from the University of Chattanooga and a member of Psi Zeta Sorority.
Survivors include: her beloved husband of 61 years, Sid B. Taylor of Okeechobee; one daughter, Cathy (Joe) Pearce of Okeechobee; two grandchildren, Charley (Greg) Gaughan of Camilla, Ga. and Jason (Cindy) Pearce of Okeechobee; four great-grandchildren, Aubrey Gaughan of Camilla, Ga., Michael Pearce, Josey Pearce and John Pearce, all of Okeechobee; and one nephew, Charles Bryan of Roswell, Ga.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 27, at 11 a.m., at Oakview Baptist Church, 677 S.W. 32nd Street, with Rev. Dr. John Keith, Pastor, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Psi Zeta Scholarship.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Martin Luther Messner
Martin Luther Messner, age 74, of Roaring Branch, Pa., died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee.
Mr. Messner was born on April 28, 1928, and had been a winter resident of Okeechobee for 23 years.
Survivors include: his devoted wife of 56 years, Gladys V. Messner of Roaring Branch, Pa.; three sons, Gary Lee Messner of Roaring Branch, Pa., Martin Ray Messner of Muncy, Pa., and James Alan Messner of Horseheads, N.Y.; two daughters, Beverly Anne Jaber of Shoshone, Idaho and Linda Jeanne Messner of Towanda, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lois Forer of Liberty, Pa., Dorothy Eves of Surprise, Ark., Elaine McNeilly of Harrisburg, Pa. and Martha Geisinger of Liberty, Pa.
There will be no local visitation or services. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Roaring Branch, Pa.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
