Ella Joyce Fiske
Ella Joyce Fiske, age 74, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Hospice of the Treasure Coast, Inc., in Fort Pierce.
Mrs. Fiske was born on Dec. 14, 1927, in Oglethorpe County, Ga. She had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1973.
Survivors include: her devoted husband of 29 years, Benjamin N. Fiske of Okeechobee; son, David Stuckey of Georgia; daughter, Lynn Rogers of West Palm Beach; two grandsons, Stanley Rogers of Fort Lauderdale and David Stuckey, Jr., of the Philippines; four granddaughters, Barbra Nabridge of Fort Lauderdale, Jenny Stuckey and Heather Stuckey, both of Georgia, and Daun Stuckey of the Philippines; two great-granddaughters, Shelby Rogers and Nicki Rogers, both of Fort Lauderdale; and great-grandson, Braxton Nabridge of Fort Lauderdale; one brother, Claude Harrison Culbertson, Jr., of West Virginia; and sister, Enid Steward of Georgia.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

James Benson Gurganious
James Benson Gurganious, age 64, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Gurganious was born on Dec. 5, 1937, in Leesburg and had been a resident of Okeechobee for 38 years.
He served in the U.S. Marines during peacetime in Japan and worked for 31 years for the U.S. Post Office. Mr. Gurganious enjoyed fishing, good food, his family and was a Florida Gators football fan. He was of the Jehovah's Witness faith.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Gina Grace Gurganious.
Survivors include: his wife of 42 years, Wanda Gurganious of Okeechobee; one son, Glenn G. (Pamela) Gurganious; two daughters, Ginger (Timothy) Durham and Jamie Kathleen Gurganious, all of Okeechobee; grandsons, Ryan James Gurganious of Lincolnton, N.C., Micah Gurganious, Gregory Tyler Gurganious, Justin Hobson, Logan Hobson, Dillon Hobson and Jesse Cole Durham, all of Okeechobee; one granddaughter, Jenna Nicole Durham of Okeechobee; and one sister, Esther Gurganious of Lake Charles, La.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Oct. 26, from noon until funeral service time at 1 p.m. at the Buxton Funeral Home, with Elder Gene Rainbow of Jehovah's Witness, officiating.
Private interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fla., 34973.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

John Lewis Baratta
John Lewis Baratta, age 71, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 16, 1931, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and had been a resident of Okeechobee for two years.
Mr. Baratta was a member of the Okeechobee American Legion, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Maria Baratta.
Survivors include: his wife, Gail Baratta of Okeechobee; one son, John (Wendy) Place; two daughters, Donna Moller and Cheryl (David) LaRue of Okeechobee; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one brother, Sal (Hilda) Baratta of Hyde Park, N.Y.
Visitation and graveside funeral services will be on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. Interment will follow.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Robert Leslie Revells
Robert Leslie Revells, age 86, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mr. Revells was born on Aug. 29, 1916, in Parrish, Fla. Mr. Revells had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1978 and was a member of the Treasure Island Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Frances Revells; daughter, Margaret Bader; and sister, Bertha Pope.
Survivors include: one son, Robert Eugene Revells of Okeechobee; two daughters, Carolyn McGrath of Nicasse Crossing, Miss., and Evelyn Irene Eskine of LaFitte, La.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Ebbie Sheffield of Pinecrest.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. until funeral service time at 10 a.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home. Interment and graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., at Keene Cemetery in Bunker Hill, Fla.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Nadine Raulerson Cherry
Nadine Raulerson Cherry, age 69, of Okeechobee, died on Oct. 17, 2002, in Coral Gables.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1932, in Okeechobee, the daughter of Ray and Pearl Gainey Raulerson.
She was a member of the Oakview Baptist Church and a cattlewoman pioneer in the cattle industry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe R. Cherry; and her parents, Ray and Pearl Raulerson.
Survivors include: two sons, Barney (Terry Lyn) Cherry; Bruce (Sandy) Cherry; daughter, Suzanne (Mark) Rucks; grandchildren; Jill (Doyle) Tyson, Amy (Adam) Monts De Oca, Erica Cherry, Kayla Cherry, Rachel Rucks, Russell Rucks, Katie Rucks; and great-grandson, Matt Tyson.
Visitation services will be held on Saturday, Oct.19, from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Oakview Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. at the Oakview Baptist Church with Reverend John Keith, officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oakview Baptist Church, Building Fund, 677 S.W. 32nd St., Okeechobee, Fla. 34974.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Bass Funeral Home.

Joe Back
Joe Back, age 64, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mr. Back was born on March 28, 1938, in Letcher, Ky. He had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1996.
Survivors include: his devoted wife of 43 years, Lucille Back of Okeechobee; son, Robert Dale of Williamsburg, Ohio; two daughters, Brenda Sue (Willie) Butts of Mt. Orab, Ohio, and Frances (Rick) Hall of Okeechobee; five grandsons, Donnie Lytle of Amelia, Ohio, Andrew Hall and Aaron Hall of Okeechobee, Brandon Back of Williamsburg, Ohio, and Jesse Lytle of Mt. Orab, Ohio; one granddaughter, Brittany Back of Willamsburg, Ohio; three brothers, Lee (Sarah) Back of Cincinnati, Ohio, Custer (Dean) Back of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Willie (Hazel) Back of Premium, Ky.; two sisters, Alma (Vincent) Eldridge of Somerset, Ky., and Laura (Darrell) Caudill of Monroe, Ohio.
Services and interment will take place in Mt. Orab, Ohio, under the direction of the Egbert Funeral Home.
All local arrangements have been under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Anthony G. Frank
Anthony G. Frank, age 24, of Okeechobee, died on Oct. 15, 2002, in Okeechobee.
Mr. Frank was born on June 14, 1978, in Fort Pierce. He was the son of James G. Frank and Glenn and Yvonne Lewis.
Survivors include: his father, James G. Frank of Las Vegas, Nev.; parents, Glenn and Yvonne Lewis of Okeechobee; daughter, Shiannah Frank of Okeechobee; grandparents, Williard and Katharine Lewis of Okeechobee; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 18, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Oct. 18, at 4 p.m. at the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Robertson, officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Bass Funeral Home.

Nandine Raulerson Cherry
Nandine Raulerson Cherry, age 69, of Okeechobee, died on Oct. 17, 2002, in Coral Gables.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1932, in Okeechobee, the daughter of Ray and Pearl Gainey Raulerson.

Ruth Hunt Hirst
Ruth Hunt Hirst, age 81, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at her residence.
She was born on March 17, 1921, in Trenton, N.J. Mrs. Hirst had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1986. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Eagles 4137 in Okeechobee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hirst; son, Robert Hirst; brother, Robert Hunt; and two sisters, Claire Nutt and Marian Tarr.
Survivors include: one son, James Hirst, and daughter Octavia Cross, both of Pompano Beach; grandchildren, Sarah Ann (Shaun) Baker and James Andrew Cross, both of Okeechobee; and Ashley Hirst of Plantation; one sister, Marjorie Daisley of Alvaton, Ky., and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Buxton Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m. until funeral service time at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Maria Milagros Santibanez
Maria Milagros Santibanez, infant twin daughter of Francisco Santibanez and Ventura Arroyo, was born and died on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, Florida.
In addition to her parents, survivors include: one brother, Armando Santinbanez; five sisters, Maria, Ana, Sonia, Fabina and Milagros Santibanez, all of Okeechobee; and a host of aunts and uncles also survive her.
A funeral mass will be conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 701 S.W. Sixth St., with Father High Duffy, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Garland D. 'Gill' Threadgill
Garland D. 'Gill' Threadgill, of Lee County, Miss., died on Oct. 5, 2002. He was 85 years old.
He was born in Tupelo, Miss., and had lived in Lake Worth, since 1949. He was a salesman. He was Protestant, and a member of the Amara Shrine, Masonic Order Shrine Crippled Children, Eastern Star, Hi 12 and FCRV National Campers. He was a supporter of the sheriff's association and loved fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Miriam 'Skip' Threadgill; son, Charles 'Andy' Threadgill (Cris) of Clewiston; sister, Sue Simpson (Bob) of Okeechobee; granddaughters, Carrie Threadgill (Jake H.) and Regina Jolly (Robbie) of Okeechobee, Caitlin and Christa Threadgill of Clewiston; grandson, Charles 'A.J.' Threadgill Jr. of Clewiston; great-granddaughters Lydia and Kelsey Rodriguez of Okeechobee; great-grandsons Robbie Jolly Jr, and Clayton Harris of Okeechobee.
Memorial services will take place at the Amara Temple, RCA Blvd., in Palm Beach Gardens on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at 1:30 p.m.; and, at Lake Worth Towers on Oct. 24 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amara Crippled Children's Transportation Fund, P.O. Box 30335, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. 33420; or, to Hospice of the Palm Beaches.

Vilda M. Yates
Vilda M. Yates, age 64, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Lawnwood Medical Center. She was a member of the Church of God and was born here in Okeechobee and was a lifetime resident.
Survivors include: her husband of 46 years, Justin Yates of Okeechobee; four sons, Marcus Yates of Okeechobee, Stanley Yates of Georgia, Dennis Yates of Highlands County, and Buddy Yates, Jr., of Avon Park; two daughters, Celia Walls of Lorida and Cindy Vanhyning of Avon Park; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eldin Sparkman of Colorado, and Bud Sparkman of Oklahoma; and three sisters, Anita Aldridge, Blondie Davis and Rita Tyner, all of Okeechobee.
The family received friends at the Buxton Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 14.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m., graveside at the Basinger Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home.

James Kendall Fortner
James Kendall Fortner, age 85, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002.
Mr. Fortner was born on March 25, 1917, in Galva, Kan., son of Harvey and Ferne Fortner. Mr. Fortner came to Okeechobee in 1986, from Venice. He was an independent crude oil producer, (owner/operator), also a superintendent for Thunderbird Drilling in Kansas. Mr. Fortner was a member of the First Baptist Church in Okeechobee.
Preceded in death by his brother, Dale Fortner.
Survivors include: his wife of 66 years, Belva Fortner of Okeechobee; daughter, Ruby Blazer of Natoma, Kan.; granddaughter, Kelly Staples of Shawnee, Kan.; grandson, Kent Staples of Culbertson. Neb.; sister, Signa Mahaffey of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, Larry Fortner of Evergreen, Colo.; nephew, Paul Andre of Las Vegas, Nev.; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 14, from 5 until 7 p.m., at the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Okeechobee, with Pastor Randy Huckabee, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family suggests that donations may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee.
All arrangements have been under the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.
