Josephine Anthony
Josephine Anthony, age 54, of Okeechobee, died Monday, March 3, 2003, at her residence. She was born April 21, 1948, in Richmond County, Ga., the daughter of Willie Bell Anthony and J. B. Bartley. Josephine grew up in Blythe, Ga. and moved to Florida in the early 1960's.
Survivors include: her devoted and loving companion, Walter Arrington of Okeechobee; one sister, Arlene Adams of Ozone Park, N.Y.; one brother, Evans Lewis (Llewelyn) Anthony of Fort Lauderdale; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2003, from 10 a.m. until funeral service time at 11 a.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home, with Reverend W. H. Moore officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Kenneth Owen Wilson
Kenneth Owen Wilson, age 80, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, March 9, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital. He was born August 2, 1922, in Newell, W. Va. Mr. Wilson had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1980. He was a flight officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was retired after 38 years as an engineer for the railroad and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers in Ohio. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and National Rifle Association. Mr. Wilson enjoyed fishing, motorcycles and loved creating something out of nothing, possessing a great ability for crafting things with his hands.
Survivors include: his wife of 28 years, Wilma Wilson of Okeechobee; one daughter, Cathy G. (Regis) Waters of East Liverpool, Ohio; two sons, Kenneth O. (Harriet) Wilson, Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio and Kris N. Wilson of Niceville; five grandchildren; and brother, Thomas J. Wilson, Jr. of Houston, Texas.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Irene A. Arnett
Irene A. Arnett, age 85, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at J.F.K. Medical Center in Atlantis.
She was born on April 7, 1917, at Meade, Kan., daughter of Edward and Clara (Duerr) Blaue.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Arnett.
Survivors include: two sons, Dr. R. G. Arnett of California, Mo. and Rodney E. Arnett of Okeechobee; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a niece, Delores (Dee) White of Okeechobee.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2003, at Fijian RV Park in Okeechobee.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Hospice of your choice or the Habitat for Humanity.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Fox Funeral Home, P.O. Box 37, Cole Camp, Mo.

George R. Miller
George R. Miller, age 59, of Okeechobee, died on Thursday, March 8, 2001 at his residence.
Born in Charleston, W. Va., on October 22, 1941 to George E. and Nita Ruth Miller. He moved to Florida in 1958, graduated from Indian River Community College and went on to become a deputy in St. Lucie County, Okeechobee County, and Brevard County.
In July of 1999 he retired with 30 plus years in law enforcement. George was a professional in everything he did and was one of the best fingerprint specialist around.
In addition to his love of law enforcement he enjoyed woodwork, painting, photography, and working in the yard.
He loved his wife Debbie and their new son David Russell.
Preceded in death by; his mother, Nita Ruth in 1989 and his father, George E. in 1969.
Survivors include: his wife, Debbie Willis Miller of Okeechobee, sons; David Russell Miller; John Connor and wife Rainelle, Billy Connor and wife Julie, all of Okeechobee; daughters; Holly Orr and husband Matt of Okeechobee and Dee Eller and husband Doug of Fort Pierce; brother, Larry Miller and wife Kathy of Fort Pierce; five grandchildren; nephews; Wade Tindall, Will Tindall and Larry Miller; and niece; Nicole Miller.
The family has requested donations be made to the David Russell Miller benefit account, son of George R. Miller, at the Big Lake National Bank, located at 1409 S. Parrott Avenue, Okeechobee, FL. 34974.
All arrangements are entrusted under the direction and care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Harry Fred Heitz
Harry Fred Heitz, age 76, of Buckhead Ridge, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, in Okeechobee.
Mr. Heitz was born on Nov. 3, 1926, in St. Louis, Mo. Mr. Heitz retired from Boemler Chevrolet in Arnold, Mo., after 31 years. He moved to Buckhead Ridge from St. Louis, Mo., in 1993. Mr. Heitz served in the U.S. Army Aircorp; was fire chief of the Volunteer Fire Dept. in BHR; Captain of the Citizens Observer Patrol (C.O.P.) in BHR; and president of the BHR homeowners association of the BHR Community Center.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Laverne (Luster) Heitz of Buckhead Ridge. He was also the loving father of two children and four grandchildren. Mr. Heitz was also a brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many and most importantly he was a loving and devoted husband.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, at 1 p.m., at the Buckhead Ridge Community Center, 680 S.R. 78. The family requests casual dress.

James "Jim" Irven Smith, Sr.
James "Jim" Irven Smith, Sr., age 68, of Avon Park, died on Saturday, March 8, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Smith was born on Oct. 2, 1934, in Robenson County, N.C. He moved from Frostproof to Avon Park six years ago. He was a meat cutter and owned and operated Jim's Meat Market in Okeechobee for many years. Mr. Smith was a member of Christian Home Free Will Baptist Church in Bartow.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester "Slim" Smith and his mother, Mae Britt Smith.
Survivors include: his wife, Martha S. Smith of Avon Park; two daughters, Elizabeth "Cissy" (Mack) Hampton of Altamont, Tenn, and Paula (Frank) Byars of Okeechobee; two sons, C.A. (Tammy) Smith of Frostproof and James I. (Sabrina) Smith, Jr. of Avon Park; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren also survive him.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 10, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at 2 p.m., at the Christian Home Free Will Baptist Church in Bartow with Reverend Reginald Palmer, Reverend Robert Chaney and Reverend Willie T. Jones officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Christian Home Free Will Baptist Church.
All arrangements are entrusted to the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof.

Benjamin Lucius Durrance
Benjamin Lucius Durrance, age 76, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mr. Durrance was born on Dec. 25, 1926, in Dundee. He was the son of William James and Martha Lorene (Joyner) Durrance. He was the manager of Stokes Fish Company and a member of the North Okeechobee Church of God. He also was a veteran.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Jimmie R. Durrance of Okeechobee; two daughters, Alicia (Phil) Pittman and Charlotte (Daryl) Bailey, both of Okeechobee; three sons, Richard (Carol) Durrance and W.J. (Terisa) Durrance, both of Okeechobee and Mark (Kebra) Durrance of Umatilla; two brothers, Harold J. Durrance of Okeechobee and Jesse Earl Durrance of Hazel Green, Ala.; nine grandchildren: Tonya, Karrie, Ashley, Cody, Morgan, Markus, Stacie, Amanda and Beth; and seven great-grandchildren, Carissa, Jenna, Brent, Britney, Kayla, Haley and Tyler.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2003, from 5 until 7 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at 11 a.m., at the North Okeechobee Church of God with Reverend Noah Taylor and Reverend Al Padgett officiating. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Okeechobee.
All arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Donald H. McNeeley
Donald H. McNeeley, age 82, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, March 9, 2003, at his residence. He was born on August 27, 1920, in Jefferson County, Iowa. Mr. McNeeley had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1988.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 55 years, Jean M. (Becker) McNeeley of Okeechobee; one son, Danny L. (Debbie). McNeeley of Apopka; two grandsons, Chad and Todd McNeeley of Apopka; two granddaughters, Alexis and Alyssa McNeeley of Apopka; one brother, Howard McNeeley of Dunnellon; and three sisters, Lillian Phipps of Hemet, Calif., Dorothy Pierce of Moline, Ill. and Betty Micetic of Worth, Ill.
Memorial services will be conducted in Fairfield, Iowa.
All local arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Barbara Edgerley-Dearinger
Barbara Edgerley-Dearinger, age 62, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, in Kokomo, Ind.
Mrs. Dearinger was born on April 6, 1940, in Kokomo, Ind., the daughter of Edward Joseph and Clara Irene (Cook) Babcock. Mrs. Dear-inger was a machine opera-tor for Cuneo Press 16 years and as a bartender at the Ramada Inn. She came to Okeechobee from Kokomo, Ind., in 1988. Mrs. Dearinger was a member of the Women of the Moose and V.F.W. Auxiliary, both in Florida and also a Kentucky Colonel.
Preceded in death by: her parents; and her husband.
Survivors include: two sons, Gary (Sandy Crow) Edgerley and Tony Edgerley, all of Kokomo, Ind.; five step-children, Russell Dear-inger of Cleveland, Ohio, Greg Dearinger of Greenville, Tenn., Julene Dearinger, Yvonne Dearinger, both of Sarasota, Clemene Ramsey of Georgia; three grandchil-dren, Kayla, Summer and Luke Edgerley, all of Kokomo, Ind.; 11 step-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Babcock of Galveston, Ind.; life-long friends, Joy Krhin of Green-town, Ind., Don and Juanita Schrecongost, Joann Dim-mitt and Becky Sue Bennett, all of Okeechobee.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11, from noon until 1:45 p.m., at the Parrott Avenue Christian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 11, at 2 p.m., graveside, at Evergreen Cemetery, with Reverend Willard Delaney, Interim Pastor of the Parrott Avenue Christian Church, officiating.

Edith Jane King, age 83, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Grace Health Care of Clewiston. Born April 18, 1917, in West Virginia, Ms. King was a homemaker by occupation.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mildred Polk of St. Albans, W.Va. and Berdine Frisbe of White Sulphur, Mont.; five sons, Alvin King of Chipley, Namen King of Okeechobee, Curtis King of Hollywood, David King of Okeechobee and William Nutter of Sebring; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 8, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Friday, March 9, at 3 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Steve Dulin, pastor of the New Testament Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
