Eugenea Lanett White
Eugenea Lanett White, age 21, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, in Okeechobee.
She was born Aug. 28, 1981, in Pahokee, daughter of Lucille Collins. She was a bookkeeper at Big Lake National Bank. She was a graduate of the Okeechobee High School class of 1999. Genia was a lover of the outdoors. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Survivors include: her mother, Lucille White; sister, Lisa (Billy) Barton; brother, David (Lori) White, both of Okeechobee; grandparents, Janet Barton of Punta Gorda and David (Susan) White of Okeechobee; three nieces, Amber Barton, Aslan White and Niki White; and one nephew, Bill Barton.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, at 2 p.m., at Oakview Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Rice officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

William "Billy" I. Till, Jr.
William "Billy" I. Till, Jr., age 22, of Okeechobee, died March 23, 2003, in Okeechobee.
Mr. Till was born on June 9, 1980, in Orangeburg, S.C., son of the late William Irvin Till and Shirley (Williams) Till. He came to Okeechobee from Orangeburg, S.C. in 1985. Billy was a cowboy by trade.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Irvin Till, Sr.
Survivors include: his mother, Shirley Till of Okeechobee; one brother, Eric Till of Okeechobee; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26, from 4 until 7 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 27, at 11 a.m., at the Bass Funeral Home with Reverend Monroe Arnold officiating.
Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Vernice J. Ragsdale
Reverend Vernice J. Ragsdale, age 89, of Okeechobee, died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee.
Rev. Ragsdale, a retired Methodist minister, was born June 6, 1913, in Cullman County, Ala., and spent his youth in Tennessee. He worked in the fields as a youth and received his call into the ministry while working in the fields.
He served as minister in Webster from 1948 to 1953, in Cross City from 1953 to 1957, in Okeechobee from 1957 through 1965, in Matecumbe in 1965, in Starke from 1966 through 1968, in Debarry from 1968 through 1973, in St. Petersburg from 1973 through 1975, in Callahan from 1975 through 1977, and in Avon Park from 1977 through 1979, when he retired and moved back to Okeechobee. Later he filled in temporarily in Indiantown until they could get a permanent pastor. He also filled in from time to time at the First United Methodist Church in Okeechobee, when needed, following his retirement. His ministry after retirement was visiting the sick in the hospitals and nursing homes. This he did on a regular basis.
Survivors include: his wife, Corinne W. Ragsdale of Okeechobee; two sisters, Velma Ragsdale of Whitecloud, Mich. and Thelma Barbour of Bruceton, Tenn.; two sons, Dr. Denny (Frances Jane) Ragsdale of Melbourne and Reverend Dural (Denise) Ragsdale of Macon, Miss.; two step-daughters, Beth Gubler and Paula Williams; two step-sons, John (Clariece) Burdeshaw and Ben (Judy) Burdeshaw, all of Okeechobee; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home on Saturday, March 22, from 4 until 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Okeechobee on Sunday, March 23, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Florida United Methodist Children's Home, P. O. Box 6299, Deltona, FL 32728-9988.
All arrangements are entrusted to Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home in Okeechobee.

Hal Frederick "Fred" Hendee
Hal Frederick "Fred" Hendee, age 77, died on Tuesday, March 20, 2001. He was born on April 9, 1923 in Grand Rapids. Mr. Hendee owned and operated a construction company for 43 years, retiring in 1986, as well as farmed all his life. He enjoyed living in Florida, spending time on his boat and in his shop. He was a member of the Okeechobee, Florida Elks Club # 2558 and the Ionia Moose Lodge # 998.
Preceded in death by: his son, Jerry Foote; brothers, Wayne and Raymond; and sisters, Laura and Gayla.
Survivors include: his wife of 43 years, Mae; daughter Patricia (David) McGregor of Portland; son Donald (Billie) Foote of Ononadaga; daughter-in-law Janet Foote of Battle Creek; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother Robert (Barbara) Hendee of Portland; sister Arlene (Gerald) Thelen of Fowler; sister-in-law Dorothy Hendee of Park Ridge, Ill.; several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral service will be conducted by the Reverend Scott K. Otis, Pastor , at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2001 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland, with grave side services following at Portland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Portland V.F.W. Post # 4090 in memory of Hal F. "Fred" Hendee.

Merlin A. Rice
Merlin A. Rice, age 76, of Okeechobee, and formerly of Fort Wayne, Ind., died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter.
Mr. Rice was born Dec. 1, 1926, in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was a truck driver for Dailey Asphalt Co., president and business manager for Teamsters Union Local 297 and business manager for 4l4, retiring in 1986. Mr. Rice was a member of First Methodist Church in Okeechobee; International Brotherhood of Teamsters; Angola Elks Lodge 2398; Okeechobee Moose Lodge 1753; Okeechobee American Legion 64; Okeechobee Shrine Club; Fort Wayne Mizpah Temple; 32 Degree Mason Lodge 237; U.S. LST Association; Okeechobee County Democratic Party state committeeman; State of Democratic Party Vice Chair Small County Coalition; and vice chair 16th Congressional District. He also served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include: two daughters, Patricia J. Felver of South Whitley, Ind. and Trois A. (Dennie) Ray of Columbia City, Ind.; two sons, Merlin R. (Alice) Rice of Albion, Ind. and Jimmie A. (Cheryl) Rice of Columbia City, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, from 2 until 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8:30 p.m., at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail, Ft. Wayne, Ind. Visitation will also be one hour before services on Saturday, March 22.
A Masonic service will be held on Friday, March 21, at 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, at 11 a.m., at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home for Funerals, Ft. Wayne, Ind. Interment will be in Uniontown Cemetery in Yoder, Ind.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital.
All arrangements are entrusted to the Elzey Patterson Rodak Home for Funerals in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Richard Anthony Wesneski
Richard Anthony Wesneski, age 49, of Okeechobee, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at his residence. Born April 3, 1951, in Hartsford, Conn. Mr. Wesneski was an evaporator operator for the Ocean Spray, Inc.
He survived by his wife Susan Wesneski of Okeechobee.
Funeral services will be in Connecticut. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Collinsville, Conn.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

William H. Roberts Jr.
William H. Roberts Jr., age 76, of Brookville, Ind., died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born Nov. 18, 1924, in Brookville, Ind. Mr. Roberts owned rental property, was a veteran and has been a life long winter resident of Okeechobee.
He survived by his wife Betty L. Roberts of Brookville, Ind. (winter resident) and brother, Ernest Robert of Liberty, Ind.
Funeral services will be in Brookville, Ind. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville, Ind.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Norman Henry McMaster
Norman Henry McMaster, age 83, of Mikado, Mich., died Sunday, March 19, 2001, at his son's residence. Born July 26, 1917, in Gustin Township, Mich., Mr. McMaster had been a winter resident of Okeechobee for the past three years. He was a member of the Eagles in Barton City, Mich.
Survivors include: one son, Melvin (Faye) McMaster of Okeechobee; one grandson, Mark McMaster of Okeechobee; one granddaughter, Debra Magill of Canton, Mich.; two great-grandsons, Justin Magill of Canton, Mich., and Brett McMaster of Okeechobee; three great-granddaughters, Brittney McMaster of Okeechobee, Jennifer Magill and Jessica Magill of Canton, Mich; one brother, Wayne McMaster of Bradenton; and, one sister Lillian Smith of Mikado, Mich.
Funeral services and interment will take place in Mikado, Mich. and are under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, Mich.
All local arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Dallas Merle Enfinger
Dallas Merle Enfinger, age 72, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Enfinger was born Nov. 22, 1930, in Dothan, Ala. and had been a resident of Okeechobee since l968. He grew up in Plant City and joined the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean War. He attended Stetson University and taught at Miami Jackson High School and Okeechobee High School. Mr. Enfinger was an ordained minister and served as the Pastor for Eastside Baptist Church; Glendale Baptist Church in Vero Beach; and Northside Baptist Church. Reverend Enfinger served as Associate Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Okeechobee for nine years where he organized and implemented the bus ministry and started the Royal Ambassadors "RA" of the First Baptist Church. He was Interim Pastor for Treasure Island Baptist Church and in 1962 he organized the First Baptist Church in Big Pine Key.
Preceded in death by: his parents, Raleigh Dallas Enfinger and Lannie Deal Enfinger; and brother, James G. Enfinger.
Survivors include: his faithful and devoted wife of 49 years, Elsie Enfinger; son, Danny (Cindy) Enfinger of Okeechobee; daughter, Cindy (Billy J. Jr.) McCullers of Okeechobee; grandsons, Billy James McCullers III, Brian Matthew (Dina) McCullers, Daniel Luke Enfinger and Taylor Benjamin Enfinger, all of Okeechobee; granddaughters, Pamela Suzanne (Justin) Alexander of Orlando and Bethany LeAnn Enfinger of Okeechobee; two great-granddaughters, Sage Alexander and Angelia McCullers; two brothers, Raleigh (Dianne) Enfinger of Lutz and Billy (Lillian) Enfinger of Orlando; sister, Mary (Wade) Clark of Tifton, Ga.; and several beloved nieces and nephews also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, from 5 until 7 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 21, at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, 401 S.W. Fourth St. in Okeechobee, with Reverend Joe Bishop, Pastor of Fountain of Life Church and Reverend Richard E. Whipple, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, FL. 34973 or the First Baptist Church of Okeechobee Mission Outreach Program.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funera1 Home and Crematory.

Clarke Hugh Williams
Clarke Hugh Williams, age 69, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at his residence.
He was born on August 23, 1933, in St. Louis, Mo. Mr. Williams had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1994. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW and Buckhead Ridge Moose Lodge. Mr. Williams was a member of ABATE of Florida, HOG, Family Motor Coach of America, Overland Trailblazers, Palm Beach Gold Coasters and the Bluebird Club. He was the owner and operator of Clarke Williams Transport Company in Okeechobee. Mr. Williams also was a former yacht captain and personal aviator.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Rose Williams.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 45 years, Rose Marie Williams of Okeechobee; two sons, David (Diana) Williams of O'Fallon, Ill. and Douglas (Angela) Williams of Columbia, Ill.; one daughter, Kay F. (Duffy) Bechtel of Pinckneyville, Ill.; six grandsons; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Lavonne (Andy) Menzel of St. Louis, Mo. also survives him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 19, from 4 p.m. until funeral service time at 7 p.m. Memorial services will be conducted at a later date in Illinois.
The family has requested that casual attire be worn.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Eloise Miller
Eloise Miller, age 80, of Okeechobee and Ayden, N.C., died on March 16, 2003, at her residence in Ayden.
Mrs. Miller was a retired nurse with Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland, Md.
Survivors include: her husband, Richard E. Miller of Ayden, N.C. and Okeechobee; two daughters, Sandra N. (Michael) Crone of Copperas Cove, Texas and Helen L. (Eddie) Detrick of LaVale, Md.; two sons, Richard E. Miller, Jr. of Cresaptown, Md. and John W. (Tonja) Miller of Ayden, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, Michael Collins, Shari Collins, Heather Davis, Maria Meshell, Adam Miller, Brandon Miller, Cambria Clites, Joshua Detrick, Meghan Detrick, J. W. Miller and Alicia Miller; and four great-grandchildren, Stephanie Ritchie, Melissa Wilson, Jacqueline Lambert and Matthew Meshell also survive her.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 17, at the Farmer Funeral Home Service in Ayden, N.C.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, at 2 p.m., at the Farmer Funeral Home in Ayden.
Memorials may be given to University Health Systems Hospice Care, P.O. Box 30945, Greenville, N.C. 27833 or Buckhead Ridge Baptist Church, 8 Cypress Street, Okeechobee, Fla. 34974.

John Gordon Scott
John Gordon Scott, age 67, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at the VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Mr. Scott was born on April 6, 1935, in Butler County, Pa. He had been a resident of Okeechobee for five years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the VFW and the District 11 Quarter-Master.
Survivors include: his wife of 17 years, Iva Nell Scott of Okeechobee; stepsons, Gene Sandeen of West Palm Beach and Dennis Sandeen of Stuart; stepdaughters, Mitzi Miton of Okeechobee and Cindy Elsaser of Macon, Ga.; ten grandchildren; brothers, Phillip Scott of Okeechobee and David Scott of Pickerington, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Shirley Scott of West Palm Beach also survives him.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
