Henry "Hank" Laverne Schoonmaker
Henry "Hank" Laverne Schoonmaker, age 74, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Schoonmaker was born on Oct. 31, 1928, in Elka Park, N.Y. Mr. Schoonmaker had been a resident of Okeechobee for 25 years and was well known for selling tools at the flea markets.
Preceded in death by: two brothers, Phil and Gilbert; and three sisters, Margaret, May and Irma.
Survivors include: his wife of 40 years, Julia M. Schoonmaker of Okeechobee; stepson, James Magee of New York; two step grandchildren, Patrick and Daniel Magee of New York; four brothers, Bert Schoonmaker of Alabama, Edward Schoonmaker and John Schoonmaker of Florida and William Schoonmaker of Louisiana; four sisters, Dorothy Myer and Leita Becker of New York, Marilyn Annucci of Colorado and Rose Toart of Florida also survives him.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Mariano Peter Paul Ragusa
Mariano Peter Paul Ragusa, age 84, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at his residence in Buckhead Ridge. Born June 29,1916, in New York City, N.Y., coming to Okeechobee from Marlboro in 1987.
Mr. Ragusa was a electrical contractor and a member of the Buckhead Ridge Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Okeechobee Blue Lodge; Order of the Eastern Star of Okeechobee; Okeechobee High 12 Club; Scottist Rite Valley of Lake Worth; York Valley of Albany, N.Y.; Okeechobee Shrine Club; Amara AAONMS; past president of the Buckhead Ridge Volunteer Fire Department; past president of the Buckhead Ridge Lions Club; former constable town of Malboro, N.Y. ; former member of the Okeechobee Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Session of Marlboro, N.Y.; and, also a former member of the National Guard.
Survivors include: Elsie Ragusa of Okeechobee; daughter, Ruth Lynn Carney of Waschester, Pa.; son, Thomas Marion Ragusa of Malboro, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and, two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 16, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, Jan .17, at 11 a.m. at the Buckhead Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. David Lyons officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 1111 South Federal Highway, Suite 110, Stuart, Fla., 34994.
Arrangmenets are entrusted to the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Ruth Nina Alguire
Ruth Nina Alguire, age 88, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Hospice By The Sea-Morse Geriatric in West Palm Beach.
Mrs. Alguire was born on Oct. 2, 1914, in Watertown, N.Y. Mrs. Alguire had been a resident of Okeechobee for 11 years and was a member of the Church of Our Saviour.
Preceded in death by: her husband, Ralph Alguire; and two sons, Thomas Alguire and Richard Alguire.
Survivors include: two daughters, Deanna (Kevin) Daniels Eaves of West Palm Beach and Shirley (Jack) Steward of Okeechobee; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jenny Holbrook of Connecticut also survives her.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at 1 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home, with Father Ed Weiss, pastor of Church of Our Saviour, officiating.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Kathleen E. Boney
Kathleen E. Boney, age 83, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce.
Mrs. Boney was born on Nov. 5, 1919, and had been a lifetime resident of Okeechobee. She was a member of the Brighton Baptist Church and her hobbies included painting, poetry and overseeing the cattle operation. Mrs. Boney was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Preceded in death by: her husband, Leo Boney; her parents, Oliver and Lottie Journigan Godwin; her daughter, Edna Pearl Boney Douglas; and brother, Oliver D. Godwin, Jr.
Survivors include: one son, Lloyd L. "Boosty" (Kathy) Boney of Okeechobee; two daughters, Ronelda (Dave) Copper of Lake Wales and Janet (Doug) Raulerson of Okeechobee; four sisters, Corrine (Jimmy) Hollingshead of Selma, Ala., Naomi Wilson, Anita (Buster) Williams of Okeechobee and Lorretta Woodsom of Brewster; one brother, Clifton (Ailene) Godwin of Okeechobee; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 11 nephews; and seven nieces also survive her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, from 4 until 7 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at 2 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Calvin H. Fryar, Th.D, pastor of Brighton Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Rudolph 'Buddy' Victor Sage
Rudolph 'Buddy' Victor Sage, age 73, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital.
Born Nov. 15, 1927, in Goulds, Mr. Sage had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1953. He was a produce farmer and was well known in this area as the owner and operator of Sage's produce.
Survivors include: his wife of 49 years, Eva; two sons, Arthur L. Sage of Okeechobee, Ronald K. Sage and his wife JoAnn of Okeechobee; one daughter, Sharon A. Saietta also of Okeechobee. In addition, he is survived by eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one sister, Lucille Gibbs of Sebring.
A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel.
All arrangements are under the direction of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Johnny Lee Brazzell
Johnny Lee Brazzell, age 75, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001 at Raulerson Hospital. Born August 7, 1925 in St. Louis, Mo., Mr. Brazzell had been a resident of Okeechobee for seven years.
Survivors include: one brother, Joe Riggins of Hawaii and Seattle,Wash., two sisters, Billie McCrory of West Palm Beach and Dainie Cecil of Caruthersville, Mo; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Sullivan of Okeechobee, Edward Cecil of Caruthersville, Mo. and Norris McCrory of West Palm Beach.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are entrusted under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home.

Ellen Ann Laws
Ellen Ann Laws, age 57, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001 at Raulerson Hospital. Born November 1, 1943 in Wyandott, Mich., Mrs. Laws had been a resident of Okeechobee for eight months. She was 'Mom' to everyone that knew her.
Survivors include one son, Mark H. Laws of Okeechobee; two daughters, Ramona Claudette Crenshaw Johnston of Houston, Texas and Joanna Omona Laws of Fort Lauderdale; twelve grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Crenshaw of Caddomills, Texas and Donald Crenshaw of Tampa; and two sisters, Gloria Carpenti of Caddomills, Texas and Jerri Wallace.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are entrusted under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Robert Louis Jackson
Robert Louis Jackson, 52, of Metairie, La., died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 7, 1950, in Winfield, Ala., and had formerly resided in the New Orleans area for over 30 years.
While serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam, he was in direct contact with Agent Orange.
His hobbies included fishing, golfing and cooking.
Survivors include: his wife, Shirley Jackson of Metairie, La.; one daughter, Deana Barbier of Marrero, La.; parents, Bill and Jo Jackson of Okeechobee; sister, Pat (Victor) Hiatt of Okeechobee; one grandson; and, three nephews.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at the Lamana-Panno-Fall Funeral Home in Metairie, La.

Nelma L. Meredith
Nelma L. Meredith, 91, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital.
Born July 13, 1911, in Elyria, Ohio, Mrs. Meredith had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1978.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Lester 'Pete' Meredith, and sister, Lois Austin Jones.
Survivors include: two sons, Richard L. (Karen) Meredith of Bothell, Wash., and Terry (Pamela) Meredith of Alexandria, Ky.,; one daughter, Janet L. (Larry Smith) Donaldson of Granville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and, nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, from noon until funeral service time at 2 p.m. Reverend Marvin Foster , KOA pastor, will officiate.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Aileen Morton Pippin
Aileen Morton Pippin, 76, of Okeechobee, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital.
Born Aug. 22, 1926, in West Palm Beach, Mrs. Pippin had been a resident of Okeechobee for 18 years. She was a cosmetologist and former owner of Charlotte's Beauty Salon in West Palm Beach. Mrs. Pippin was a member of St. Ann's Church in West Palm Beach. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW Auxiliary and Lady of the Shrine of Palm Beach Gardens.
Survivors include: her husband of 18 years, Donald A. Pippin, Sr., of Okeechobee; two sons, Raymond S. Bottomley of Floral City, and Douglas M. Bottomley of Walla Walla, Wash.; one daughter, Terianne Bottomley Amedee of West Palm Beach; one stepson, Donald A. Pippin, Jr., of Los Angeles, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Michelle M. Pippin of Tampa; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and, a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Buxton Funeral Home, 110 N.E. Fifth St., in Okeechobee, on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at 10 a.m.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

William E. Walker
William E. Walker, age 59, died January 11, 2001 at the V.A. Hospital in West Palm Beach. Mr. Walker was born February 19, 1941 in Burlington, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army and worked in a Bulk Oil Plant.
Survivors include: his wife, Carol J. Schillig of Okeechobee, two daughters; Domnique Barnes of N.C., and Ginger Crews of Colorado, one brother, Dana Walker of Montana, one sister, Jan Worvy of Corville, Iowa and one granddaughter.
There will be no services.
All arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home And Cremation Services.

Virgil B. Hall
Virgil B. Hall, age 74, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at Lawnwood Medical Center in Ft. Pierce.
Mr. Hall was born on Nov. 28, 1928, in Grethel, Ky., he was the fourth child of William "Jay" Hall and Maudie Vance Hall. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, aboard the USS Helena. A retired contractor and businessman, he worked in California, Idaho, Ohio and Kentucky before he became a resident of Okeechobee in 1986. He enjoyed golf, fishing and visiting with his many friends and family. He was a member of the Okeechobee Golf and Country Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Cecil of Clyde, Ohio, Richard of Soda Springs, Idaho, Delano "Pood" of Manning S. C., and Lovel Hall of Maytown, Ky.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Jane Hall; two sons; Ronny (Linda) Hall of Prestonburg, Ky. and Redgy larissa) Hall of Okeechobee. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Shanna (Kelly) Davis of Raleigh, N.C., Heather (Robert) VanHoose of Paintsville, Ky., Christina (Jay) Pitts of Mount Sterling, Ky., Renny Alan of Lexington, Ky., and Laken Hall of Prestonsburg, Ky. There are two great-grandchildren; Shala Spradlin and Austin VanHoose of Paintsville, Ky. Also surviving are sisters; Delphia (Carson) Driggs of Townsen, Md., and Eloise (Gene) Pratt of Columbus, Ohio. There are three brothers; James K. (Geneva) of Beaver, Ky., Forrest (Pearl) of Grethol, Ky., and Denzil Ray (Donna) of McDowell, Ky. In addition, he is survived by three sisters-in-law; Verlie Hall of Clyde, Ohio, Marion Hall of Manning, S.C. and Cindy Hall of Maytown, Ky. He also has several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that will join his family in missing him.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, from 4 until 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in Martin, Ky., under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home. Interment will take place in the Hall Cemetery in Grethel, Ky.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Fountain of Life Church Buildinq Fund.
All local arrangements are under the direction of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
